"Twice and twice the crow has flown

Twice for cry and twice for mirth

Twice and thrice the last wind blow

Twice for life and thrice for birth..."

- Al'shanti Dae'sa, Foretellings and Aes Sedai Secrets

"Keeps walking, Jae'sa. The woods ahead are but camouflage for their most keenly Farm." A chuckle and a brush upon foliage that seemed haphazard but nonetheless did little to disguise the secret codes that lay carelessly strewn upon the grounds. Sharp eyes upon a cool, emotionless face that stared out of a black cowl.

"Even then, Milord, there is no harm in a little care." mumbled the other man. Grizzled and darkened in many a sunburnt day, he seemed as far a character from the other man as possible. Yet, he seemed just as united to the ground, both men obviously masters at the woodland skills. "A little care goes a long way."

"As you say, Jae'sa." A ghost of a smile, and a slight shake of his sleeve to reveal a pair of fair hands. Nobility. This was a man who was no stranger to the quill and parchment.

"I do."

Silence decended upon the two of them as they moved their horses through the underwood. For truly were they both silent. The grizzled man shifted uneasily in his saddle, but the one of noble birth stayed as calm as a pool of water. No, ice. Coolness emanated from his body language in drifts of invisible mist. Slowly, even the grizzled man calmed.

"Indeed." Jae'sa muttered.

And suddenly they reached a clearing. A dozen men in dark coats watched them warily as they entered.

"Who comes before the Black Tower?" The leader of them stepped forth intoning, sword pin gleaming in the sun's rays. Almost ritually, yet both visitors could tell that a wrong answer might result in more danger than even both could face.

But there would be none of that today.

"Do you need Healing for your sight then, young Dedicated?" The noble smiled as he lowered his cowl.

"Ashaman Skechid!" The men in black coats gasped almost as one, and saluted fists to chest.

"Indeed. And this is Jae'sa Barthonolia, of House Teobon." Skechid gestured to the other grizzled man, who lowered his head slightly. "He is to be taken to the M'hael for his recruitment. Or possibly whoever it is who is in charge now." Skechid nodded to Jae'sa to follow them while he led his horse onward.

It was time to face his home again.

((OOC: Who wants to lead a returning Ashaman back to the Farm eh? Don't all of you keep silent now.))

ooc: Exuse any spelling mistakes, no Word on this darn labtop.

IC: Noy was walking around the Farm when a Dedicated called him over. He had other things to do, but the bloody man out-ranked Noy, and that was that. Noy made a dozen men, but the Dedicated ignored that. Suddenly, a few men entered the clearing Noy and the other 'guards' were in. Noy entered the Void, and prepaired himself to grasp Saidin. In the Black Tower, you could never tell who would come to you. The Dedicated suddenly asked, "Who comes before the Black Tower?"

One man lowered his cowl and replied, "Do you need Healing for your sight then, young Dedicated?" Appairantly, the Dedicated knew the man as an Asha'man, even though Noy had no idea who the man was. Noy watched as the Asha'man introduced the Soldier-to-be. The Asha'man led his horse away and the Dedicated called to Noy. "Lead this man to M'Hael Haran Dashiva." Noy blinked, he didn't want to have to lead around the new people, but he did so anyways.

Noy turned to Jae'sa "Comeon, I have other stuff to do today." Noy sighed, it wasn't this man's fault that Noy was grumpy. "Sorry, I was dragged into this job, and I really do have other things to do today." They walked over to the Inn, and up to the kitchen door. Noy knocked on the door, and entered. Noy introduced the new man to Dash, and was told to stay with him outside. Burn me, I have other things to do.

Sighing, Noy took a seat with the man. "So, where are you from?"

ooc: Sorry for the little bit of NPCing Dash, but I knew that you are buisy so I didn't want to drag you into this one. :D

OOC: I'm around just enough to ICly welcome back one of our oldbies back to the land of RPing.

IC: Dashiva left the kitchen with a plate of food, leaving a few Dedicated to the cleaning of the kitchen. Walking out the door he turned and walked down a short hall before undoing the Ward protecting his office when he wasn't there.

Stepping inside, he closed the door ignoring the soft gentle creak of the hinge and went behind his desk to pore over the reports on training, discipline reports and other paperwork that Asha'man and others filled out for him.

It didn't take long for a knock to pull his attention and called, "enter." He looked at Noy then at another man he didn't quite recignize although he thought the man was familiar.

Nodding at the introductions, he waved his hand. "Wait outside Soldier, it won't take long to test this man," he ordered and rose from behind his desk drawing on saidin to perform the test.

OOC: Not sure whether he's supposed to or not Skechy but Dash takes care of all new Recruit's.

  • 2 weeks later...

Evening settled down upon the corridors as training-weary men trudged slowly back to their rooms, with hardly much acknowledgment for their fellow mates. The Black Tower trained its members hard, and Saidin broke spirits and wore men down to their bones.

Skechid watched the world with wary eyes. Through his window he observed the flows of Saidin woven all over. In his hand he held a age darkened flower carving, too many petals to count. The last ter'angreal retrieved from one of the old stores. It never surprised him the ingenuity of those of the Age of Legends. Dangerous were they, but surely few matched the wonders they created.

