Lady Mo has offered me the opportunity to be in charge of getting the Archiving done, and the authority to hand out points to helpers.  How many depends on how many are helping. 

 

I am looking for an assistant, or two, to help Archive The Kin DM posts.  It is about an hour once a week.  I need one or two people, the more people, the less work. 

 

And there will be points!

Well, I haven't been able to spend as much time at DM lately as usual but I can probably give an hour a week to archiving (though it may be two 30-minutes shifts, three 20-minute shifts, or some other variation).  Do you assign the threads to make it easier on your archivists or would we be on our own?  ;)

 

Then again, it also depends on my home 'puter.  It’s bogging down big-time and takes forever to do the simplest things when it comes to e-mail and internet.  So it might be going to the shop for some diagnostics and/or scrubbing in the near future.  I can't help but wonder if something got past my firewall . . .  >:(

It's all about the cutting-and-pasting. If you're quick, less than an hour per week, any arrangement you want.  If I get 2 volunteers, either half an hour a week, or every other week.

I'd like to have a schedule of backups, getting the current list, and anything new that looks like it should belong to the ages. :)  Go ahead and start new threads on the Backup board, if you think something needs to be there.

 

We need it to be at regular intervals, so once a week.  I'll take the Spammer's Challenge on Tuesdays, it can be a real pain, if y'all have been busy, and I'm used to my Tuesdays.

Start a reply, naming it with name of the thread and the date of the backup, and "a" "b" "c", etc. if more than one post needed(see previous  backups, please.)  Block the full page of the posts to be copied and copy, go to the reply and paste.

The backups get added to http://www.waitingforfairies.com/kinforum/index.php?board=10.0.  There is a current thread for all the previously backed up stuff, and you can add threads if you see something that needs to be added to the backup schedule.

If you want to turn Calypsa on to this, I'm fine with that.  I'm busier than I thought right now and I'm not sure I'll be able to free up enough time to do justice to it. :(  Maybe things will slow down after football season . . . Till then, I'm going to be a stressed out basket case!  :o  But the work needs doing and it looks Calypsa has time she can invest in it.

 

I apologize that I can't squeeze it in right now.  I think my enthusiasm overcame my common sense, which was trying to tell me, "when will you have TIME?!"  :-[

Daruya, I totally understand what you're going through! *hugs*

 

Ursula, I think that I would prefer to do a part of the total each week if that would be okay.  I do have some free time, but I am a full time graduate student and think that being able to do smaller amounts each week as opposed to huge chunks every other week or so would make it easier for me to be sure that I could get it done and done properly.  There are definitely some weeks where I will be running hard to get my own work done, but hopefully everything will be able to mesh together okay to get done. :)

Fabulous!  I am happy to have the help, any way you want to give it.  School starts for me next week, and I am volunteering for a couple of other things, too.  Like an idiot.  So splitting the archiving will help. 

 

Please take a minute to look at the backup board, http://www.waitingforfairies.com/kinforum/.  The Kin Backup has all the currently-backed-up threads from DM.  I  will take the Spammer's Challenge, since it its kind of a pain to sort out, on Tuesday.  Let me know which you want to do.  Some have almost no activity.  If something starts up that look good, add it on. :)

Calypsa, my classes are tues & wed.  I wasn't thinking about that before.  I will keep doing the Challenge.  There is a trick to it, because it is always so big.  Grab  whatever you want and back it up.  Love ya for helping.
