  1. But what even is Perrin's motivation before he meets Faile? He's kinda just (a good guy) ping ponged around. I think his wife subplot adds depth to his character. ...It's not necessarily a comfortable topic. I doubt anyone wants to imagine themselves in his position. But it is interesting. They aren't getting rid of it either, so it'll be cool to see how his character develops with this as a foundation. Oh, and to @SinisterDeath point, completely unrelated, but you should check out RIchard Linklater's work, if you're curious, for examples of a film maker embracing the reality of aging actors.
  2. Fo' real though. So glad we can put the kibosh on that one.
  3. Favorite moment: Rand's spirit/fire knife and how it wavers as he's trying not to cut Moiraine's soul. (No biggie.) Least Favorite Moment: All of Siuan's motivation to do what she did. Not how I thought the oath would be used, nor that it would be used so soon in the series.
  4. YESSSSS! This clip has me so pumped for tomorrow. Dońal Finn's Matt is so subtle you almost forget he's going to do anything, but roguish and hard hitting in scene's like this. Surprisingly twisted. I think he has the potential to take the character quite far.
  5. I don't particularly like the depiction of The Ways in the show. It didn't quite work for me last season, and the re-use of the set pieces in season 2 didn't help. But in defense of lack of details in Liandrine's novice nabbing, it's fun to leave some things to mystery. In fact, I would have almost preferred if they skipped the scene in The Ways entirely.
  6. I think if we look at the power levels shown in the show so far, it makes sense to have this kind of (super saiyaman) visualization around raw POWERFUL uses of the one power. It comes across as a little silly, from a meta perspective, but I think in the context of the greater show (optimistically 8 seasons) they are slowly building a visual language for qualities of channeling. It'll be interesting to see how they continue from here. The irony is that Dragon Ball Z (super, etc.) have fallen into a trap of infinite ceilings of power and how can they visualize that. Spoiler: I would hope WoT wouldn't fall into the same trap,. Based on what we've seen so far, in terms of variety, (compare the weavings of the Forsaken to those of the Aes Sedai, Nynaeve, or Rand) I don't think it will.
  7. There's something about the ginormous number of plot threads in this episode (boosted by previous episodes) that make me want to keep re-watching it for details. On a second re-watch I really appreciated the Moiraine/Anvere scene. The opening to it solidifies Anvere's mixture of envy/stubbornness/independence/weariness in a really efficient way for such a short scene.
  8. This is why I believe Lanfear wouldn't go chasing after them. She likes to play a more subtle game as long as she thinks she's in control/has an advantage.
  9. Very possibly, but I hope not. I really like the timey-wimey moments in the books when Balefire is used.
  10. Yikes on both accounts... but thanks for those references. I completely missed the Saa moment.
  11. WooHoo! Notes Lots of great moments to let the acting shine through in this episode All those warders just being casually ripped xD Min needed motivation in her arc, so I like what they are doing here Moiraines dress lol. She obviously has fun with it, and it’s fun to watch. Very ridiculous. Reminds me of the blueberry girl in Willy Wonka (original) The way Logaine instantly becomes assistive once Moiraine offers the knife Ihvan and Lan was a really good scene Alviarin/Liandrin scene has a weird vibe. I didn’t really like it. Maybe it’s that neither knows the other is Black? I really like Elias’ scenes, his personality is very direct, but I’m worried the Perrin/wolf stuff might be a bit too CW I think we’re seeing a lot of Rand/Moiraine from Shadow Rising in this and I like it In the scene with Egwene, I appreciate how Nynaeve comes across as very wise but can still be blind-sided by other peoples equal dedication “My daughter” 😞 Liandrins monologue after is very strong too There were some weird cuts in this episode. At first I thought it was only used to show Ishamael and Lanfears compulsion(those were good uses, I especially liked the Min/Ishamael scene), but take a look at the Ihvan/Lan scene from “Of course not.” To “An Aes Sedai” and note the jumpy cuts. There’s one with Rand/Lanfear earlier in the episode when the shot rotates around the actors too quickly. It seems to break the cinematography rule about how many degrees to rotate in a shot to not disorient the audience. Lots of little tiny things weaved into the writing in this episode I’m sure will be referenced down the road. Rands scene after killing the Fade is heartbreaking. So much emotion in his face. Also, why are they sleeping on the ground outside of the cabin? Weird Lanfear stuff? My initial reaction to zombie lanfear was negative, but I think it’ll add to her scariness being able to regenerate like that…hopefully
  12. Everyone has their biases. And you can personally reject when a designer's biases seem to jeopardize the quality of a production. But terms like "beta <insert-gender-here>" are not great descriptors. It's counter to ideas of gender equality and implies a superior and inferior form of being.
  13. Same number of episodes (8) according to IMDB. Don’t scare me like that! I need all the WOT I can get.
  14. The episodes are definitely longer. I hope that trend continues for the whole season.
  15. Good episode, but I'd rank it lowest of the 3. It definitely sets up the next two episodes nicely though. I really enjoyed the fight scene at the end.
  16. ooooooooooo man. Best episode of the 3, I think. That moment when Nynaeve was leaving the White Tower, I was like, "Wait a minute. This is so crazy. Where could she possibly be headed?? ... ... ... What if she's still inside the arches!?" and then "The way back will come but once..." The timing was SO. GOOD.
  17. Great to see a few more snippets from season 2. The amateur quality of the narrator speaking over the video hurts the overall presentation though, imo.
  18. 9/1 at 1AM, I believe. 8/31 at 7PM for us central timers.
