  1. Taim was quiet old channeler for that time. Perhaps he survived with the protection of DO qed DF.

Taim was glad to be given some responsibility in tBT. Had he not helped, all male channelers might have been good.

Also at the end they turned some good guys too. Had things gone as they wished, they could have turned all of them. A risk, but with great risk...

As to all the helping Rand, concern, etc. it could have been self serving. Rand going mad too early and Taim loses tDT. Once in power, he knew he couldn't go against Rand with callendor or even fat man angreal, so create whatever trust he could until the right time.

DFs live undercover for their entire lives. Taim could have been turned before start of story, 10+ yrs ago.

  2. Masema's madness may have been progressive, so neither challenges need to be answered by a sensible response.

He may think he is more invulnerable.

He may generally treat women better than men.

Nynaeve asked for a favor, magnanimity is easy then.

Perrin came after attacking some men

    ...

  3. Ingtar moved the guards away from the right places at the right time so Fal Dara could be attacked.

The waste didn't need that level of subterfuge as it was mostly empty.

A large number can be moved thru the ways so long as you are willing to be patient. And with so many Stedding in the dragon wall...

  4. Since the OP was used to create the world/universe, that means that there is a superstructure outside the world/universe where an alien created the world/universe from.

OP is everywhere and outside the universe.

The superstructure can be where the pattern operates from, and DO and Creator are just two aliens that are limited by the superpattern.

  5. There was a moment at the end of the second to last book.

Meirin/Lanfear is in Rand's dream. I would have taken it a completely different path. Somehow Meirin is so badly punished by DO (as she claimed in his dream) that she loses her pride.

Cool headed zen Rand finally convinces her to join the side of the Light and once he saves her, she tells him that the seals on the original prison were threaded thru Tree of Life cells, she and Ishy severed the connection between the tree (that tree is artificial) and the prison. The aiel have to return to the way of the leaf and be allowed in any land to plant Trees. Unlike cuellidar which can be corrupted, living cells can die, but so long as there is one living tree, the prison of DO is perfect, not failing like Lews was. The ending at Shayol ghul did not work for me, it had nothing to do with Channeling, Rand just sat there and contemplated existence.

  6. Crown not a terangreal, Rand chipped it during one of his falls.

Bowl may have been overstressed, but Rand/Nynaeve destroyed female key and saangreal on sea folk island without creating similar vibrations.

More likely when DO stopped the weather, he had the seasons tied up pretty tight, maybe TP involved. Bowl's OP weaves rubbing and pulling on TP weaves, tearing etc. to quote the sea folk, it will take time to turn, validates an extensive time frame for a friction in the Force.

  7. Kesiera, Binding isn't a punishment. Binding was the civilized set of controls you put on a sadistic pathological channeler so you wouldn't have to sever them. A side effect was a half life (or much less) but as discussed above, severing would shorten life to only 50 more years max.

Nakomi wasnt Tigraine, Aviendha isn't a dream walker.

OP was what the Creator use to create the planet. By that logic, the Creator is/was an alien. OP is part of the universe. The Pattern was created by the Creator and yes, it cheats by tripping baddies and always bumps the goodies out of the way of any arrows that would have killed them.

  8. Moraine's horse isn't small. It is just much smaller than Lan's Borderland trained warhorse.

It seems clear Tear are Arabians. Dhurrans do sound like Clydesdales. Most of the other horses are just horses. RJ either didn't have the time or other to really bring much to that discussion.

I also thought a Razor was a Zebra. Zebras are generally considered wild, and too hard to train. Tho in RJs universe, a breed of "horse" only trained for one nation's nobility could have been a Zebra. They may have breed out certain traits, had a secret training technique, or that universe could just be different than ours.

It wasn't, because he says it wasn't.

  9. The funny thing is we all take it for granted that channeling is the way to get things done. But is it?

Hypothesis: Channeling isn't real. The only way to get things done is to bend the pattern to your will.

