Moghedian
I'm backing WOT, the Dark One is constantly referred to as being 'God-like' and Sauron despite his great power is just human. Trollocs would be more than a match for Orcs and the new dark-hounds don't seem to die. I wonder what would happen if the Draghkar encountered the Nazgul... RobertAlexWillis
I wonder what would happen if the Draghkar encountered the Nazgul... Just a regular Draghkar? He's toast. Nazgul would chew him up and spit him out. They're very awkward fliers.
Gat
personaly i think the trollocs would be more than a match for orcs, gotta remember that in lotr orcs are somewhat weak, small and sort of cowardly(not sure on the last one) the uruk-hai on the other hand, id put them slightly above trollocs, bit more mobility and possibly skill in my oppinion. darkhounds in my opinion could be a match for pretty much any basicish military unit in lotr. lets face it they're not easy to kill in WoT, lotr armies would have a very tough time. trolls and the elephants (forget what the lotr name for them is) would be interesting, sure some well placed channeling could tack care of them.. or even some not so well placed) but discounting channeling for the moment i think the trolls would be the harder part of a lotr army for shadowspawn to take down (im not really counting fades much here but i imagine even they might break a sweat(do fades sweat?) against a mountain troll. the elephants would just scatter/crush troops until the fades could organise the trolocs and other shadowspawn enough to coordinate an attack to take them down, i doubt they would stay up for long after that. persoanly tho id have to pin my bet on WoT, even once suron has the one ring, i dont think he could overcome the shear power effectivness of WoT channelers. and in regard to the 9 being more powerful once suron has the ring, iv never read anything about how powerful they might be, but without the ring they dont really seem much more powerful than fades... they're just harder to kill. RobertAlexWillis
do fades sweat? Yes. At the end of TSR, ch 31, Fain is "negotiating" with his Myrddraal prisoner. Ordeith smiled. It thought him a fool. It would learn. They all would. "First the matter of ... shall we say, agreements and accord?" As he talked, the Myrddraal began to sweat. Mr Ares
I'm backing WOT, the Dark One is constantly referred to as being 'God-like' and Sauron despite his great power is just human.Sauron=Maiar. Lesser order of angelic superbeings. Not human, more like Balrog. Maiar=Valar's b*tches, Sauron=Morgoth's b*tch. Valar=higher order of angelic superbeings=less than gods. Shai'tan=god. Would destroy world. Depending on whose magics can work....question pointless. Is Sauron balefireproof? Is Sauron part of Pattern?
dyring
This kind of threads are just way to silly. I really shouldent post in something like this. Oh, wth ;) Sauron wouldent stand a chance. He´s jsut a demigod/angel. Sure, he´d prolly toast any number of forsaken, but he wouldent stand a chance. If melkor/morgoth go involved, Well, that would make it interesting, He really gotto be called a god, even if not the top god(he and the other valar does help Illuvatar in the creation after all, and he is described as the most powerful voice among the maiar there). so in a oldfashioned one on one, shai´tan would prolly whoop him, but with some problems. Here is one other thing thou, if we are talking all powers and allies, melkor would be able to muster a huge amount of maiar(balrogs, sauron, possibly ungoliant, etc), wich while not individually would be a threat to shai´tan, together with melkor, they may be a hassle, and so would dragons etc. The first dragons in silmarillon are quite proficent in magic, Such as things akin to compulsion for example. In lotr thou, the greatest battles between good and evil was fought in earlyer ages, where the (demi)gods truly partitiated. Hell, melkor/morgoth(with some help) destroyed a tree that was akin to the sun. Now anyone who can destroy soemthing like the sun is a major player;) //dyring
