  1. Is Mary Poppins Black Ajah? Did she draw children into the dream world without their consent? By the end of the movie Mary murders a man. And Mary flies like the woman in Egwene’s first visit to Tarabon in the dream world. Also many of the other mechanics in Mary Poppins’ presence can only occur in the dream world.

  2. Rand not the creator.

Think of the creator as the architect and Rand as Neo.

Rand’s final pattern reweaving ability shown in dialog with the Dark One in last book. Prior to that dialog, he didn’t create anything new, the pattern was twisted one way by DO and it was being held down by the DO, Rand released the DO force on the pattern.

How can DO twist the pattern? Imagine DO actively holding open a 3D portal to a World of If. Even DO can’t change the pattern.

  3. Lanfear first sent the girls to the library disguised as Else. She was afraid Mat would casually touch her on the path and pierce her illusion. I don’t know why Lanfear wanted the girls in Tear. She couldn’t have predicted 3 girls would beat 13 aes sedai and protect Rand for her. Maybe Lanfear can read taveren and the girls are minor taveren, so she used that to protect Rand.

I really like Sylvie so I hate to admit it, it is her, Lanfear. I never like her Selene persona, tho if I were there in RL, I probably would have been drooling over her like Rand, Hurin and Loial. I like the calling Ishy a fool, it sounds like something an old wise woman might say ?

Sylvie seems too homey for a play by Brigitte, besides Brigitte never tried to disguise herself.

Also when Lanfear tried to murder Egwene and Avienda, I never thought she didn’t know which was which. One was clearly an Aiel girl, the other a Westlander. I’m guessing Lanfear got the report that Rand slept with a girl. And she went into a completely blind rage. She couldn’t see straight let alone think. She grabbed those two girls thinking he slept with one of them. She could have accidentally grabbed the wrong two girls she was so angry.

Also, it seem Lanfear is better at controlling your dreams, Moghy is more of Telrhoid master. Lanfear entered Rand’s dreams. Moghy can turn a person into a horse in Telrhoid permanently or even tear Brigitte’s soul off of the wheel.

  4. The premise is that a even a king may not be allowed access to the Amyrlin, but any poor woman would be allowed...

    why?

i just accept these things when I read them, that’s their society, but there is no reason to prefer women over men. Given Min’s excuse later, she should have been spoken to kindly by any aes sedai, and then sent to wash dishes if she persisted, not swept into the Amyrlin’s office.

  5. I like Mat. I dislike Perrin while his wife was kidnapped (most of the time).

The Aes Sedai speak about blood as if it retains a genetic memory for humans too (a la Assasin’s Creed) it just needs to be unlocked via traumatic events, like Mat’s soul being cleansed of Shadar Logoth taint.

  6. LTT ran a raid on Shayol Ghul, saying he knew LTT is a horrible argument to support Rand would be at Merrilor.

Maybe Rand did to Demandred what he did to Sammael in reverse. Rand got Sammael to fortify Illian so he could fight him there (the detour for the final duel at Shadar Logoth was really the fight for Illian). Sammael once he chose his home for which he would fight to the death, Rand could kill him.

Rand could have told Demandred through his actions, that if Demandred wants to kill Rand, he only need come to Merrilor and Rand will fight him to the death. Demandred got the message Rand wanted him to get, but not the truth.

It should have been possible for Demandred to pierce the subterfuge, but not granted that he must see through it. The result we saw, be it Taveren powers helping Rand, or Rand successfully tricking Dem, or Rand just forgot all about Dem, the result we saw is not a flaw in the story.

There are flaws in the story, this just isn’t one of them.

  7. Hard to explain, but I’ve been working out in the field shirtless and women have come up to me and I felt no discomfort. Same at a beach or pool.

When I go into town... 7-11 policy, shirt and shoes ?On a hot summer day walking in a city, I kept a couple buttons done on a shirt.

A bare chest is perfectly natural in one place and aggressive in another.