1 Nynaeve is capable of creating more complex weaves without training than women who were trained.

2 Egwene can convert millions of tons of iron into cuellidar instantaneously.

3 Rand can use tDO's power because he doesn't like what's happening when he is Adam-ed.

4 Taveren get what they want.

5 Elayne can recreate Terangreal without knowing how any of them were ever made. Even the one that unweaves weaves.

6 Rand no longer needs the illusion of weaves once he has seen beyond the curtain and manipulated the entire world to fit his vision.

  10. without looking up who mentioned entropy... channelers increase entropy, they can make fire, but a raging fire can only have its heat dissipated, not destroyed, freezing seems to be drawing heat out

women make better bridges because their weaves are less rigid

  11. Kael Pyralis:there are so manyancient societies just a few thousand years ago that we know so little about. imagine if a breaking had occured...

Theodril: 2.2 to grow... randland should need less (post trolloc wars) safer environment, less conflict, better medicine... of course there may have been quiet a bit of recovery post breaking to trolloc wars

Gudd: as high as the population is in the cities, those populations still eat and so the farming communities must still exist

everbody: in the books, the characters do say, one can't fly because it is impossible to pick onesself up by their own boot straps. The second half of this statement is true, but the first half is not. to fly one does not pick themselves up, but push down on the air around them, airplane wings are large enough to push down on a sufficient amount of air (for those who understand lift better, know it is about pressure) but it is even easier to see by a helicopter, to hover, one must shove downward a mass of air equal to the flight vehicle.

  12. Else was also Verin, it all makes sense.

Uh? what am I missing here Lanfear disguised as Else.

Nakomi couldn't have been Verin. Verin had no idea where Avi would be.

Silvie wasn't a baddie, when she pushed Egwene out of Telrhoid, Eg felt pain cause that is how it works, not cause Silvie was a baddie. Lanfear sent the girls to Tear because she thought she needed that to draw Rand, she wasn't helping the girls, she never did help them (at least neither intentionaly or directly). Silvie seems to be helping Eg. She may be Randlands other dreamer, who we may never meet again... four in aiel land maybe there is two in randland and silvie is self taught, fights for the light...

if she has to be a main char - Berelain is my best guess

I don't see Nakomi being a main char.

  13. So blaming it on the Dark One is perfectly fine, if a bit of a cop-out.

i have been trying to lead everyone to this conclusion or make a good arguement, but I like your blunt statement tho.

Ruthan Gudd: the whole arguement preseposes a better than 1700s birthrate for the majority of the NE (last thousand years) compared to recent earth history where birthrates began to pick up in the last few centuries

  14. Mr. Ares: yeah, I'm not really concerned with the perception of randlands population, they have less schooling and no scientific method, little mathematical modeling, that we saw growing up, exponential growth graphs etc... they may not have understood how broken their population growth was, we do and it is not subtle.

Their population should have been growing, but it fell dramatically.

wc brooks: are you saying abortions and contraception are the tools of Shaitan?

WW population were not based factual realities, but psycological realities, people had low motivation to have children during a war, but after the war, the relief and blooming hope encourages increased birth rate.

wars depress economies, becasue people spend less. and there are fewer businesses are open so the jobs market can be even worse. increases in population grow the economy, increased demand.

  15. Benevolent:

In Two Rivers, I think only the distant mountains have taboo, and the western farms have stony soil, but if you recall Perrin's tours of the the center of two rivers, it all seems very fertile and sparsely populated.

Empire collapse... not really sure I have ever heard much about this, perhaps Mayan city collapse, or fall of Roman empire, the people didn't disappear, Greece and Italy continue to exist, they are not vacant lands!? There are only theories about the Mayan city collapse, but I think people just left the city to live in villages, I don't think people disappeared.

There are definitely places people would not want to go, but there are so many places where people can go.

  16. Benevolent: that is a good arguement for people to up and expand in an area far from an established town, but not explain why established cities would collapse, as I mentioned Two Rivers should be bursting, and I would give a hall pass to western Cairheinians, but the rest of Randland?

Mr Ares: completely didn't understand your remark...

Master: you too, didn't understand your remark...
