New policy about 15 links and under

Okay, call me a little bit of a skeptic here. I understand the need to ban spammers, but wouldn't something that at the very least curbed their ability to post automatically (like a captcha) work better than an arbitrary number.

Plus, are the links the real problem, or the fact that spammers are posting anything?

It's both I would assume. The content isn't what I'd call appropriate but the fact that they post everywhere is also a complete pain!

 

I just think we're going to have to be paitent and wait and see what the admins come up with!

Just weighing in with my two cents.

The fifteen posts thingy was something that was done with software. If it was enabled correctly, posts with links in them wouldn't show until the poster had fifteen posts. However, there is a bug in the software and it didn't work. We've started banning by email domains and that seems to stop them for about 24 hours.

i mostly just ignore them. for anyone over 18 with some world exposure i don't think it's a big deal. but the children, won't someone please think of the children!?

No, we are the children. We are the ones to make a brighter day so lets start spamming. There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives. It's true we'll make a better day just you and me.
