I agree with that part that it is some kind of Ter'angrel. My Dreamer thought came from her saying she had the same dream over and over again for weeks about the DO and the Eye of the World while she and Moiraine were wherever the Ter-angrel led to. They used this to introduce the need to go to the Eye, but I feel that the original introduction in the books of Ishy telling the EF kids that the Eye would not serve them while in their dreams and then Loial recalling an Aiel saying Sightblinder intended to bling the eye as a stronger way to introduce this than through Siuan's dreams or at least Siaun's dreams alone.

Didn’t have enough time in show to do as in books…

This Ter’amgreal picture for siuan is her way into TAR so she can see these dreams, good way for show to introduce the dreamworld to non-readers.

I have a post recently on the projecting of dreams in TAR in the Dragon Reborn which focuses on both the mechanics as well as intent for Rahvin, Sammael, and Be’lal in that particular book. While I guessed on mechanics and was confirmed  by another forum member in that regard the intent on the dream projections is a subjective matter open to debate amongst book readers.

For interpretations regarding siuan that you mentioned Ba’alzamon would have to be very close and targeting siuan and her dreams would have to be not warded unless she was in TAR frequently according to mechanics of the book.

My impression is that Siuan is not a dreamer.  I could be wrong.  In her office she had the same ter'angreal that Moiraine has.  I think they are both just using ter'angreL.

Definitely using the Ter'angreal as conduit for Tel'aran'rhiod. Great way for writers to introduce TAR and have Moraine and Siuan be able to explain if need be to the girls later on

Hm. I do think we'll probably be lead to think as the audience that Ishy is the DO and it's he who they actually fight at the Eye.

Does anybody think we'll get the Forsaken of the books at the Eye?

Do you think we'll get the Green Man?

Those are some great questions!! The books led us to believe Ishamael was the DO many times and confused Rand and others for three straight books so looks like show is going in a similar vein there. In the books Moraine was only one who saw through Ishamael as not dark one so twist she thinks its the DO in the show! Green man would be fun but difficult to pull off so probably ok if that's cut out.

I hope we see Balthamel and Aginor and some good special effects in the eye, would be a great into into the forsaken and their extreme channeling so hope that hooks some new fans of the show can do it well...

Ngl I loved the first four episodes but the past two have sucked for me.

These aren't the characters I care about. I like Moraine well enough..but we've had two whole episodes with barely any time happening for Rand/Mat/Perrin

Such a waste of  time. I'm very frustrated. I'll give them until season 2 but...just ugh. Very disappointed that it seems it's just going to focus on Moraine as the focal point.

Be patient, the wheel weaves as the wheel wills and she's a producer on the show. Moraine influence diminishes as a character but then again she is a producer too

I found myself unexpectedly tense during the initial Hall scene. Wasn't a huge fan of all the Aes Sedai politicking when I read the books, but it definitely drew me in here.

    Loved the cold open.

Was a little bummed about how the waygate opened but I'll get over it.

Felt like a Ter'Angreal to TAR?

I definitely agree it has to be a Ter'Angreal to Tel'aran'rhiod with them going to Siuan childhood burned down shack in Tear. Loved the opening scene too with young Siuan on the river fishing....only RJ describes Tear as super flat ground and muddy in the Maule... but I think the show is going with a mountainous backdrop so I'm ok with the change there, it was aesthetically pleasing opposed to see her dragging lines in New Orleans?

Same. Usually can shake it off on my second viewing and enjoy the episode more as a “viewer.”

I had that same feeling for episode 1 and it took a second viewing for me to actually like it. The first time watching episode 1-2-3 hated the first and tolerated the second and third.

Once episode 4-5-6 came out I had separated the book wheel from the series wheel enough to appreciate them each upon the initial viewing and become more excited for the next installment each subsequent week. I think the final two episodes are gonna be amazing! The Ways shouldn’t be too hard to pull off but the eye, green man, forsaken and Ba’alzamon etc will need to be epic for the series to really stand out to the masses and I think it will.

It feels pretty clear that they're just flat out wrong about this. The show is playing up the reality-from-the-books that the Aes Sedai don't know as much as they think they know.

"Lol let's send these five and see what happens" is pretty comparable as a 'plan' as Moiraine's plan in the books. That is: neither is a particularly good plan and in both cases they are sorta just falling into obvious traps. But again, book-Moiraine never imagined the world-changing reality of the DR.

Mat staying behind was a bit of a shock to me.

Moiraine's wording of the oath notably differed from Siuan's: while Siuan said "obey the judgement of the AS", Moiraine said "obey the judgement of Siuan Sanche". ?

Maigan: "ships disappearing in the west"

    Me: "reeeeeee"

Rand think he kills the dark one in the first 3 books…

Channellers that have the power levels that the Forsaken do, and do not shield their dreams, will force those dreams onto the people around them. They will dream of whatever those figures fear, or long for. They will even act out those channellers very deepest emotions without realising it.