  8. The Blight border won’t have peace for many years. And that peace won’t just eventually happen on its own.

Randland needs to be unified to accelerate technological advancement and channeling ability. And only after significant advancement, a unified Randland can begin the multi-decade project of cleaning the Blight.

    1. Military, kill all the major populations.

    2. Sterilization, systematic destruction all plants, bugs, etc.

    3. Supernatural cleansing, power based.

  9. The dark side won hundreds of years ago, the land unified under one ruler, the Dark One, technology advanced. Forsaken, now free, were flying around in their G6s. #Contrails

The laser damage is a bit more confusing, fired from a satellite? They are all east-west...

The Seachan returned sooner, lost the war, but they brought an invasive species, the Grolm. The Grolm eventually destroyed all life in Randland, even Trollocs. The surviving Grolm continued to feed on each other.

And as to Lanfear, she did not care who Rand was. She wanted to turn Rand to the dark side. She wanted to use his power ability to draw Saidin. She wanted to dominate him to repay “him” for leaving her. She gave up when Rand slept with Avi.

  10. Spoilers

Avienda’s future vision means it is possible.

Tuon could maintain the peace her whole lifetime. As in the “dream”, it is her child, or their grandchildren that take Randland down that path.

All the power in Randland means nothing if it isn’t unified. Galad’s death means Berelain won’t marry into Trakand. Any Andorian alliance with Saldea cannot involve Saldea leaving the border to defend Andor. The only true Alliance that can survive a generation is the Andor/Cairhien super country.

Avi’s vision is telling what will happen, not because it must happen, but because it always had. Hawking’s death lead to the collapse of Randland. For the Wheel of Time to turn, society must collapse or the Wheel will stop turning.

  11. He knows them, but he doesn’t like staying with them, he lives where there are no people for miles and miles. So when these people are nearby he visits, but my Prof lives in NYC all year long and goes on 2 week vacay. And the farmer. People are different, but they are also the same.

  12. Instead of Rand imagining the world without DO, he could have woven a prison that is invisible. Before last book, I thought I knew how it would end.

Meirin wasn’t lying, she comes to the Light, helps Rand understand that the original prison was woven thru the cells of the tree of Life. Then Meirin dies in the last battle saving Rand, gets tied to the wheel.

Only Nynaeve can figure out and weave the prison, working with Rand.

The Aiel return to the Way of the Leaf. They travel all the lands planting Trees of Life. The Aiel can travel anywhere, greeted with respect. Everyone likes the Trees.

No one knows the Trees are focus of the prison. Walking under the tree, feels a little like walking into a stedding, the air seems fresher, stress dissipates, it is not like an overdose of Valium.

Galad doesn’t die. He marries Berelain.

Elaida’s Tower becomes the new Black Tower, but both Ashaman and Aes Sedai spend almost equal time in each. Even Novices and Soldiers (renamed Initiates) have to attend channeling in either building due to linking lessons. Most marry and have kids. Even those who cannot stay as professional channelers, are encouraged to stay close, meet other channelers, marry another with channeling ability, each baby from the union would get a gift from the Twin Towers.

Eventually the Seachan give up the adam. Tuon bonds Mat. Seachan help fill unoccupied land in the Westlands.

Altara regains control of their kingdom with closest ties to Seachan. Altara becomes the first national democracy. But the first true democracies are the City-States of Almoth, with no need for “national” defense they never form a nation. Two Rivers become a democratic state within the Andoran country.

    Did I miss anything?

  13. Aiel Blacksmiths follow the way of the leaf.

Master Luhhan is queasy of blood.

    Coincident? Or an Easter egg?

I don’t think it is discussed, but do gentle souls among the Aiel become blacksmiths? Or do Blacksmiths have to undergo what Avi did when the wise ones decided she had to burn her spears?

  14. My psychology professor used to go into the wilderness for weeks at a time. Being away from people for long period of times impacts their ability to communicate. Ranchers and farmers who live alone are uncomfortable around people (see Smarter Everyday Eclipse video).

Perhaps Elyas interaction with the wolves offset the influence of being alone, but I think it is more likely RJ didn’t think of checking up on how a person like Elyas should act.
