  1. * looks twice at Ireond's hair, stach, and goat *

    * tries hard to remember if he has ever been to Tallahasee Fla *

    NOPE.

    * can't remember ever going there *

    * the resemblence to GrandpaG's son must be a conincidence *

    Sure is a lot a stuff underlined in red today.

    Must be that time of year.

    On a happier note...

    I have maybe six or seven pages (maybe more?) of the intro to my novel roughed in.

    In a few years I might have all 800 to 1000 pages done and ready for TOR books to publish.

    Then all of you will be able to say that you knew me when I was just a spamming RP guy in Fiddles.

    First Fool, that is.

  2. Only for 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or so more years depending upon what the government does with Social Security and Medicare.

    I'm a factory rat so I don't have a planned retirement portfolio like all of you professional types have.

    I'll save what cash I can so the government and the old folk's home won't know how much I have.

    Some retirement from the government (my former employer stole the rest of what used to be our retirement money).

    Some income from my Naval Reserve retirement.

    Social Security.

    Whatever wifey brings in (which is not much when you spend 20+ years as a lunch lady).

    Then I can sit back, eat, sleep, go to the doctor, write, play guitar, play Age of Empires III, and wait for my turn to die.

    I'm sure wifey will try to find some sort of project to pry me out of my recliner that just has to be done right this minute but we'll see who has the stronger will when it comes to that..."LEAVE ME ALONE!!!  I'M BUSY TAKING A NAP!!!"  Oh, well.  It might work and it might not.

    If I'd just write the stupid novel and trade it for money I could get to that nap a little sooner.  But, then there's the sequel.

    * ponders *

    NNAAAaahhhh.

    I'll just stay a meat robot for now.

    Hello.

    Just online playing "who can withstand punishment the longest" with the unemployment office because I was naughty and got laid off for a week.  I fooled them and used wifey's phone and laptop with the faster speed than this dial-up dinosaur when I opened the new file.  This old girl worked just fine for claiming my week off in the middle of summer with a little less than normal take home pay.

    * shrugs *

    You get what you pay for.

    * shrugs *

    The other day I stumbled onto a printout of some of the stuff that I used to write on a daily basis as "GrandpaG" over in the RP area.  It touched me somehow.  For a while I missed those days.  But, then was then and now is now.  I don't use my brain for anything unusual these days.  Work.  Sleep.  Eat.  Work.  Sleep.  Eat.  Go to the doctor.  Work.  Eat.  Sleep.  If I ever retire it will mess everything up.  Sleep.  Eat.  Go to the doctor.  Sleep.  Eat.  Go to the doctor.

    * sees a pattern forming *

    Maybe if I didn't eat or sleep I wouldn't have to go to the doctor!!!

    * ponders *

    That might not last too long.

    * shakes his head "NO" *

    I have a several hundred page novel in my brain that people tell me could make me very wealthy.  For some reason, I have no desire to write it and get rich.  What's wrong with THAT picture!!!  I used to LOVE writing here at DM but the thought of doing it for money just sours my mood.  I guess I never claimed to be normal.  It really is a good story.  I should write it.  Eat.  Sleep.  Work.  Write.  Eat.  Sleep.  Work.  Write.  NNnnaaahhhh.  Maybe after I retire in a few years I'll eat, sleep and write.  And maybe play guitar now and then.  I might even sing.  Wanna hear it?  No?  I'm not surprised.

    Better go stir the chili and get ready for work.

    Gramps

    Not dead yet.

    On vacation.

    Getting cost/timing for Shedd aquarium in Chicago.

    Not free.

    Can't afford the gas let alone a motel room, meals, admission, etc.

    Might do it anyway.

    Don't know yet.

    Wifey got a phone for Mother's Day which somehow magically gets me to dragonmount without going through dial up.  My son and the grandkids all understand it perfectly.  I am still satisfied with ignorance.

    I'm giving her laptop a test drive...seems to work OK.

    It's not free, but she can use her money to pay for it so I don't mind.

    :dry:

    I keep bumping the laptop mouse thingy and my cursor jumps off to who knows where.  Oh, well.  Spam is spam, right!

    I'm still alive so far.  Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms!

  6. I have tomorrow off work for my birthday with pay so I took tonight off to make it a four day weekend.

    Wifey had me looking up stuff but I'm done with those chores so here I be!!!

    Hello to all !!!

    * considers a quick performance *

    NAH.

