I dont know if anyone has brought this up before, but it just came to me we can play Magic the Gathering in WoT setting!

for example, there are cards like, Aes Sedai, Asha'man, infantry, archer, queen, king, gray man, Gholam, trolloc, Myrddraal, etc. and also we can add hero units like Rand, Mat, etc. there are enough creatures and characters in Wot to make 3 decks of cards!!

so how it plays, well, if you have a card of AS, and I have Gholam, then AS dies. but if you had Mat, then the Gholam dies. the usual cavalry>infanry&archer, but weak against pikes. gray man kills everything except a warder and Perrin can pick up its scent. just a few thoughts, im sure you guys can think of many many more. oh now i really want to play it!

Do we really need/want another collector card game? Eventually, they all turn into the same thing after all. Another way for Wizards of the Coast (aka Hasbro) to get a continous source of money.

Its actually already been made. It was so unpopular though it failed.

Well that's because it was a horrible game. If it had been worth playing, you never know. Of course, it came out in the 90s during that wave of CCGs where everyone had to jump on the bandwagon, so it probably wouldn't have lasted anyway. Almost none did.

Magic the gathering has thousands of different cards... A card game based on books would be much more limited.

Thousands of cards yes. Do to constraints imposed by tournament formats etc, only a significantly reduced subset of those cards ever got played though. The result is that, at least when I was playing the game, the variety of decks people played was rather limited.

A card game that needs counters is ok, A card game that needs dice is ok, A card game that needs a game board is ok, But a game that needs dice, mat, and counters is too much. Thats why it failed.

By the way any one want some old WoT cards. I have a crap ton of em.

The game was not so bad as everyone says. The gameplay ideas were pretty novel, though it had some balance issues. Inquest recently voted it 64 in their all time top 100 list. It was the business manner of Precedence that eventually led to the demise of the company, taking WoT CCG with it. 2nd Edition plus the White Tower expansion were in their late design stages.

Anyway, I'm trying to complete my sets of cards and pick up play somewhat. I still need a few.

If anyone who doesn't use their cards anymore is interested in selling or trading some cards,

I'm interested. Mail me at: kweniston1 -AT- hotmail.com

Thanks,

Kwen.

(Btw, love the fact the books are going to be finished. I still have to read 4 books, so I can stretch them out over 2008/2009.)

Vemynal, here at DM, made some really cool MTG-style Wot cards for fun and posted them on the Aiel Org board.  :)

I saw one of them used as an avatar in an Internet WoT game the other day. Not sure if that was cool or not, but I didn't ask the artist's (Keith Parkinson's) permission for use of my main character's avatar, and some of the other ones I use...heck, I don't even know who the artist *is* :-/

To bad those cards break several copyright laws. ;)

Of course, there is an Illuminator Project going on... That involves a TCG, on a 'world building project' that has been going on for a 'year' or so..

Wow, I hope not.  :(

I know he did some of the SoT covers...

The picture I use is called the Druid's Stone, and I love it; it's just a great picture! :)

EDIT: I just googled him, and yeah, he died in 2005. That's too bad.  :'(

I have several of his pictures that I use as desktop wallpaper in addition to the one I use as an avatar in that game; he was a great fantasy artist.
