Um ... since you asked, and since my personal opinion is that anyone who comes here deserves the spoilers they get, the answer is yes.

 

Moiraine Damodred is alive.  If you want more detail I'll be happy to supply it.

laughing a bit on the "spoilers" point. i think of this entire website as a spoiler.

if you really want the first clue that moiraine is still alive, concider this: when moiraine asked thom to accompany the girls (elayne and nynaeve) she guaranteed that thom would survive to see moiraine again (the deal was thom went with the girls and moiraine would give him the names of the AS who were involved with gentling his nephew)this happens in TSR.

Since we know that Moraine survived, I've got a question that's been bothering my head for a while.  When Mat exits the ter'angreal in Tear, he tries to immediatly re-enter, and fails repeatedly.  Why then, since we know Moraine has gone through the doorway once before, does she go through when she tackles Lanfear?  Shouldn't she have just landed in the wagon bed?  Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I haven't seen it.

drovja,  Moiraine went through the ter'angreal in the Stone of Tear.  That ter'angreal is still there.  The redstone doorway in the wagon bed is from Rhuidean--Moiraine didn't go through that one, Mat did. :)

You're not an idiot. Understanding the Finn gives anyone a headache.

 

There are two finn races, the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn, and there are two ter'angreal that allow access to each of these races respectively. There is also the Tower of Ghenjei which allows access to both.

 

As if that is not enough to be confusing, we know the Finn world exists in folds, which is how Moiraine, Rand and Mat were all there at the same time... much less the convulutions betwee the realsm of the Aelfinn and Eelfin as reguarded as seperate realities.

 

And yeah, Moiraine is alive and a captive in Finnland. I'm betting she has the biggest headache of all.
