Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Many thanks to Robert and his wife for the many hours of enjoyable reading I've spent with his works. Best wishes to all of his family. I knew him only in his works but they were enough, and he will be sorely missed by me and countless others. I cannot express in words my confound regret to read that he is gone.

Shattering. Absolutely shattering. My heart goes out to RJ's family. Deepest condolences. I don't know how to continue without sounding callous, so I'll just jump in. The 12th book. Perhaps with a story as great as his, the fact that there is no ending is fitting. A world as great as that may live on in our minds, as vibrant as if it were real, and as real as the world we live in where a story has no finite ending. However, my heart also says this, even though I have no right to tell the family how to grieve. If you know how the last book ends, perhaps by providing closure to the series at some more appropriate time in the future you can also provide some closure to your grieving. Just a thought. Thanks for the wonderful story RJ, and may the wonder of the world you created stand as a lasting testament to your genius and your ability to touch the deepest parts of our souls.

The world Robert Jordan created was one of my favorites to explore (his books are some of the few I will gladly read many times over) and I am experiencing great sorrow that this master storyteller and amazing individual has left us. I never spoke to him or knew him beyond his writings, but will nonetheless in my own way miss him greatly. My deepest condolences, sympathy and prayers go to the family.

To Robert Jordan's family, I offer my sincerest and most heart-felt condolences in your time of loss and grief.

I know that God doesn't always answer our prayers the way we wish he would, but I do know that Robert is in Heaven with God and Jesus, and I certain that Robert would wish all of us to not be angry or disappointed, but rather to be thankful that we were blessed with Robert's presence for a wonderful 58 years on this earth.

I am definitely in shock and deeply disappointed that a rare blood disease took away Robert's life, but I know that all of us that are living have to go on with our own lives, and hopefully, we can all strive to better not only ourselves, but the rest of the world, and make it a better place.

With whatever skills, talents, and abilities that God and Jesus gave to us, we should strive to go beyond what any of us have ever considered possible. If Robert gave us this extroardinary vision that affected so deeply how many of us view why we are here, then we should also believe that with God and Jesus, anything is possible.

I am only 42 yrs. old, and I have been healthy my entire life, but I know that each day I have is a gift from God and Jesus, and we all have a special purpose given to us by God and Jesus, and none of us should feel that we are any less important than anyone else, regardless of what we have accomplished in this world.

For many years, I have chastised myself for not using my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Mathematics as well as I believed I could have, but I realize now what a waste of time that really is.

It's not about who has the most money, or is the smartest, most popular, ect., but it is about being true to your convictions and moral/ethical/religious beliefs, and really caring about other people in this world, not just yourself or your immediate family.

As one fan mentioned above, even though he/she never knew Robert personally (like many fans haven't), we all believed that Robert was someone who was everyone's friend, and that is a very extroardinary achievement for any person to accomplish in their lifetime.

I am positive that literally tens of thousands (or more), would love to be invited to attend Robert's funeral, so that they could pay their respects to a man who served God and Jesus with all his heart and soul.

Personally, for myself, starting tonight, I am going to really make a sincere effort to make more friends, and not get caught up in my own life so much that I might fail to really see what God and Jesus could really do with all the talents, skills, and abilities that I have been given.

So, to all the fans, to Harriet, to Robert's family, and to Robert himself who is probably singing with all the angels, may God and Jesus enable us to celebrate Robert's wonderful and awesome life, and to move forward in our own lives after we take the proper time to mourn such an extroardinary man.

God bless all, and may we all shelter in the hands of God and Jesus.

Sincerely,

many years ago my sister went to a fantasy bookstore and asked the clerk "what would you recommend for someone who thinks nothing will ever be as good as JRR Tolkien"..... she walked out with "eye of the world" and I got it for Christmas that year.... my life has not been the same since...

I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a beloved writer - I feel as though I've lost a friend.

my condolances to His family and friends - Rest in Peace, and thank you.

Dear Harriet and Wilson

Even knowing that he was gravely ill was no preparation for wilson's post. Most sincerly Harriet you have my deepest sympthy. He was the only author I have every come across who interacted with his fans in this most personal of ways. Reading his postings and learning of him as a man and not just some mysterious author was an immeasurable privilage and I will miss hearing from him.

You were right in saying he touched thousands of us from all over the world. He will be missed. Many tears are falling today over a man many of us will never forget. Thank you RJ.

My sincerest condolences to the family and friends. Mr. Jordan was one of the greatest fiction/fantasy writers in the later 20th/early 21st century. I've read and re-read my WOT series until the covers are falling off. Godspeed to the next life Robert! You will always be remembered here.

There probably isn't and probably never will be a man who has entertained, influenced and kept me awake as much as RJ did. There is not much that I could say that hasn't been said before. I'm saddened more and more by every passing moment that one of the brightest lights in modern literature has left us never to return. My condolences to all the loved ones...

My most sincere condolences to the ones our beloved Gleeman loved, and to those of us that may not have properly known him, but loved him nonetheless. He will sorely be missed in this life.

It's with great sadness that I heard of his passing; the last blog post I'd read was so full of hope that I was almost convinced that this terrible disease could be beaten. My deepest sympathy goes out to Harriet (your name has been read and re-read many times on dedication pages!) and the rest of James Oliver Rigney Jr's family.

When I first started reading the WoT over 12 years ago, the books introduced an entire host of brilliant characters and a new world to me, which have stayed with me over the years. The series provided me with countless hours of enjoyment (and anticipation), for which I am thankful.

The rich world woven by Robert Jordan will never die. May he rest in peace.

Thank you Robert JOrdan for allowing us inside your head to see the amazing world of the wheel of time. You have touched many lives and all of these posts are proof of that. Rest in peace. My love and sorrow to Harriet and the rest of his friends and family who are going through a hard time right now.

I sincerely send all of my heartfelt condolences to the family of the creator of the Wheel of Time. I truly fell in love with the world that he created and I admire all of its heroes, moreover though, I admired Mr. Jordan himself most of all. I am truly heartbroken that it had to end before he finished his grand tale, there is a void in my heart that cannot be healed. I just wish we had more time with such a grand lore master, it is truly a dark day. Goodbye sir, the world has lost a great man and a brilliant story-teller. Thank you for all of the memories, I shall cherish them forever.

All we can say is that the world has lost one of the great storytellers. Our love and prayers are with you, Harriet & Wilson, and know that a nation of fantasy addicts and non-fantasy addicts alike are grieving as one. Take care of yourselves and never be afraid to cry. Thank you for sharing so much and for letting millions of strangers into your private lives.

With love and the deepest respect.

Deep condolences to Hariet and the family, and to his WoT family.

While many of never met James, we met him through his writing.

I did meet him (and Hariet) in the mid 90's in Sydney at a book signing. Great fun.

My real life world has been accompanied by the WoT, and I feel great sadness at the passing of a literary genius. I think the answer to the question that stumped us for a decade: Who Killed Asmodean? Robert Jordan wrote it, and it was so.

Many years before discovering the WoT, I accidently read the Conan book by Jordan and thought it was brilliant. It wasnt until 20 years later, and 8 books into the WoT that I realised it was the same man. James Oliver Rigney Jr harnessed the power of the pen (or keyboard), and enabled many to use their imagination, especially myself.

A fan in sadness, Mike Turner, Sydney, Australia.
