  1. So it had all happened, Loraine was heading to Caemlyn for Tower business, whether official or her own he did not know, and then further South to investigate some happenings along the Andoran and Amadacian border. The letters had been draw up and they were preparing to leave the morrow after next. In addition, per a conversation Thera and he had had, she was bringing along a couple of trainees for their finishing off. All were nearing the end of the training and about to be christened as Tower Guard and she thought it wise that they get some practical experience. Kyn agreed and so had Lor, so their party had swelled a little. Something unusual for Kyn and Lor, as they usually travelled very alone. Once it had been settled who was indeed going Kyn had sent letters to each, assigning tasks to each to have completed by the time they departed. To Perivar he had given the tasks of arranging their tentage, as the entire trip would not be spent in Inns. He had requested One for himself and Loraine, one for Thera and one for the Trainees to share. There were no specifics given other than the need for them. In Jasine's letter it had requested for him to requisition supplies for five days travel. In the letter to Arath he had requested that horses be arranged from the stables, one for each of the trainees, a pair of pack animals and that the Head Groom have Thera's, Loraine's and his own horse ready to be ridden afar on the the appointed morning. Having had all those dispatched by a grinning Accepted who was looking forward to a trip to the Yard, he even neglected to remind her to return straight away.

Kyn then sat back and looked over his own list of things to take, his and Loraine's personal items, the things they never went anywhere without. He already packed most of it and would finish tomorrow, that he was rechecking already marked his nerves as already short. He disliked the idea of taking Loraine into Amadacia, but he knew she would insist upon it, if only to investigate the reports of banditry. Banditry was not what either he nor she thought was actually going on, they were both certain that it was Whitecloaks or those associated with them making life hard on the people living across the border.

He heard the door open behind him and knew it was Loraine returning, he had felt her creeping closed for several moments and he turned to look upon her again, a smile on his face. "You're still as pretty as the day I took that sword out of your hands..."

  2. Well then, here's what I want to do... I want to pre-set the RP. So I want alls youse (trainees) to do some scurrying getting things ready to go, be it gathering supplies, checking tentage and clothes, mending gear... whatever, do something to get us going... one big post or a couple medium sized ones to get you to where you are gathered in front of the Tower and ready to go... needs to be done by Sunday evening. If Talavin is back on Sunday or Monday then he can join in and be caught up relatively quickly. If he doesn't we're still doing something.

Also, I want you to all assume you are nearing the completion of your Training, i.e. WS 6 or 7. I wouldn't take the unskilled on this little jaunt.

Actually, I will assign tasks, post in a minute or two...

  3. Indeed it is... and it should be the title of the IC thread as well...

My plan is to take a little trip to Amador, settle some family business and in the interim complete a req for myself. Loraine is coming along for some sort of Tower business down that direction... maybe even in Amador... Thera is coming, welll, because she is... and the rest of you becuase she says you are... which, in the end, will end up with everyone getting a Req (and maybe 2 if we can squeeze them in) done.

So, I plan on starting this off next week. <EDIT> Nevermind, this is gonna be the Leadership Req for me, so Wake Up Call will be a couple of other threads....</EDIT>

  4. Kyn was sitting now, relaxed and leaned against the back of the chair. "I can handle that, yes. There is a bond that is forged with the One Power. It is a weave that connects she and I and allows us a certain level of link. I can tell where she is, not specifically, but in a general direction sense. She could be a mile or a hundred miles away and I could lift my finger and point right at her without thinking about it. Every Warder I have ever spoken with about the bond has this ability. I can also judge her emotions, which is no small benefit let me tell you. The closer I am the more definite picture I have of her well being. From here to the tower I could tell you that she is happy, sad, stressed, etc. From hundred miles or so I could tell you she is sick, well or under high stress. From more than that I can tell if she is hurt or not, dying or not. Range plays a factor in it. There is no mental telepathy, she cannot talk to me in my head because of the bond, nor I hers. She can draw on my strength and fortitude for herself if needs be, and she can give to me of her own if she decides to. However, I cannot just take from her."

  5. Smiling only counts if it is at a girl... the nice thing is, on a field trip we can do several different Reqs at once all in the same thread, there's plenty of opportunity for everything. It is all in how you describe what you are doing, so everyone could get what they were after while all getting some RP time in with multiple PC's.

  6. Thera's welcome to come along as well, I am looking at something to fulfill my 'Leadership' and 'Wake Up Call' reqs. as I need those to finish off my 'Guardian' levels. Well, along with the 'Blademaster', but it needs to be last.

  7. Kyn smiled at Thera and nodded, taking his seat. "The Mistrss is of course correct, before I paused I was going to say. That is what a Aes Sedai would tell you, one who has never been bonded and probably will not like the one she does take. A bond on your end is the lesser of partners to be sure. You are sworn to protect an Aes Sedai and to serve an Aes Sedai. In that order, you do what you have to do to make sure that your bonded is alive." He emphasized that last word to make sure they didn't mistake it with 'safe'. Many Aes Sedai would bristle at being made safe and would also be rendered impotent to do what they must if they were made safe. "After that you do what she wants. You are not a slave, you have your free will and you must exercise your good judgement, that is one of the reasons an Aes Sedai would have taken you, for your judgement."

