  1. Does one's strength in the OP determine his/her strength in the TP if he/she is allowed to channel it?

Also can the TP be drawn through any angreal/sa'angreal?

The answer to the first is unknown but it seems likely.

One hint, the balefire cross in Shadar Logoth seems to be of equal strength. We know Ishamel-Moridin and Rand were approx the same strength as Saidin channelers.

I think RJ said the answer to the second question is "no".

TP cannot be augmented by saidar-saidin angreal.

  2. Omg I just had a horrible thought.  Janduin can channel, janduin goes to the bight, janduin's soul is fodder at thakken dar.  Janduin's body is occupied by ishy

Moridin would be more probable than Ishamael.  Though I am not sure if Janduin's body could be preserved until the time.  The earliest for the resurrection seems to have been within time of Crown of Swords which is almost a year after the death; that seems to imply that the body was not yet available.

We have not been told whether Janduin could channel or not, but he was approaching the Blight; I take he was killed shortly after entering it.

Janduin led the three clans that got out of the Waste to claim Laman's head after he cut Avendesora. He died in the siege of Tar Valon.

The WO say that he coulnd't refuse anything to Shaiel and that he let her come with him despite her pregnancy.

No. Janduin survived the war and went back to the Waste. But he was depressed at the death of Shaiel/ Tigraine, resigned as clan chief and led an expedition to the Blight. There, he was attacked by someone/ something that looked a great deal like a male version of his dead wife and allowed it to kill him. From the descriptions, we know it was Slayer using his Luc form.

  3. Both the theories about how Rand accessed TP remain alive. We don't know for sure.

    1) Rand may have received permission through the GLoD who was trying to provoke him to become a padawan of the Dark Side.

    2) Rand may have had access through the link to Moridin without bringing GLoD into it.

Opinion is also divided on whether GLoD knows at all, if its case 2).

There are several threads in this forum on Rand's link with Moridin, Semirhage, the nature fo TP, etc. You could search on those keywords.

  4. Shadowspawn can't survive a trip through a gateway made from the One Power, what about one made from the True Power?

We don't know. But probably not - for two reasons.

    1) LTT, whose memories Rand is accessing might remember if TP Gateways had been used to transport Shadowspawn during the War of the Power when as many as 29 Chosen had permission to use TP. Of course, he may or may not think about it.

    2) Shadowspawn are constructs that mix OP and TP. If they die going through an OP Gate, they probably die going thru a TP Gate.

  5. What happens if two people BaleFire each other simultaneously?

This has been asked a lot but with confusing and sometimes conflicting answers:

    http://www.steelypips.org/wotfaq/2_nondark/2.3_one-power/2.3.07_balefire.html

Nothing will happen if they are exactly matched in the time of strike and both have enough minimal power to burn the other person's thread out for that millisecond. Observers will see a flicker as they vapourise and immediately strobe back into existence. Eventually they will have to toss dice to break the tie.

  6. Yes, the Guardian detects channeling from outside its own dampening range.

Narishma was sent outside the limit to channel, which made it more believable, when Damer Flinn pretended to channel later on while Cadsuane actually pulled on her humming bird well while pointing out to the council that she had three ashaman with her.

The Guardian can obviously be circumvented if there's a well.

As far we know, there's no saidin well in existence (Except the depleted EotW of course).

  7. Elayne's PoV when she uses a tracker on the pickpocket in KoD suggests that it is just a tracker and can't modify behaviour.

At least if one assumes Elayne knew what she was doing,  and Moiraine didn't add a special wrinkle.

Wouldn't put it beyond Moiraine to know how to add a special wrinkle, and to not hesitate in using it.  She's shown to have worked well outside of convention.

Yes it's possible but there's no clear evidence for it, while there's the (thin) evidence that Elayne, at least, couldn't do it.

  8. Is it possible Lanfear, prior to making the bore, visited the Eelfinn and asked to be the most beautifull, the most powerfull and a way out?  And the Aelfinn to find out where she could find more power and finding the bore?

Sorry, but the site is a bit too massive to go and look whether that theory is already around.  Would explain why she was killed when entering that gate.

The theory has been hotly debated. There is no evidence in the books to support it. There is some negative evidence in that RJ said that the Finn could not provide a permanent boost in OP, etc.

  9. Did Egwene visit Verin's room sometime after Egwene's return to White Tower or is that yet to come?

Were the rooms of Blacks searched after the executions or is that also yet to come?