Those dreams will also occur every night until either they shield their dreams or are killed.

Loial made a note of it, because Ogier are extremely sensitive to the mood of locations. They also know precisely what is causing that experience.

Remember Loial's report in Illian that a group of stonemasons left after one night when Sammael appeared there.

This action was caused because the Ogier knew a Forsaken was in the area, since they would have knowledge passed down about the effects of being near one from the Age Of Legends. Information the Aes Sedai did not have.

Faile, meanwhile, made note of Illian, because she had been there recently, and noticed a vast change in the people.

Excellent response, thanks, that is more or less what I was thinking too. Obviously Rand learns more about it from Asmodean later on in Shadow Rising to shield his dreams etc...

My question is why would it behoove the Forsaken to not shield their dreams in "Dragon Reborn". Wouldn't that be a clear tell of where they were? It is only the powerful male forsaken (Rahvin, Sammael, and Be'lal) who don't bother to shield their dreams as they have taken over the rule of Andor, Illian and Tear respectively...is it male hubris that they don't care who knows where they are? Obviously they aren't afraid of any current Aes Sedai but the chosen are well known to plot against one another so not really sure what benefits they would gain by not shielding their dreams. I would imagine the other women forsaken are shielding their dreams at this point once they are released into the world...

E6 cold open is going to be a flashback to Siuan as a child in Tear, probably first channeling or something like that, before a smash cut to the Amrylin Seat approaching/entering TV. Roll intro

Definitely going to get the full party reunion as well, I think. Some answers for Mat. Fain makes his big move, although I doubt we'll get answers for what his game is yet. Siuan and Moiraine publicly at odds, privately embrace (and yes I've shipped this since I was a teen let me have this one, show!!). Episode ends on them entering the Ways.

Still don't know all that gets them to these points (Fain stealing the dagger makes sense) or where the Eye comes into play...

Oh and I was wrong last week but I'll keep guessing until I'm right: Ba'alzamon speaks in this one

That would be great to see Siuan in Tear as the intro!!

Fain will likely steal the dagger early, preventing the full healing. That also means that they might be chasing him through the Ways rather than than the opposite--which makes sense because I seriously doubt we'll see trollocs and myrddraal in TV.

Perhaps we'll see Rand brought before the Amyrlin like he was in TGH.

If they do merge a bunch of TGH Fal Dara scenes in here I can only hope we get a moment of Leane (or maybe Alanna to conserve actors) cooing over Perrin. Using Alanna would tie into the later plot arcs nicely.

Totally agree Fain will steal the dagger here...it looks like the Fal Dara actors aren't in it until season 2 so my guess is he steals it and they are only partially able to heal Mat until he can Hunt Fain in season 2 he won't be fully healed

  11. I'm wondering if anyone has any theories on why all the people in Illian and Tear in "The Dragon Reborn" all look so hopeless and downtrodden? Obviously we know they are all having similar dreams (as well as in Andor as noted by Basel Gill) so the forsaken (Rahvin, Sammael, and Be'lal) must be projecting from TAR into the dreams of the respective peoples of each land but do we ever get an explanation of what is going on there? Loial notes that something is wrong in Tear and Perrin and Failed note something similar earlier when they are traveling through Illian.

Will post running thoughts on the episode here: Weeeeee.

    • I do like that both sides of the battle got a proper burial. Thats classy of the Aes Sedai.
    • The shallow graves don’t bother me - deep graves are for coffins and to ensure flooding doesn't unbury. Im sure thats not likely an issue here.
    • The circle is reminiscent of the Wheel. Heavy symbolism.
    • LMAO - a month later. Damn show you jump even when not jumpin.
    • ”Warders are not supposed to outlive their Aes Sedai”
    • ”I think I’ve seen it before” - Welcome home Lewis Therin. I mean not the Dragon Reborn.
    • Tar Valon looks gorgeous.
    • BLOOD AND ASHES!!!!!!! BLOOD AND ASHES!!!!!!
    • Yes Rand, Tar Valon is expensive. Thats how supply and deman works.
    • I like that Mat fears he killed the family. The character depth ❤️
    • Finally using proper words like “The Source”
    • “I’ll be joining the dogs” - you don't say Perrin?
    • Whitecloaks keep dat hand strooong lol

    • ”An Aielman from the Two Rivers who insists he is not an Aielman”
    • The laughing is wonderful lol. Bless Logain’s heart.
    • The feels for Stepin.
    • ”first you lose Moiraine” - wonder if someones gonna feel a bit like a heel later lol.
    • Melty Ring Rituals FTW. Way easier than the One Ring.
    • Finally an explanation of the crutch.
