DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Let us not forget the others

We spend a lot of time, for very obvious reasons, discussing Rand, Mat, Perrin, the Forsaken, the Seanchan and the associated other 'main' characters.

With only one book to go, and me only on book 10 it is possible that some of these have taken a turn to the dark or been rewarded themselves but for lack of discussion on them in these forums, I just wanted to take my hat off, and pay homage to the dead and living characters that make our heroes able to do what they do;

Talmanes

Dobraine

Narishma

Flinn

Rhuarc

Berelain (although she is duscussed to an extent)

Uno

Nalesean

Bael

Wil al'Seen (doesnt Perrin pretty much have him as his 'general'?)

Tam

Abel - for not forcing Mat to return, and letting his sisters go too

Ingtar - he may have been a DF but he did a gallant thing

Birgitte

Reene Harfor

Bashere - same as Berelain

Anyone care to add any?

I would add Gaul to the list. I really like him as a character and he has been in the books since pretty early on.

I know he was the Aiel in the cage, thus his bond with Perrin, but was he also the first Aiel that they gang ran into, standing in the road? I dont have the books handy and i cant remember the name given.

The Bornholds and Byer.

Jaichim Carridin - what a way to go.

High Lord Weiramon - puffed up poppinjay, or sly, devious darkfriend?

Bayle Doman - hes been in a in a about half the books.

Cenn Buie - Everyone favorite crotchety old man.

Amelgar - one of the 5 great captains, and responsible for keeping the trollocs at bay, does he get a mention?

Guest Dreadlord

One that I forgot about that has been mentioned is Doilan Mellar/Daved Hanlon. This guy has potential. Not only has he been running about using different names, he managed to get into Elaynes goodbooks by "saving her" from his fellow Darkfriends. I got a really good picture of that bit, where he killed the first two in close quarters and then THREW his longsword at the last just before they reached Elayne. That was a good bit. Thanks for reminding me of it

Nalesean, Talmanes, Birgitte are all on the original list. Sulin and possibly Enaila I would agree with, although I'm not too convinced that Enaila enhanced the story any. Nial, Valda, Asunawa, yes they added to the integrity of the story, i'll add them. Caraline Damodred... apart from getting Rand back to the Sun Palace when Fain slashed him, I'm not convinced she's added much else. Feel free to contradict me :-) Vanin yes, i missed him.

Siuan, Taim, Leane, Logain, Amys and to an extent Bair and Melaine I would consider to be relatively prominent characters, which isnt what I'm trying to capture here. I'm aiming to capture all the 'forgotten' characters; those that make the story what it is, enhance the plots but aren't generally the topic of discussion.

I'll post an updated list in 2 secs..

Kadere

Couladin

Teslyn - although apart from getting tied up with the Seanchan and requiring a Cauthon rescue, I'm not sure what she's done?

Alanna - good one

Thom - although I think he's more a main character, but I love him. Everyone needs a Gandalf character!

Juilin

Liandrin - for kickstarting the understanding of Sul'dam and 'damane.

Padan Fain - although he's quite well discussed

Noal Charin

Olver - although he is involved in quite a few discussions too

Tylin - you've got to love her

Sulin

Enaila

Nial

Valda

Asunawa

Vanin

Luca

Caraline Damodred - feel free to convince me :-)

Caraline Damodred is going to be Tears first queen, shes friends with Min, and was one of the leaders of the rebellion in Cairhien, she looks very similar to moraine that looking at her sets the list of names Rand has etched on his soul.

And Herid Fel, the philosopher and historian. Hes had in impact on the story, it was with his help Rand worked out how to cleanse saidin.
