Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

There are more "writers" in the world than we could accurately count. There are few true authors. As all here know Mr. Jordan was one of the few. It is always a pleasure when you come across a story that grabs you and you in turn cannot let go. Mr. Jordan gave us all a very great gift. So many recognize the benefit given to us by Doctors, scientists and such. But I ask you, what would this world be like without the dreamers of Mr. Jordan's bent and ability? What good would life be without such rewards as those offered in good old fashioned reading and story telling? We have lost a great man, and once again, as you all know, he will be mourned.

I cannot find the words to describe the feeling when I first read these horrid news. James Rigney, Robert Jordan the Dragon, a role model for millions of fans around the globe has passed away, and as much as it brings tears to my eyes reading the loving words of the family over and over again, I cannot help but linger on the phrases saying he passed away peacefully. And that gives me a tiny spark of warmth in my heart.

To Harriet, Wilson and all the rest of the family and friends I send my deepest condolences. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through right now, but at least know that he fought well! I believe his love for his family, his work, his fans and most importantly his love for you, Harriet, and your love for him is what gave him the strength to get this far, and he passed away with his head high and back straight. You must be an extraordinary woman, and James was just the guy to see and appreciate that. I did not know him personally, but through his work and blogs it is easy to get to know him. Strong, determent and last but not least a man full of love that would never give up!

With these words I say thank you for all you have given us, and for all the tears, joy and inspiration you have given. I dedicate these words to the Dragon himself:

Listen to the tales and romanticize,

How we'd follow the path of the hero.

Boast about the day when the rivers overrun.

How we rise to the height of our halo.

Listen to the tales as we all rationalize

Our way into the arms of the savior,

Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;

None of us have actually been there.

Not like you.

High is the way, but all eyes are upon the ground.

You were the light and the way they'll only read about.

I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.

Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough;

You're going home.

You're the only one who can hold your head up high,

Shake your fists at the gates saying:

"I've come home now!

Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.

Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.

It's time now!

My time now!

Give me my, give me my wings!"

I thought that he, with his strenght and determination, will defeat his illness. He always believed he will, and I believed him. I am very, very sorry, we've lost a wonderful and talented man... So many things he wanted to do but he couldnt... And now it's too late....

My deepest sympathies for all the family and friends. May he rest in peace. His dream his over, but he's made us dream.....

Robert's dedication to his craft as a writer, his rock-hard commitment to enduring human values and his valiant attempt to beat a fatal disease was deeply moving to me, though seen only at a distance. He vowed that he would keep writing until they nailed him into his coffin. And he kept his word; through it all, he kept his word. May his courage light our way.

My sincerest condolances to the family and friends of Robert Jordan. My favorite author has passed away. He was a master storyteller that gave life to his characters unlike any other I've ever read. The world is a little less today than it was yesterday. God bless.

What a loss. I met RJ twice when he toured Down Under, and was deeply impressed by him. We will all miss him.

To Harriet, Wilson, and the members of RJ's family, please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences. My prayers are with you at this time. RJ is at peace now and is not hurting, even though you are. Rest assured, your pain is shared by all of RJ's readers.

He may be gone, but NEVER forgotten.

Rest easy, RJ. Thanks for a wonderful read. May the last embrace of the mother welcome you home.

What's with all these people calling RJ "my Dragon", "our Dragon", "Creator", etc.? Folks, these were fantasy books. Entertainment. Not real life. Stop being corny. It's OK to miss a great author but it's not mentally healthy or normal to think his books have anything to do with your life other than providing entertainment. And, possibly, some influence for aspiring writers.

I started reading his books about 10 years ago and they've provided many hours of entertainment which I greatly appreciate and will miss. To RJ's family, I'm sorry for your loss.

WoT has been a constant in my life since I started Uni in 2000, I've re-read all the books so many times my copies are falling apart, I was only surfing around to day to find out about MoL so the news came as a big shock

My deepest sympathies to his friends and family, he will be sorely missed.

While the Dragon may have woken from the Dream, we will all still dream of him. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and thanks to him and to you as well for helping to bring his world to all of us. It's funny...I commute into NYC every day, and I'm usually one of those commuters who never bothers anyone else on the train, but the one time I did actually say something to someone was when I saw a gentleman reading The Dragon Reborn as I had just begun Knife of Dreams. Just goes to show the power of his work, to bring people out of themselves and unite them in fantasy, beauty and hope. He is sorely missed already. May you rejoice in his life, and know that he is never truly gone.

I started reading "The Wheel of Time" in 1995 at 13 years old, reading "The Eye of the World." Since then I can say nothing I have read has given me more pleasure than to continue to visit this world Mr. Jordan created. I still remember blowing off homework in my first semester of college and staying up till 6 am to finish "Winter's Heart." This is truly a sad day. Thank you Robert Jordan, and may you rest in peace.
