Yay bonus options! I or 3 seem like good options, but I am going with 1 since it looks like the last choice and I was hopeful that was going to be the next choice.

@WillRNDad and I watched all of Home Improvement (might be dating us) and Shifting Gears. We also are currently watching The Last Man Standing. All are hilarious. We are not upto date on the last season and final season of WoT, but that's my fault. Waiting on a day to binge watch.

This was my thought too. Saving or freeing the child may lead to a less assaultive action allowing for peace, hopefully.

They always have an air about them, partially, I feel, because of their positions. However, I feel they do become more likeable/tolerable/humbled throughout the series. They never lose their flare, but lessons learned help this. @WillRNDad has read the series at least 4-5 times, starting when the books were not all published yet. He may have more insight, as I myself, am newer to the series as well.
