Fan Art Friday: "Screw you all, I love Wheel of Time" (Part 1 of 2)

peregrine

A while back, my friend Sam pointed me to the Facebook page "Screw you all, I love Wheel of Time." Besides being another great place to get your daily Wheel of Time fix (if Dragonmount just isn't enough for you), it also has a diverse and impressive collection of art I haven't seen anywhere else.* Here are some of my favorite fan works from the page. Tune in next week for more!

*Unfortunately, a lot of the art posted to the Facebook page is uncredited. I can't tell you how common it is to see uncredited fan art, or how disappointing. We fan artists put a lot of heart into our art, and we love to share it with you. If you value our work, please do us the honor of giving us credit for it!

In case you don't know, this is the etiquette for sharing art: Ask permission before reposting, if possible. You should also inform the artist that you have reposted their work and provide them a link to the page (again, if possible). At the very least, provide the artist's name when you repost and include a link to their gallery page, if they have one.

Absolutely LOVE Liandrin in that picture!! I have always had a a hard time picturing her, mostly because I can't imagine a 'rosebud mouth'. But I now officially have a mental picture of her.

I always look forward to Fan Art Friday. I may be in the minority here, but I like to have an idea of what to imagine while I'm reading. For example, I have read all the Star Wars books, and I already have an accurate picture in my head for most of the main characters. Sometimes its hard for me to come up with those images on my own.

TOTALLY agree with MatrimC about loving Fan Art Friday. If I had an artistic bone in my body, I'd be making WoT art all the time.

Same here MatrimC. Fan Art Friday has helped me put a face to my favourite WoT characters, so please keep up the good work Peregrine!

I love the drawing of Rand above. He looks so alive.

I've already seen that picture of Liandrin many years before, it's lovely. But what I absolutely love is the covers, they are beautiful! I want the books with them!

I agree that it's important to be able to imagine your favorite characters, the good fan art helps a lot. Thanks, peregrine! :)

Hello every one, this is Tim Cottrell.

Everywhere my covers get picked up by the awesome WoT fan community, people seem to love them, and I love that. Unfortunately I don't think I can make them available to buy. I did that first three as part of my degree, the rest for fun and completeism, and don't think I have the right to sell WoT related stuff.

Again, thank you all for the kind words.

Wolfbrother out!

I love these other pieces of art, and your covers are amazing Tim Cottrell! Funny, but I've read TSR a few more times since I made that image of Cold Rocks, and the image looks nothing like my mental image of the place now, at all. But it was fun to make, and I learned a lot from that scene. Glad it's still floating around, too!

Thanks for sharing the etiquette tips at the end - always good to keep in mind. And it's the right thing to do.
