I agree...there are too many long descriptions of the same thing over and over and over again.

The other thing that would really cut down on the length of the series is if RJ had eliminated all of the "refresher" information that he puts at the start of every novel after the TGH or TDR....I mean, from TSR on, there is at least 30 pages of "this is what happened last book" information.

Sometimes I'm like "YEAH!  I KNOW!  I JUST FREAKIN' READ THAT!".....

did anyone ever read hemmingway? talk about word count......

You mean his collections of short stories and The Old Man and the Sea?  Hemmingway is a master of 12-word sentences worth a thousand words.

That is one thing I like.  Sometimes there is a time span between my readings, and I do appreciate the "refreshers".

I can see both the pros and the cons of a lot of refreshers and descriptions. On one hand, if you've just read the last book, you don't need a refresher; on the other, if you haven't, you do. Then, if you are the type that likes to rush into action, you don't like descriptors; but if you like to envision the world very vividly, then you do.

To me the rich detail is part of why I love it so much. It make the world more realistic for me. I don't mind the repeditive detail. On rereads its taught me how to effectively skim. ;D
