DM/WT handle: Audorienne

Name: Audorienne Caelyyn

Email: a.tropa_b.elladonna@hotmail.com

Place of birth/raising: Ebou Dar

Age upon entering the Tower: 17

Physical Description:

Audorienne does not look like a normal Ebou Dar woman, but then again, that may be because she isn't. Instead of the dark hair and olive complextion that is the norm her city, she has red hair and fair skin. Though she has spent countless hours in the hot sun, she has never even taken on much of a tan. Her eyes are a pale, watery blue, her nose small and rounded, and her lips full and pouty. She sticks out amongst the citizens of Ebou Dar, most of which are much darker than she is. She, however, has always been considered an outlandish beauty in her home town. She is also fairly tall, standing at only about 5'10''.

Character History:

Years before Audorienne was even a twinkle in her father's eye, a man and a woman from Andor met and fell in love. There was one problem though: the woman's family was of noble blood and the man was but a simple merchant (not a very well to-do one, at that). The woman, whose name was Shiean, tried to convince her parents that she was in love with this "peasant" man and would never be happy without him. Her mother was sympathetic, but her father wouldn't hear of it.

That settled matters for the two star-crossed lovers and, after two months of pretending they had gone seperate ways, two months of saving money, and hiding clothes and supplies, they took Shiean's horse and another horse from her fathers stable, and left Andor behind. They traveled roughly south and after weeks and weeks on horseback they arrived in Ebou Dar.

They were married once in Ebou Dar and set up a small shop with the money they had brought with them and gotten from selling the two horses, the second floor of which they made their home. They never became rich, but they worked hard and were happy. They saved up a little money, and a few years later Shiean gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, which they named Jalin and Audorienne. Their father, Guin, couldn't have been happier. Things seemed to finally be perfect for the little family, but it was not to be.

In Audorienne's thirteenth winter, one that was unusually cold in the fair-weathered city, Shiean caught pneumonia. It was a long, hard winter for the family, as it was for most everyone. The cold weather killed off crops that would have normally grown all through winter and food became scarce.

There was not enough money to go around for anyone, and the shop suffered.

Just before spring brought back warmth and hope to the people of Ebou Dar, Audorienne's mother died. This would inevitably lead to the failure of the little shop the family lived above, because while Guin imported the cloth that was so important to the little dress shop, Shiean was the one who had made the dresses for the noble and upper-class women. Audorienne had never had much interest in dressmaking so had hardly learned how to. She tried to help her father, but they lost customers very rapidly after her mother's death. Her father took to drinking and gambling shortly after Shiean's death, and within the year, Audorienne and Jalin had lost their father as well. He hadn't died, but he was thrown into jail after he was caught stealing.

So Audorienne and her brother lived together in the room above their out of business shop, taking odd jobs around the city to get money to support themselves. For three years, things were hard, but alright. But things took a turn for the worse when Jalin was caught in bed with a nobleman's daughter (like father, like son). The girl's father was so angry that he hired men to kill Jalin. For five days after the incident, things seemed to be going as usually but on the sixth day, the men surrounded Audorienne and her brother as they were walking down the street. Audorienne was thrown aside and could only watch and scream as the men killed her brother.

In the days after her brother's death, Audorienne decided to leave Ebou Dar and head north to Andor, to family. She had never met any of her parent's family, but she hoped they would have mercy on her and take her in. On her way to Andor, however, she came across an Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah.

Mikoa Sedai, who had recently lost her servant in a Trolloc raid in the Borderlands, took the destitute girl in. They became quick friends, though there was a nearly fifty year age gap between the two of them. For months, they traveled together and over that time Audorienne, who had known Aes Sedai existed but not much beyond that, learned of the White Tower, the One Power, and the Ajahs. She as amazed at the things that could be done with the One Power, enthralled by these women called Aes Sedai. It took her several weeks to work up the courage to ask Mikoa Sedai if she might be allowed to go to the Tower to try her hand at becoming an Aes Sedai, but Mikoa was glad the girl had asked and so took her back to the White Tower.
