Wonderful WoT Blog

There's a thread on this forum discussing a reader's first time experience with the series and it reminded me of a blog I happened upon some little time ago while scouring the internet for WoT related material.

I'm honestly hopelessly in love with it, as the writing and analysis are top-notch quality and sprinkled with humor throughout. Lia (the author of the blog) manages to convey her excitement and pleasure of the reading experience in a manner that mirrored my own excitement so many years ago when I first began my journey reading WoT.

I think some of the best parts are when she covers the chapters "The Road to the Spear," "The Dedicated," and of course "Dumai's Wells."

So give it a shot!

I've read the blog now through the first 2 books. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'll say that she's a lot more perceptive than I was when I was reading these the first time (though it was 1994 and I was only 15 at the time) and some of her guesses are very right (some are way off too).

To put it clearly, she (?) is a liar. She's re-reading the series, and later even admit that she is not live-blogging.

Neither of these matter to me. Whether it's a blog or a live blog it's fun to go through it again as a bit of a cliffs notes. Long enough to cover all the major points but short enough that I'm not re-reading the books (again).

Lia is not a liar, please do not call her that just because she is more observant than you. She reads the series for the first time, she just knows that Wheel of Time is a thing and every detail can matter, if you read it now for the first time you would know better too. Her blog is fascinating and she really is correct in many many things. She has a very good perspective and is a good character reader.

I'm glad you enjoy the blog.  She is very perceptive and it's difficult for me to keep a smile off of my face when I get the chance to read it.  Her comments regarding Rand and his problems with garden walls is pretty funny.

Even if that is the case, it doesn't detract one iota from my enjoyment of reading through her experiences.  Though I am curious, where did she state that she is currently rereading the series?  At the beginning of the blog, she said that she had never read the series before and I take her at her word.  I will admit that I'm impressed at her ability to analyze the text and reach conclusions that are correct more often than not.  For myself, I realize that there's always going to be someone out there who has more ability than I do to divine information and construct theories, and so I leave it at that.

Regardless, I think the blog is just wonderful :D  But to each their own.

This is the first time I have logged into this site in quite awhile.

I was recently feeling sad about no more WoT in my future and was considering a re-read and while thinking about it decided to stop by Dragonmount to see if it were still alive and people posting. That is when I came across this.

I have spent the past week reading her Liveblog and I have had a blast. I enjoyed it as much as I would have enjoyed a re-read if not more.

This girl is brilliant. Some of the insights she provides are fantastic. I have not only read the series but basically would re-read before each new book release, so I have read this series A LOT and still saw some of her thoughts about scenes enlightening.

I am very excited about her getting around to finishing and I will continue to read her blogs as she does them.

Very nice job Lia. Thanks for the blast of entertainment.

Just to let you all know, she has now posted through the end of Knife of Dreams.

I am anxious to see her take up the Brandon Sanderson books now and see how she reacts to the change.

I love Sanderson, but Robert Jordan was so incredibly good at so many different things and reading this liveblog has really reminded me of just how great he was.

I'm interested as well. I'm only up to TSR in her blog (I only let myself read it during down time at work). I'm one of the people that liked the last three Sanderson books... my only issue with them was that everyone was just a bit too optimistic/chummy in A Memory of Light considering TG had started and was also not going too well.
