Adanna fallowed the other Novice Septimia through the Tower. Adanna was in slight state of shock, she hadn't really expected to be able to become Aes Sedai. She shook off the shock and setteled her mind in the frim postion that if she was going to be trained she would do the best bloody job she could and she would be somthing more then what her family had set her for. Lost in her reveres she soon found herself infront of a Red Door where Septima was knocking. Adanna calmed herself and silently waited for the reply.

She had barely begun to unpack her saddlebags as Sisters came by to greet her welcome back to the Tower. It was wonderful to be missed, but it always made it harder to settle back in. News rarely waited for any woman and once within the Halls of her beloved Ajah, Maegan found herself already placed back where she had left. As a Sitter.

Maybe it could be an honour, but at times Maegan wondered if it wa sjsut a responsibility to the most experienced sister still left in the Tower as yet anouther left to search out wild rumours. Rumours that were spread through a delicious tongue that wished for nothing more than attention. This time it was Anita Sedai that left in a hurry after passing her the key to the Hall only for Sitters. Fingering the key that now hung around her neck and under the top of her riding blouse Maegan contemplaited repacking up her bags and returning to Cairhien. Or possibly Caemlyn. She knew of a few scholars that were there this time of the year.

Until a softer knock rapped against her door. It was not a sisters knock.

"Enter."

A girl walked in. Fresh was the white on her gown. Glowing in the light of the room as Maegan peered at her through her gold framed spectacles.

"What can I do for you, Child?" Using a term that most Aes Sedai used when regarding a Novice or Accepted. She waited patiently for an answer, disregarding the open saddlebag at her feet.

At the "Enter" from the other side of the Red Door, Septima opened the door and stepped into the room, Adanna fallowed her throught the door. The woman in room already asked "What can I do for you, Child?" and Septima told her that Adanna was here as her new Mentee. Adanna gave a curtsy, not knowing what all she should do.

O.O.C.: sorry, I don't know what Maegan looks like otherwise I would have fleshed it out a little more.

Ic:

Maegan looked at the girl with a bit of an incredulous look. Few Novices were silent these days, always had a mind of their own. But this one seemed far too quiet. Frowning, Meagan slipped her hand into her pocket only to feel a small piece of paper in it. Skimming it over, a realization struck her. There was that Accepted that came by earlier... Melina.

"Adanna, Correct?" The girl nodded her head as it stayed lower to the ground. Maegan's brown eyes softened as she pushed a stray hair behind her ear and walked over to the girl. Placing a finger under the taller girls chin, she smiled to the girl. "Chin up, M'dear. None can harm you here." Waiting to see a smile, Maegan beckoned for the girl to follow her into the room. Walking through the vast foyer and into what looked like a spacious seating area, Maegan motioned for the girl to take a seat. Momentarily later, Maegan had tea for both of them, taking a seat beside her.

"I suspect you were only just signed into the Novice register." Maegan saw a nod. "What brought you here? was it anouther Aes Sedai? Where are you from? Your skin and eyes say Andor, but your height makes me think, more northern? Kandor maybe? Beautiful country."

Adanna was slightly taken of guard with the Cairheinen Aes Sedai, She did not expect to be taken deeper into her rooms or to be offered tea. Adanna glanced at her tea cup, it was a beautiful cup light blue with small paintings of flowers on it. Maegan asked her several questions, and she tried to answer to the best of her abilities. What brought you hear? "Well, Aes Sedai, I had always read about Aes Sedai and it always made me want to be one. Then my father wanted me to marry some man to bolster the family, I'm an only child. So I left and came here. I am Kandoril, Aes Sedai. I loved it there and I truly shall miss it."

It was not unknown for girls that were placed in a situation, such as Adanna's, to leave home. Maegan always felt sad for these girls, even more so for those that could not get away. On the other hand, She had been very fortunate to have a very supportive father whom she kept close contact with until he passed on to a new turn. His second wife as well.

"Kandor is quite a long trip for such a young girl like yourself. Must have been a journey of a lifetime for you." Maegan's brown eyes twinkled behind her spectacles as she smiled. "A slightly different ending to what you expected, has it not?"

"I came from Cairhien. There was an accident that I once was caught in and it nearly lost me my sight." She pulled off her spectacles and looked to the girl. "I can not even see you,, only your form and colouring. Beyond that it is all a blur. A Yellow sister named Ata healed what she could. In the process she found that I could channel."

