Ah, on that topic, hot thread points are gonna change.

Instead of looking at the threads from June that got X posts by the end of June, we'll be looking at the threads from May that got X posts by the end of June. Because otherwise it's not really fair to threads that start, say, June 26th or something.

Ah well it used to just count in the month you passed a post target. So you might get a thread to 50 in 1 month and then 100 in the next and 150 in the next. You'd still get a total of 15 points but it took longer. That way it doesn't matter when the thread started :)

That's a good system as well, but it does sometimes require checking when the Xth post was made and I'm lazy. Typically if a thread doesn't reach 150 posts in two months it's dead and won't do so at all. For exceptions I'll make an exception as well, though.

Well, necro'ing for points is something else than continuing a dicussion or something, right? But indeed, if a thread is slow but steadily active, then they'll be an exception and get those last points in the third month.

well you just really have to look at the total replies until they reach 150, and you'd do that once a month. used to anyway. you just have to see that they haven't already been counted and it's not so busy that that's difficult but... eh I have enough points so it doesn't matter to me plus I'm not the one doing the counting.

is academic.

It can be hard to know which threads already got awarded, which is why I'll just look at threads from two months ago and then keep in mind threads that are active but haven't reached 150 yet, which means far fewer threads to remember.
