Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

To RJ, quite simply: thank you. To his friends and family: you can rest assured his spirit lives on in all of us in some way. His books will continue to sit on the shelf above the desk where I work, a knowing wink in those dark nights as to what can be accomplished if you simply stop doubting yourself and dare to write.

Mat may not like it, but blood and bloody ashes if those dice aren't still rolling as strong as they ever were...

Been unpacking RJ's books since they first came out (and dealing with fans all those years), been waiting a long time to sit down and read the series, waiting for the final to begin the long hard slog...sad to hear the end has come in such a tragic way (Though I am sure the final book will be released in some fashion, time will tell if justice is done).

For those that matter, family and friends (and yes, even the fans bereft) be one with your need and from each other gain the strength to see the light that was and shall ever be RJ's life.

He will be remembered.

Now if you will excuse me, it's finally time to open that first book and begin the journey so many others have taken before me.

Robert Jordan touched my life deeply through his work, and through the advice he gave me the one time we met. He and his brilliant work will be missed. My feelings are with his family, friends, and fans at this terrible loss.

I'm quite the newbie to "The Wheel of Time". I bought "The Eye of the World" from my local 'Waterstone's' back in early 2006, and, before the year was out, I had devoured all the other books- going shopping became synonymous with buying the next installment, and finding out what happened next. Thank you, Robert Jordan, for so many wonderful times.

My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to Wilson, Harriet, and extended family. A truly great loss.

Perhaps I should've read between the lines in the last 2 posts....The unusual canterousness ( at least unusual in these posts), the telling of the final tale to Wilson, Harriet, etc. I just didn't want to believe the battle could be lost. What a fighter. I wish I'd known him personally, although i feel as if I did through his characters. It seems a bit of RJ was in each person in TWOT, as he knew them all so well. Complex, brave, wry, insightful. I just finished my third reading of them all, but I doubt it will be my last.

He has awoken from the dream. May he shelter in the hand of the creator, forever.

I am so sorry to hear that Robert Jordan has passed on. My condolences to his family. It is so good to hear that he and they kept their faith through this whole ordeal. I have thoroughly enjoyed RJ's writing, and will continue to do so as I re-read the books again and again. Soon my son will be old enough to enjoy them and the legacy will live on...

I am deeply saddened. The world of literature has lost one of its new giants, and more than that, a family has lost one of its hearts. My deepest sympathies and wishes of well-being go to those who had the honor of knowing him personally. God bless you all, and may you see him again in His time.

A friend of mine gave me a book to read years ago, and not being a book reader, I shelfed it. Five years ago for some reason, looking at the cover, I decided to read my first novel cover to cover before I meet my God. I have been a fan of Robert Jordan's ever since, and thanks to him, I now find myself reading books daily and find new authors to explore. I spread the joy of reading to my children and, they now, love to read. I started writing myself and now appreciate the hard work and research involved in making a novel and thats before dealing with editors and publishers etc. So I say good bye to, not only, the best author I have ever read, but I also say good bye to a friend I have never met.

To Roberts Family; I can not tell you anything you will not hear thousands of times in the next few months, so ill say thankyou. You were Roberts strength when he needed it and his anchor to keep him still and for that, my children and I will always know the joys of reading.

You are in our prayers

God bless you all

Words cannot adequately express the sense of loss I feel for the Jordan Family. Mr. Jordan's works were of great inspiration and a wonderful source of thought for me, hell, I even named my first born son Shade, as in "The Shade of my heart". May you all walk in the light.
