balefire... question

Just wondering and i bet the answer is 'not that far' and 'absolutely no effect' in that order.

How far back does balefiring someone have effect on their actions? I htink i've asked this before but i cant remember the answer.

Lanfear and her team drilled the bore. Would balefiring her make any difference?

Even if it were possible to hit Cyndane with balefire powerful enough to burn about 4000 years out of the Pattern (and I firmly believe it is not ... even with the Choedan Kal), that would be disastrous ... it would probably rip the entire Pattern apart.  It would mean the War of the Power never happened, the Breaking never happened, and all of history from that point on ... never happened.  There simply no way, in my opinion, that the Pattern could possibly absorb a paradox on that scale.

As far as i can remember, it depends on the strength of the weave. If you were to balefire Lanfear with enough power to burn her thread out from over 3000 years ago, then id imagine that may be enough on its own to unravel the pattern, bassicly the lat 3000 years of history ould be wrong, there would be no forsaken... but there are, the dark one wouldnt be free... and all kinds of paradoxes, im not sure the wheel could handle that.

So my answer is, probably "not quite far enough"(although perhaps the Choedan Kal would be strong enough. If the female one was still intact as well, and they were both being used through a link, then maybe), And a HUGE effect

It could have been possible, maybe it still is, but the longer you wait, the more damage you do to the pattern. He should have done that just after the attack. But he didn't and he won't. After all she's a woman, a very distasteful one, but still. And imagine Cadsuane's reaction.
