I feel like a bloody fool for not realizing Verin was Black Ajah. She obviously lies when she tells Perrin, in The Great Hunt, that she was sent by Moraine when they meet up. Moraine later tells Rand that she didn't send Verin. I can't believe i missed it. I wonder what else i missed. I love the series because it seems like you always find things you missed no matter how many times you read the series.

This was talked about in multiple places; a number of them being in this forum.

Actually, it a lie is not obvious.

Like I told in other threads, both characters could be giving her own interpretation.

I don't think the clues were really there that Verin was Black Ajah.  The clues were there that she wasn't bound by the Three Oaths.  Just because she could lie and used compulsion doesn't immediately make me leap to Black Ajah.  Shady yes, BA no.

Just because she could lie

explicit lies go against the 3 Oaths.  And the Black Ajah are the only ones bound to the Oath Rod that could tell explicit lies.

For the others to lie, they would need to believe the statement as true; which would make the lie non-explicit.

Yes, I know that.

Just because an AS could explicitly lie doesn't automatically make them Black Ajah.  It just means that she is no longer (or never was) bound to the Oath Rod.

Yet Verin was bound to the Oath Rod since she had the ageless face.

thus there are only 2 possibilities for the statement (and any statement she says)::

-it being an explicit lie; making Verin Black Ajah

-it being a statement of belief; making Verin of any Ajah

Exactly  Moriane might not of come out and said go find Rand, could of simply of been a statement such as "would be nice if the boys had an Aes Sedai looking after them.  Verin could of interpreted it as Moraine sending her.  One of the big loopholes with the 3 oaths.  So both could of been telling the truth Verin saying Moriane sent her and Moraine saying she never sent Verin.  All about how they interpret things.  Like Moraine going by a fake name.  She could say I have been called, you may call me blah blah blah.  But she could never say my name is blah blah since that would be a lie.  Even Verin using compulsion isn't necessarily evil, depends on commands she gave and how she can justify to herself what she did.

I never suspected her about either of those things you mentioned.  What made me suspect Verin could be BA was her getting ready to poison Casudane.