He glanced at Loraine, waiting for a reponse from Thera's posed question,   “Loraine Sedai, do you have anything you would like to add?”

  8. Well, I'll help if you want it...

For evaluation, that one is simple. It is merely a evaluation of your skills. It would probably involve a trip outside the Tower.

For Conflict, well, there's lots of ways to solve conflict. We'd have to find someone else to participate. This would not be my first choice.

For Challenge, well Kyn is always up for a challenge, be it drinking, fighting, runnning, riding... pick something Perivar would be good at and we could see where it would go.

For Responsibility, I would again suggest a trip outside Tar Valon, perhaps you are accompanying Lor and I on a trip where you have been tasked by somneone else to deliver a message or package to someone near where we are travelling.

For Survival it would definitely mean a trip outside the tower. I've been toying with a trip to Amador and this would provide you with the opportunity to test your skills in combat while Kyn and Lor take care of some family business of Kyn's. It would likely involve at least one member of the White Ccoaks as well.

If any of that floats your boat, or you have suggestions of your own I'm game.

  9. Kyn lead them both down through the Tower and out across the yard to the room he had set aside, he opened the door and gave a slight bow as he gestured Loraine in through the door. He noted that Thera was sitting at the head of the table and she looked as if she could spit nails today. He also noted Jasine, Perivar, Melenis and Arath all in attendance. He followed Loraine in and did a double take as he saw that someone had procured food and drink, he then he paused behind Thera and leaned down. "Thank you for procuring refreshments." He then pulled Loraine's chair out for her and stood for a moment. "So, you're all here cause you want to know what it is like to be bonded. The very first thing you need to know is that it is different for everyone because how the bond feels depends on the mood of the people involved and their temperaments as well. The first rule is, ask questions, there are no stupid ones... clear?" He paused for assent from the trainees before continuing. "Good, now the first thing you need to know is that in a bond the Aes Sedai is in charge, no matter your feelings, desires or whatever else is going on. What she needs is what gets done...

  10. He looked at her. "Well, in the beginning dear you couldn't cook... so not eating wasn't much of a problem. But, for the last few years it has been farming... there is a reason you don't see many fat farmers." He finished off the bit of breakfast he was holding and turned around to look at her. He noticed the pendant and smirked, "Planning on behuiling the poor trainees this morning?" He crossed the short space to her and held out his hand to her. "Come on love, it wouldn't be good to be late..." Pulling her to her feet before giving her a hug and mostly chaste kiss, "... or at least not to have a very good reason." He grinned and winked at her and then turned to open the door leading out of her private quarters. At the same time he put on his public, impassive face he wore when out in the world.

  11. Kynwric listened to Melenis' story and nodded at the proper junctures, when she was done he took a moment to soak in what she had said, arranging it in his head and actually forming thoughts before he spoke this time. "Girl, actions not your own have no reflection upon you. Not in my eyes, and I am sure I can speak for Loraine as well. We've seen far too many innocent people hurt for being accused Dark Friends to go looking for them where there are none." He paused and took a short sip from his cup. "No matter what your father may have done, no matter how heinous his crimes, they are not yours, nor your Grandfathers. If you wish to atone for his sins, well that is not your place, he is reaping his reward for the rest of eternity. If you wish to serve the Light and Honor your grandfather, well that is your right and I would encourage it. But keep in mind that what we are training you for here is not to be an avenger, not to be the sharp sword of justice, it is to be the guardian of Servants of the Light." He paused and smiled, "Alas, now I am preaching... but what I am trying to say, in short, is that so long as you serve the Light I will be happy to know you."

  12. OOC: This is the bond class I was speaking of in the OOC. Please post your arrival.

    IC:

The room set aside is really just a few chairs around a couple of tables pushed together, but it would do. It wasn't out in the sun and it wasn't where everything being said or asked would be overheard. Kyn didn't want the trainees to be afraid of asking whatever they needed to ask and being out amongst the yard could do that. He then left the room before anyone could arrive.

He arrived back at Loraine's Quarters, they still had half an hour before the class was supposed to begin. He pushed the door open and slipped inside. He called out "Is there any breakfast left?" Then he noticed the tray and walked over towards it, pulling the cloth back to reveal the remainder of breakfast.

  13. "Good job, you've got a good grasp on what to do and when. Keep practicing these as much as you can and seek out spars with other trainees to help ingrain them in your muscle memory. When you are truly proficient you won't even think about what to do next, it will just happen. Also, I would suggest you ask someone else to teach you your next set of forms, familiarity is good, but in fighting a breadth of experience is better. No two people fight the same." Kyn gave a short, quick bow of his head and dismissed Perivar.

OOC: All done, just post it in your Progress.
