Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion
DigificWriter replied to SinisterDeath's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
Off-topic vent incoming (sorry): It's really weird - and frustrating - to me that, even two seasons later, there are still people out there who insist that Siuan and Moiraine's "FFH" was Tel'aran'rhiod despite direct confirmation to the contrary from Rafe Judkins himself. Okay, vent over. Back to S3 discussion. I don't think I've said this yet, but I really like Faile; her interactions with Perrin were fun and there's definitely palpable chemistry between them. -
It's still hard for me to reconcile Lanfear's comment to Ishy with the confirmation of a 4/4 gender split and the inclusion of Semirharge, but we are where we are. Anyway, the last unidentified Forsaken is most likely Asmodean because all of the fandom's collective guesses as to which statues matched which Forsaken have been proven correct thus far and there's not any reason to think that streak is going to be broken on the last one.

Perrin saw Bain & Chiad before they showed up, but that's because he's Perrin.

One of the items that Nyomi stole was the bracelet portion of a male A'dam; because the Sean'chan use A'dams and Tanchico is near Falme and Toman Head (the Sean'chan's original territory centuries ago), Elayne discerns that the most likely location for the collar portion of the male A'dam that the Black Ajah are looking for is Tanchico. Liandrin being from Tanchico - which they figured out based on the symbol that they found in Aludran's rooms - means that she would know that Tanchico is the most likely location of the collar portion of the male A'dam and is therefore why she (Liandrin) would take her fellow Black Ajah there (in addition to her personal desire to lay her son's soul to rest ritualistically).

Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion

Not really. The most recent numbers we have available to us list Netflix's subscriber count at 301.6 million, which is a mere 100.6 million more people than are subscribed to Amazon Prime globally (Prime Video is automatically included for every one of those 200 million subscribers, even if not all of them actually use it). I did just learn that the current hurdle to getting Season 4 doesn't appear to be on Amazon's end, but I still feel confident that things will get worked out positively in the end. -
S3E2:A Question of Crimson - Discussion

Whatever Weaves,he's cast - and tied - on himself are not only compelling the people around him to behave as if they are familiar with him, but also implanting false memories of him in the minds of those same people. It makes sense if you're willing to let it, but your problem is that you're just looking for reasons to criticize the show and therefore aren't willing to let it make sense. -
When you're literally one of the only people acting like these episodes are bad, you're not judging them on their merits; you're judging them on yours, and therefore aren't actually interested in being fair and unbiased.

Touching on whether or not the wedding slaughter would draw attention to the Black Ajah, I would point out that it happened inside a private residence that belonged, in some way, to Liandrin given that the groom was a member of the family of her own (presumedly dead) husband.

S3E2:A Question of Crimson - Discussion

Take up the 'Star Wars is an adaptation of Arthurian Legend' thing with my Creative Writing teacher (who, as mentioned, also taught High School English), because that's precisely how she described it. No, there is not (despite some people's attempts to claim otherwise). -

It's not "nonsense". I simply do not place arbitrary restrictions on Adaptation as an art form. If you don't like the 'The Lion King is an adaptation of Hamlet' example, you're not going to like the other big example I'm going to use, which is that Star Wars is an adaptation of the Arthurian Legends and myths (something that was pointed out to me by a High School English teacher who also taught a Creative Writing class that I took as an Elective). -

The Wheel & Chill Show - which is primarily Livestreamed on Kritter's YouTube channel (on Mondays at 7:30 pm Central) but was briefly on Ta'varen's YouTube channel while Kritter was absent due to pregnancy - is a lot of fun because of the format, which is split into Zero-Book-Spoiler chat (most often with a Show-Only guest) and Full-Book-Spoiler chat (which I stick around for despite classifying myself as a Show-Only fan). My personal go-tos for Show-Only content right now are the Watch Party Wheel of Time and Podcastica Wheel of Time podcasts (in which the commentary is split between/driven by one or two people who are fans of the books and one or more individuals who aren't)_ although only the former has started coverage of Season 3 as of yet. -

I love her content. She and the hosts/panelists from the Wheel & Chill Show - KritterXD, Winespring Cafe, and Ta'varen Tavern - are my go-tos for WoT!Show content because they're WoT diehards whose overall positivity about the adaptation stands out as an Oasis in a fandom climate where the haters of the show are literally taking offense at any opinions that don't match their own. -

Never. An adaptation will always be an adaptation even if it only has the barest of resemblances to the thing it's adapted from. Case in point: Disney's The Lion King is an adaptation of Hamlet even though the only thing that remains of that work are its underlying themes. -
Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion

We've already gotten indications that a decision on Season 4 will be made based on views, and while we'll never actually know what the show's 'success threshold' is, I feel confident in its ability to reach/surpass said threshold just because of the prevalence of Prime Video and the general pervasive interest in the Fantasy genre that dominates societal culture. -

Not gonna touch the book question because I'm a Show-Only fan. I will say this, though: Olivia Williams has a history of playing characters who are portrayed in a heroic light but who still do barbaric and ruthless things (see Tula Harkonnen, Adelle DeWitt). I'll also cite another example of a heroic character doing barbaric and ruthless things without ceasing to be heroic: Westworld's Robert Ford orchestrating the Host uprising and triggering Dolores Abernathy's 'Wyatt' personality program. -

Committing barbaric or ruthless acts does not make a character evil. Ned Stark and Robb Stark beheaded people; that didn't make them bad guys. -

I'm not worried because I feel confident that Amazon will continue to get whatever it is that it wants out of the show and therefore renew it. -

I might be the only person out there who isn't worried about the show's chances of renewal. -
That's not a recasting; that's a change in character. The primary reason roles get recast is if the original actor is unavailable or otherwise leaves. It's far simpler, logistically and practically, to, for example, bring Fares Fares back as Ishy - if he's available - than to introduce a completely new actor and say that said actor is Ishy reincarnated (especially since the Metaphysics of reincarnation are different in the show than in the books).
-
If we get Forsaken being resurrected/reincarnated, it's likely to just be in the same bodies they previously had, for the simple reason that it's more logistically practical to bring back already-established actors than casting new actors to play the characters.

DigificWriter replied to SinisterDeath's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
It really does show that, despite being weaker than Ishy, Lanfear, and Moggy (who are either stated or implied to be the 3 strongest Forsaken in the show), he's still pretty powerful. -

In order for things to work out as they're shown, Rahvin/Gaebril had to have cast - and tied - weaves onto himself that almost* instantaneously affect everyone around him by implanting false memories in their brains and/or compelling them to behave like he's familiar to them. * I say "almost" because there's clearly a moment where Leanne isn't affected since she doesn't immediately recognize and announce him -
Malkier (probably as a child). That was (apparently) Moggy in disguise.

There's absolutely nothing onscreen from the Blood Snow to make Unspoiled Show-Only people connect it to the Tigraine name-drop (at least right now). -

I'd argue the assertion that dropping the name Tigraine reveals anything unless, like me, you're a Spoiled Show-Only person.
