That was made during that three thread game. A less active mafia largely corresponds to a less active game. I have no idea if this holds true elsewhere but it seemed to on a skim of the last couple of pages. Can anyone help cerify the trend?

of course it does, why would it be otherwise?

 

mafia drives the game, nudges and pokes and weaves the narrative and stuff, no?

 

barring a very loud towns person .... who either gets lynched or bullies down the rest of the town... or drowns themselves out... yeah, without that little push, ppl gonna sit quiet.

 

I don't know nothin bout no mafias tho. I just watch.

It probably is correlated.  That being said, there's no evidence to indicate a causal link in one particular direction.  If there were a causal link, I think it would actually go the other way.  Mafia try to blend in as best they can, so if the population of the game is largely inactive, they aren't going to draw attention to themselves by being active.

 

If you have a game with active players who discourage lurking with votes and/or lynches, you'll find that the mafia lurk less.