She may not have had time - the whole purging BA in Salidar and purging BA in WT and being raised to the unified Amyrlin business has happened in about 24 hours. Certainly she hasn't had time to read many enciphered notebooks and to shift through possessions of 150-200-odd women.

  10. I think Hurin is affected by her beauty as well-- he stares at her the same way Rand does, he blurts out secrets in front of her, he grins at her obsessively (chapter 16 of TGH)-- all things that I've heard flustered men do. :P Rand is what, around 19 at this point? And Loial is about the equivalent of that age, too? I think generally guys don't have that kind of tongue-tied reaction past 15.  ::) Hurin is a decent married Shienarian, as well, not exactly the type to ogle a woman.

Anyways... it seems like she has the kind of beauty that you only hear about in stories, but never see in real life. We know she wanted power, and who has more power over men than an astoundingly beautiful one?

    Just some thoughts.

As a Lanfear fan, you might enjoy reading these, if you haven't already

  11. Question:  Do we know when Graendal was in the Tower and/or what she did there?

I was rereading and somewhere in aCoS Alviarin thinks on having met 3 of the Forsaken - Lanfear, Graendal and Mesaana.

Graendal's PoV (when she's talking about tracking Messi) mentions setting up a spy network in the WT. That was probably what she was doing and maybe also looking for angreal, etc. No direct proof though.

I didn't read that part for a time now, but didn't she also met with Ishamael? After he killed the former head of Ajah, didn't he make sure Alviarin wasn't herself party to the murder of that Amyrlin?

Yes and Ishamel made them all suffer a lot before they proved their "innocence". That was when Alvi became head of BA I think. That was a long time ago, before the other Chosen were freed from the Bore.

Belal also had a chat with Alvi at some stage.

  13. she ensured that he has an army by finding former malkieri and telling them the golden crane flys again, towards the gap. and she did this across the borderlands, and by word of mouth and people wanting to be part of the legend people will/have flocked to lans flag

Yes - but how would she know it had worked?

Since she apparently does know, I assumed she was keeping tabs on Lan and the crowd with him. It would be easy for her.

  14. I could be wrong but isn't there a remark by Nyn to Rand to the effect that "I've made sure he has an army"?

I always took that to mean she's keeping track of the effect of her pigeon-sending and rabble-rousing efforts.

I could be wrong since I don't recall the exact phrase.

IIRC, Nyn says it'll take two-three months, maybe more for Lan to reach TG, since she has ensured he has an army.

My (superficial) analysis was, she knows he's got quite a large force with him, which means he will be unpredictably slowed down. Else if it's just Mandarb galloping from World's End to Tarwin's Gap, she knows pretty much how long Lan would take.  The only way she could know he has serious numbers with him is, if she's keeping track.

  15. However, Myrelle who leads the Salidar group has at least one warder who isn't with her (Lan). Since he hasn't gone mad or killed himself, there's some reason to assume that the Salidar group is still (relatively) unharmed.

Other Salidar sisters may also have warders.

Presumably this will be resolved and explained in the Towers of Midnight.

We have no info on Lan that could steer us either way so Lan beeing bonded to Myrelle doesn't mean anything. An other sister's warders are probably with them.

So ok, we don't know. That's as good an answer as any. THanks for your quick answer.

We do have some negative information on Lan, I think. Nynaeve is likely to be quietly watching his move towards Tarwin's Gap without letting him know - she does discuss his ETA with Rand.

  16. According to the Steven Cooper chronology, Logain arrives at Algiarin's manor on April 6, 1000,

The salidar-ites receive the offer to bond Ashaman on April 7.

On April 30, Pevara and Co. arrive. The Salidar party are already there (Taim ko's an Ashaman who nearly lets that info drop).

People in both Towers (now reunited) are worried about their respective embassies because there's no news for at least a month.

    (TGS ends in early June).

  17. who knew how far over the edge he was. and Mask of Mirrors works better if it is closer fitting to the truth, so it is easier for a man. Although possible for a woman it takes alot more weaves for her.

Also in book 3 Masema and the other shienarians are sent away from rand for a time, and masema gets contacted by the 'dragon' in what book

True - which makes me wonder which Chosen had the skills to do a Two Rivers Accent. Doubt the Mask of Mirrors will do an accent for you.

Masema was with Rand for long periods from EotW till early TDR.

Hated him for most of that period and swore fealty to him after Falme.

    They haven't met since.