Slipping the glasses on, Maegan picked up her tea cup and gave it a small sip. "I was sad that I was not to return to my Fathers house, but excited to learn that I could be an Aes Sedai." She looked to the girl. "Drink up and enjoy the tea. It came grom the souther borders of Mayene. A beautiful black tea."

"What do you expect to learn from the Tower? Do you have any questions as to why you are here? Or maybe where you will go from here?"

Adanna slowly sipped the tea, savoring the taste of it she contempated the Question....What did she excpect to learn here that she haden't learned or couldn't learn else where? There where, of course, things that only Aes Sedai knew....Then she had it, she knew why she had come here.

"Maegan Sedai, I've come here wanting to be Aes Sedai because I want to be more then Just a woman, Not that i want Fame and Glory mind you, but I want to do something worth while. Something that will help the world. Maybe that's foolish, but that's what i want."

Nodding her head Maegan took a small sip from the white porcelain teacup, savouring the momentary flavour of the tea as it slid over her tongue. "Noble cause and reasoning." Maegan smiled warmly over her specticles at the girl. "And I will do the best in my power to help you in your cause. And please, just call me Maegan. I do not like formality among those I Mentor. I feel it takes away from a possible friendship."

She knew that caught the girl off guard. An Aes Sedai? A Friend? Indeed, it was possible. She had been very close to her own mentor and to this day considers the woman a friend, although she had passed on. Setting her teacup and saucer on the rich cherry table beside her seat, Maegan stood up. "Shall we get you settled in? Have you been brought to your room yet?"

Maegan Ryanne

Ooc: Okay, bring them to the novice quarters, have Adanna speak a little more about herself, if she is willing. Maegan is a good listener. ^_^

Adanna was shocked when Maegan mentioned a possible friendship. The more she talked with her the more she was reminded of her mother. Taking another sip of her tea, Adanna absently wondered what kind of Tea it was...Maegan had asked her if she had been shown her room, in all her hurry to meet her mentor she had completly forgoton what the Mistress of Novices had said about her accomodations. Hurridly racking her brains for what she had been told she suddenly remembered.

"No, I havnen't been shown to my rooms, Aes Se....I mean Maegan." She stumbled a little bit over the casuliness. Her and Maegan where soon on there way to the Novice quarters. Adanna found herself wanting to open up to the Aes Sedai.

"Maegan, if you don't think it odd for me to say, you remind me so much of my mother. Light, I supposed I'll never see her again..."

Maegan subconsciously blushed. Adjusting her glasses to hide the slight colouring in her cheeks, Maegan smiled warmly. "That is a very high compliment. I hope that I do not disappoint you. As for your mother you may or may not see her again. It is hard to know what the Wheel Weaves for us. I was able to visit my father many times before his passing onto the next Age, Light guard him. I have no doubt that you will see your mother again. Be at rest about it. You may also write your mother, is you so wish. We do not forbid letters or outside communication so long as you stay on top of your studies and do not leave the Tower Walls without permission and an escort.

"Now, let us take you to your room. Do you have any last questions before I am to switch into teacher mode and instruct you as to how your first weeks will be constructed? You are free to ask me any question. There is no such thing as a stupid question unless it remains unasked."

Maegan continued her gaze forward, listening carefully to the girls breathing for anything that could tell her more of the girl. She was shy, and shy ones were harder to read, at times.

Adanna was glad that the Aes Sedai accepted her complaiment, she was even happier to find out that she could write her mother, she promised that she would as soon as she could. Maegan asked her if she had any questions, but try as she might she couldn't think about anything right of the top of her head.

"How long will it take me to become Aes Sedai?"

Maegan paused for a moment, remembering a conversation she had with an Accepted back when she herself had first been raised. The Accepted was Christine, an aspiring Green, that was in love with a Trainee. Lacking a little tact, Maegan had informed her that the Trainee would most likely grow old and die before she would be able to attain the shawl. Age for an Aes Sedai went by far more slowly for them than any other because of their connection to the One Power.

Carefully, "It is hard to say how long it will take. The Average of years for a Novice and Accepted are about 8-10 years. Some are able to do it in less, other more. It is completely dependant on you and how hard you work towards the Shawl. Falter and you will spend more time in the Whites or banded than if you were to strive to achieve." Maegan paused, "I was 36 years old when I achieved the Red Shawl. It took me much longer than many, but it is because I am nearly blind."

Maegan turned to look to the girl with a smile. "Here is your room. Is there anything you may aquire? You will have a free day tomorrow, and then your lessons will start after tomorrow."
