Which goes to show that maybe a good TV adaptation should throw the book out the window and ignore the source material and therefore defends Rafes actions so far and says in future he should go much much further.

And also the 65% on RT is the audience score. Last I checked there wasn’t even 5k votes. When I look at RT I tend to check the critic score only. Fans and haters of shows, especially when it is an adaption, brining with it an established fan base, tend to skew results. Prime example is IMDb. The show is not a 10/10 nor is it a 1/10.

Fair enough then, it is the best ever made series in history with absolutely nothing wrong with it….The highest possible quality throughout, the pinnacle of thousands of years of entertainment, flawless acting, flawless scripts, flawless special effects!

Is that really what you believe? Or is the series really not that good?

I can’t think of a single series that ever came close to perfection myself…

Are you sure your passion for the show isn’t impairing your judgement?

    ? Speaking of passion.

No, the show has flaws (what show doesn’t as you say also). I was simply saying that what you stated as fact in your initial post was simply your opinion.

Look at the poll in this very thread.  People invested enough in WoT to track down a forum have made their voices heard.  More people are unhappy with either changes or just overall quality of the show than are happy with it.

I’d be interested in seeing the numbers on that poll. How many people voted and then haven’t been back? How many votes are made up of accounts created by people already on DM who wanted to skew the numbers? Applies to people for and against the show.

Truth is regardless of whether or not people like it, the show just isn’t very good…It’s nothing to do with opinion or taste…The story doesn’t wow, the scripts aren’t great, the acting could be better(actors are young/new to character/roles not saying they aren’t talented and they have time to grow into it) the special effects can be iffy etc..

What??? Lol this is 100% what an opinion is… I, along with many others disagree with it. That is our opinion.

Yikes. This should not be normalized in any way. Any amount of death threats greater than zero is too many.

I agree with your last statement. But the irony lies in us expecting social media to function simultaneously as a town hall and viper pit.

Obviously without seeing her DM's we can't know for certain - but I can just imagine the type of shit she's receiving and no doubt it would be from men who are likely saying things they wouldn't say to a male, so I don't doubt what she's saying at all.

Watching this was interesting, and sad. More proof that constant use of social media can't be good for mental health. If I could reach out to Sarah directly, I'd advise her to ditch social media entirely freeing herself to focus on doing the best job she can in whatever capacity her consultant role demands (glad I'm not in her shoes). Who could hope to function in their role under the constant ire of social media junkies users participants? Ridiculous.

All that aside, I'm sure season 2 will be fine, in part thanks to her work.

Wonder how many posters from here were in Sarah's DMs ?

Actually, considering the varied ways the power works, I think it's entirely possible a city could remain intact. In fact, we see one that does....picked up and moved to the top of a mountain, but still intact, right down to its docks.  The Power doesn't have to be earthquakes only.  A weave that just kills every living thing in the city, including the channeler is completely likely to leave a city intact, and we know those weaves exist.

Of course it's rationalizing. It's much more rational to say "There could be a rational reason for this thing we see and here's a possible explanation," than it is to say, "There 100% is definitely no rational explanation for what we see and my understanding of what happened in the books absolutely proves that and there's no way I could be wrong or not seeing any possible explanation."

    And it's more fun.

It was definitely a great visual - had me reacting like that Leo DiCaprio meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ?

Keep rationalizing.  You may be able to convince yourself that it makes sense...

To be fair, if tapestries can survive in the books, you'd expect some structures to survive. However, a whole city remaining relatively intact as depicted in episode 8 is very unlikely given the destruction caused by the male Aes Sedai.

"Sanderson will write more WoT books as Harriet has become too old to protect her husbands work and will give the power over to Brandon who thought ep 6 was the best ep of the season."

The part you quoted is the reason I commented. I usually just ignore the many trolls on this site. Also his line about anyone who still watches the show is just a shill for Amazon. But yeah, we knew what he was saying.

People explaining why they didn’t like the show is 100% valid discourse. The quoted text is not this. Nor is it, or me responding to it, on topic so I’ll leave it there.

Well, I started this before the Finale...so now my S2 prediction is...

Show gets cancelled part way through - I shed tears & pray that Disney decides to buy the rights to WoT and make it right.

That was the worst Finale I've watched in my life... Bad WoT. Bad Tv.

At least it's Christmas and I can watch Hawkeye.

My least favourite episode but it comes nowhere near the disappointment and shithousery that was the GoT S8 finale.

  11. On my rewatch, knowing that Rand would not have an obvious bad ass moment, I enjoyed this episode much more.

Pacing a big improvement. Loved the AoL scene - but agree with @Dead Warder that mention of LTT as the Dragon Reborn had me clenching my fist.

Ishy was great - and I’m pretty sure he stilled Moiraine. It almost looks like he extracted her power into himself. This is likely setting up Nyneave healing the unhealable.

Hunting Fain and the Horn should set up an exciting second season.

While a am still down on a lot of this episode, overall I’ve enjoyed the series and am preparing myself for the longing for the next season.

Fal Dara looks nice, the White Tower just seemed really empty.  All the time there and it never really seemed all that impressive.

You’re 100% right about the WT. Can’t really put my finger on exactly what was wrong. I liked the smaller sets like the warders rooms. When the camera pans up in the Hall room I think that is where it doesn’t look great imo

  13. This was my favourite episode so far - just ahead of episode 4.

Like others, on first watch I was put off by what I thought was a "triangle" with Eg, Rand and Perrin, but on re-watch it definitely seemed like Nyn making a mountain out of a mole hill. Eg seemed to put it to bed later on so doubt we'll be seeing anymore of it.

The stand out for me was the Fal Dara set - looked amazing. Production design has been a real positive for me the whole season.

Honestly I really don't want them to write Gawyn out of the show. He was immensely frutrating but he was meant to be. He's a very real character, someone who couldn't set their pride aside and paid the price for it.

Good point. Like many, Gawyn was my most hated character in the series. He may take on the role of that tv character you love to hate?

Someone said the Books are from Rands POV, that is just silly, there are different character arcs throughout the book series. I personally love the Perrin and Mat characters and their side stories. The first season could have easily stayed closer to the books and opened up each character as they were introduced. To add non canon characters and cut major plot points just seems like Rafe wanted to do his own story not the WoT story.

I think you'll find that Books 1 and 2, especially 1 are told mainly from Rands POV