He carressed the petals as his eyes continued to watch the Yard below him. His thoughts had been clouded of late. There were far too many coincidences in the world and too many memories interwoven with what could have been. Rumours spread like fire and burnt the soul of men, and yet some fanned it further lest it die and return life to the mundane.

He seized Saidin and suddenly and wove a tiny thread of Saidin into the many flowered petal. The room was filled with a sudden brilliance as the scene of a city filled his walls and suddenly the memories of the Memorytrap unveiled itself befor ehim. A man died. Stabbed in the back. Memorytraps could not lie, and yet Skechid's face darkened at the blatant impossibility of what was revealed.

Jae'sa had better be doing better than I am. The man had arrived as a servant and departed as one of the strongest channelers Skechid had found. If that is his starting potential, we could be in for a shock. Skechid smiled wrily as the light before him vanished and he was once again plunged into darkness. Fools the world see us at. Yet could Saidin be cleansed...

A loud knocking interupted his thoughts. Skechid frowned and pocketed the ter'angreal.

"Enter." He said firmly, but his face was back to ice.

((OOC: Whoever wants to come say hi I guess. Preferably not just to bring me dinner. *grins* Let's get some fun going.))

OOC: I’ll jump in and say hey with a little food on the side

IC: After a day of hard training as is normal in the farm Aldazar was assigned the duty of delivering the meals of some Asha’man to their various sleeping areas last on his list was one Asha’man Skechid.

On arriving at his door he knocked as was proper and waited for the asha’man’s assent to enter the room. When he entered the man he found was blank faced giving no emotions away. Once the tray of food and wine was out of his hands Aldazar made the proper salute fist across his chest and gave his name and rank “Soldier Aldazar†with formalities done he stuck out his right hand “good to meet you"

"Dinner." Skechid said flatly. The man before him swallowed. "I see you've had a long day."

Skechid indicated for him to sit down. "But I also see that you've been around for a while, Soldier. Be at ease, this is no barrack. I just want to know about the Black Tower while I was away. Perhaps you might tell me abit about yourself and when you joined and then mention and major happenings you've seen here along the way." Skechid floated two cups to himself on a flow of Air and cooled the spiced wine on his table. "Have a glass and speak."

He then walked over to the door and spoke briefly to the attendant outside his door.

Sitting back down, he smiled. "Begin?"

((OOC: Why not RP a little eh?))

IC: Taking the proffered glass of wine and a seat Aldazar decided to answer the first question as briefly as possible “Well Asha’man Skechid I can’t tell you much of what goes on here I’ve only been here a short time myself and that times been filled with lessons, chores and all the sleep they will let me have. But from what I can tell this place is pretty quiet, aside from almost constant explosions of course.†stopping for breath and a gulp of wine he went on “As for why I joined you might say the glory of fighting alongside the Dragon Reborn at the Last Battle but mainly I joined so I could do more then stab a few trollocs with a sword. With the One Power I could take hundreds of filthy shadow spawn down instead of a bare handful of trollocs.â€

OOC: such a short reply

"Interesting." Skechid said softly. "No, not really, not that interesting. But I guess nothing much happens these days."

He sipped his cup and took a coin from his drawer and floated it to the Soldier. "I know things can get busy in the Black Tower, but I feel like you could help me anyway. If you ever need me just show that coin to the attendant outside my door and he will let you in." Skechid wondered if this was going to work out after all.

A knocking came at the door and a man entered with a tray of food as Skechid admitted the man. "Dinner, milord." He flourished lowly.

"Yes, thank you." Skechid gestured for the man to lay the food down before Aldazar.

"Right, let's eat then." Skechid smiled as they both began to tuck into their food.

"Interesting." Skechid said softly. "No, not really, not that interesting. But I guess nothing much happens these days."

Taking a sip of his wine the other man then took something from one of his drawers and tossed it to Aldazar it appeared to be a coin but the markings were of no nation this side of the Aryth Ocean "I know things can get busy in the Black Tower, but I feel like you could help me anyway. If you ever need me just show that coin to the attendant outside my door and he will let you in."

hmm I wonder what he wants me to do with this. Aldazar thought to himself. Stuffing the coin in his coat pocket he heard a knocking came at the door and a man entered with a tray of food as Skechid admitted the man. "Dinner, milord." He flourished lowly.

"Yes, thank you." Skechid gestured for the man to lay the food down before Aldazar.

"Right, let's eat then." Skechid smiled as they both began to tuck into their food.

Happily digging into the meal he tried to make conversation “I heard an Asha’man had just arrived back at the tower, and by your question your him, if you don’t mind my asking what did you do here at the tower before you left?

"What did I do?" Skechid whispered with a faraway look. "Where do I start?"

Skechid picked up another coin from his drawer and began to roll it between his fingers. "I was a Master Healer, Head of the Infirmary. There were few wounds in the Black Tower I could not Heal unaided. Together with Dalinarius, we could bring a person back from the brink of death or bring life into this world through birthing." Skechid smiled fondly at the memories. "I kept the Black Tower healthy, and trust me when I say that is not easy. I taught herbal lore and the art of distilling medication."

"So many people in the Black Tower owe me their very lives." Skechid chuckled. He looked back at Aldazar. "What exactly do you want to do here? Being a weapon is very good, but unless you want to spend your whole time exploding things I think you should perhaps consider some other vocation on the side."