    Think I'll go see if the Forums have any life left in them.

    Bye for now.

  7. As usual, I haven't a clue what the people above were talking about but I still love and miss them.

    Might be selling some jamming gear and had to check Guitar Center prices.

    Might be online again one of these days to try to get into the Obamacare system for wifey because the tightwad bastards at work don't want her on my insurance which has been saving us a LOT of money by not having to buy her own coverage.  "Life sucks and then you die".  I should have ran for president then I could have fixed the whole messed up system.

    * ponders *

    * remembers *

    NEVER MIND!!!

    Love,

    Gramps

  8. No.

    I'm not dead yet.

    I just never get online.

    I had to try to make wifey a map using dial-up...GGRRRRRRR!!!

    Oh, well.

    I guess you get what you pay for and my dial-up is free.

    Hi.

    Bye for another few (undetermined number) months.

  9.

    I thought I already responded to this last year but it must not have taken... something naughty, as I remember... maybe it was an omen that I should not submit naughty replies!

    Well, I finished AMoL.  I know.  Nobody really cares what my opinion of it was any more than I really care what anybody else thought about it.  But, this is Gwampy we're dealing with.

    In all fairness to Brandon Sanderson, the book was not what RJ would have given us.  As should be expected.  I can't imagine trying to write a book based on the notes of a man who is dead.  "Uhm... what did you mean here?".  Silence.  Brandon's style is different from what we got used to before RJ died.  The book was OK but not as good as I would have expected from RJ.  I think I completely beat THAT horse to death, didn't I?

    I liked the story for the most part.  It wasn't hard to follow and I don't feel that I need to reread it for clarification.  The Last Battle was long... as it should be.  I didn't feel the loss of the main characters who were killed off... they were there one moment and gone the next.  I almost put some spoilers in just now... thank god for the backspace key.  I almost felt how sickening it must have been to be involved in all that carnage.  Almost.

    I could have used a little more RJ fluff at the end.  It left me feeling... incomplete.  "Here.  Read all of these books.  The end.".  I don't know WHAT i was expecting but I didn't get it.  I probably shouldn't be poisoning anyone's point of view who might not have read the book yet.  Sorry if I did.  You very well might disagree with my viewpoint so there would be no harm done.

    They left out the part where the Tinkers and Aiel get together in the glass columns and become Jenn Aiel.  Maybe that will be in the books that follow AMoL that they haven't announced yet (encore after the final curtain).

    I came to DM several years ago when I first got started with the series.  It has been a long enjoyable ride.  It's time to move on.  Just like many of the other chapters in my life that have come to a close, it's time for me to say goodbye to DM.  I appreciate the friendship that many of you have shown to me over the years.  Since I don't participate in any other social activity this has been a good escape for me.  I sometimes miss the daily RP entries in the Tinker thread.  I've enjoyed putting on performances in the First Fool thread.  When I first joined DM I enjoyed the General Discussion forum.  All good things must pass.  I will probably pop in now and again but I don't plan to spam regularly.

    Thank you all.

    Love,

  12. If I ever lose my job I'm moving to Palm Springs to open an escort service for senior women.  I'll get rich just from the legitimate side of the business not counting the "gratuities".

  14. There are numerous cures for hiccups, most of which are ineffective.  Last week I tried to sign in but hit a brick wall.  Some kind of browser test.  It was there again today but I waited it out and eventually got in.  Duh.  How else would I be posting?  Anyway, I didn't die in the great 12-21-12 extermination so I must be one of the "survivors" chosen by the creator to re-inhabit the planet.  Seems like he would have selected a younger man who was more... uuhhmmm... reproductively active.  But, ours is not to question.  Be as the leaf and fall where the wind directs you at the time the creator dictates.  There must be other survivors, too, or the internet wouldn't be working.  Somebody at work said the Mayans forgot to account for Leap Year.  I'm glad that I didn't max out all of my credit.

    Happy Holidays to all !!!

  15. I tried to use an old bookmark for my evil smiley and lost the entire post so I have to start over from scratch... that will teach me !!!

    I'm off work until 1-2-13...not all paid, but off work is off work !!!

    * celebrates being off work by splashing purple grape juice on reyler's pretty red Christmas dress *

    Somebody grabbed my post right in the middle of typing it then it came back all on one line.

    Must be the Creator.

    Or a DM gremlin.

    Edit seems to be working OK.
