Subjects you are exploring

Most of the stories we write here in DM explore some pretty profound topics and I'm curious to hear what kind of subjects move your characters currently or have moved them in the past.

 

Two major subjects for my Aes Sedai Arette have been giving up her illusions that she can control things, happenings and people around her and that she even has to. For a very long time she thought that she knew what was for the best for those close to her which lead to all kind of issues.

 

And at the same time she refused to face and deal with her our insecurities. She hid behind the mask of an Aes Sedai and felt comfortable in that role but not as a mere woman and person.

 

Current important subject is how to balance family and other duties and how much can one person really do without burning herself out.

 

My Tower Trainee Sahra has had sadly frivolous subjects so far :P Mainly they have been about balancing love and duty. Even if it was possible to break the rules and get away with it, does it lessen the worth of dedication to both, the cause and the love?

 

My Dreadlady Acolyte Mina has had to come on terms with her abusive past and to face her fears of finding a similar dark side inside herself too.

 

How about your characters? What have been the main lines of their stories? :)

Oh geez lol, where would I start.  I really can't say I explore "profound" ideas for all of my characters, only those I truly love to write and generaly it's pushing the limits of their convictions.

 

Matalina had to deal with failing at her duty to protect not one but three Aes Sedai, her inner battle between good and evil where evil has now finally one out for the most part.  She currently trying to balance family, her cover life and her passion for killing (and two men lol).  But she's battling alot more internally, multiple personality disorder that continually worsens and the growing evil inside her.

hm words sound familiar Cema of course know it all best..and when one way dont work she aint crushed to long before finding a new way to feed her ambisious need (not played her too long but have her in my head and like writing her just lack of time)

 

Liitha been throug drama after drama to put it like that...parentless growing up with relatives..then to follow the few leads she has to learn more of her parents...coming to term with who she is and who they where in the midle of other things happening to her...along with several tries at healing her into a set personality ..untill she setled in well dunno what to call it...other then she met the aim she had since litle upon meeting the AS that she could get fully along with and devote herself to

 

M'bela beeing her own manipulative sadistic fan of semi trying to ignore the few fears she got and keeping them most often well in check

 

and the rest well i dont really play them often enough to be able to set a timeish description of their line down..to much of their progress never make it out of my head and into words
