Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

It's funny, sometimes what you think is important is the least important. I started reading this series many years ago. I've read every book several times. When Mr. Rigney became ill, I realized my interest was far beyond a fictional set of books. He was very brave to share his illness with his many fans. His most valuable contribution is his bravery in the face of adversity. I treasure the posts from the past months. I have learned alot. Thank you Mr. Rigney. Thank you Harriet and Wilson. To all his fans, thank you for your posts on the blog. I'll raise a glass of grog tonight and think of a very special person and the very special people in his life.

I just became aware of Mr. Jordan's passing, and I am now touched by great sadness. Mr. Jordan's books have been faithful companions for many years. I remember when I bought the first three books in the series and read all three in no more than ten days during my vacations. Since then I have been avidly waiting for the next book.

I've read many comments, not here, but in different websites from many people who complained about not being to able to read the last book. I believe this people do not have a full appreciation for the work of Mr. Jordan. Those who have will miss him as a friend. He was a superb storyteller and, myself, I will miss him a lot, as he was such an important part of my life for a long time.

I also read that maybe the last book will be written, because of the lengthy notes he left. But I confess I am not concerned with that. I will keep on re-reading the books and looking forward to the occasion of meeting him, wherever we go from here, and hearing the end of the book from his own mouth in High Chant. Now, this would be a perfect ending for the series!

Rest in Peace, Robert Jordan! And thank you for the many moments of extremely pleasant reading.

What an adventure, to leave the pain of sickness behind, and continue on to the next life. New stories unfold from the Dragon's eyes even as we mourn his passing.

From all at the World of Warcraft Aman'Thul Server Guild, , our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Robert Jordan.

Now and forever, Dovie'andi se Tovya Saigan!

He was a great author, and a great man. He was and is an inspiration for all of us, and he and his stories will be missed. Save a place around the campfire for the rest of us, RJ. We want to hear the rest of the story when we get there.

Deepest sympathy for everyone. WoT touched me and kept me from going crazy during undergrad back in 1991. Spend that many years reading, re-reading, waiting, reading some more, and I feel like a member of my life has passed. If I was touched only by reading his works, I can only imagine the impact James had on his friends and family. RIP.

I'm sad. Robert Jordan's books have been part of my life since the first book came out, and I admired his indepth understanding of human nature and ability to tell a complex tale. Truly an inspiration who has influenced my own fiction. We'll miss you, Robert.

There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

I was shocked, I simply sat here for about 15 minutes when I learned of this, I was sure he'd get over it. My prayers are with Harriet and the family, RJ has gone to a better place.

Rest in Peace RJ.

Your series got me through so many hard times as I was growing and helped me to mature and understand alot of things about this life.

May you always find water and shade.

I have only now heard about this loss, our loss, today, but i felt compelled to write something. It was only by chance that I stumbled upon WoT, and i dont think that I've had better luck since. From his books I can tell that he truely was a man among men, and through his books, he had truely become a friend among friends. The world will miss Robert Jordan, and his family will miss James Oliver Rigney. My deepest sympathies.

The Great Spirit knows what it is doing. It only takes the best, at the best moment. It must have felt it needed a creative genius at this moment to help deal with a troubled world from on high.

Being human, I am saddened that we have lost such a brilliant, creative, deep spirit here on earth. Thank you, Mr. Jordan, for opening our hearts and minds to greater possibilities. You have, no doubt, gone to your richly deserved reward.

My heart is filled with prayers and thoughts for his family who have undoubtedly lost a great heart and soul. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us, even as you knew he was slipping away with the effort.

I picked up EYE OF THE WORLD at the airport one day, intrigued by the storyline, and by the time the plane landed, I was hooked. Went out the next day and purchased all of the books out in Hardback (at the time, I think it was just after book 3 came out). I eagarly awaited each book, and have recommended Mr. Jordan to anybody and everybody who wanted a new Fantasy author. I have read the entire series three times completely thru, and may of the books 5 times. Both my sisters, my mother, my nephew, and at least two dozen friends and neighbors are all WoT fans now.

Robert Jordan will be missed. He brightened and filled so many days.

My condolences to family and close friends.
