Guidelines? why? I dont really understand why you think we should dictate how people wanna run their games  :-\

and "fast mafia" would fit in on advanced games. if things go as I hope they go, we will have enough regular players around, and enough new players coming by to play that we will be able to have multiple games running at once. but the way things are now, with people getting tired of playing, its just not as much fun as it used to. sure I love playing with all of you, but I know you all so well now that I know almost exactly how you all play.

these are just suggestions from my side, but good ones I think.

Doesn't that game depend highly upon the evidence provided?

It could, or, it does not have to. Let's say the mod plans out elaborate cases and places the evidence out there, full of clues. That would be great!

Or

You can have a set of simple circumstances like "the defendant was the last person seen talking to the victim outside the victim's home at midnight".  It could go either way.  But maybe the jury would know that three of the defendants are guilty and two are innocent, and wait for the bribed jury members to try to make a case out of nothing, etc...

It needs some tweaking, so make suggestions if you like.

I agree that mods shouldn't be forced to do anything, but we should have guide lines.

I have a guide for game modding. That what you are talking about? If not, please define the type of guidelines.

Many of the mafia games that are taking place that are open to the public in other Orgs are generally recruiting tactics for the Org, and thus the games are not done very often. That, and SG has been doing the mafia games as one of their Org games for years before it ever came to DM proper. :P

I don't see why we really have an Advanced Games section. I've been playing "advanced games", with people who have not completed the requisite newbie games. It doesn't seem like that standard is really being enforced.

I completely agree with this statement. Only people who have played several games mod games at this point anyway. I think it's tacky to start throwing "guidelines" at them.

Anyone can play an 'advanced' game here, provided signups are not full. We aren't stopping people at all. The point of the 'newbie' games is for those who don't want to try the 'advanced' games right off. The 'newbie' games are simply a chance for people to try the game out and get used to it, if they want to.

yeah, what bosom said. we're not stopping anyone from joining in the advanced games, we only recommend that if you are brand new to the games, you should play a newbie game before you start an advanced game.

But then the games aren't really advanced, are they? Wouldn't they be standard games, since they aren't newbie games? If newbie games have a limit on the amount of "experienced" people that can participate, then it seems like advanced games should have a limit on how many new people can participate. Perhaps I'm thinking too much in the interest of consistency and fairness...but it doesn't really seem like "Advanced" would be an appropriate term, if anyone can join. "Standard" seems to be a bit more accurate. Just imo. ;)

I've not actually heard anyone use the term 'advanced' until you mentioned it earlier FDM. I've always just said the "newbie games" and the "big games"

Edit: Forgot to add, the names of the various types of games are so informal, that what we call them doesn't really matter IMO. Call them standard if you want, somebody else'll call em advanced, I'll call em big, another person will call em themed, etc...

If I'm not mistaken, we have actually focused our boredom (for lack of a game) on names for games? How about "The Mod beith the final word" and everybody who wants to play, play! IMO, we can run a couple of games at a time without spreading players too thin, and it keeps things from getting too slow on just one game.

i've been conspicuously absent for several reasons. school, life and death. my appearances may become spotty...if you need to get in touch with me, my pm's email me that i need to check them, you can offline message me on msn or flat out email me. the other two will tell you what to do if you need them.

look, the mod of the current game is the boss. if there is anything that is questionable, ask that mod or ask danya, boyo or myself.
