Kedyn watched as the last few tables were finished and the cooks were setting out the first rounds of ale. For tonight that training Yard had been converted to a festival of sorts. The shopkeepers had closed early and the the few inns inside the Citadel had been empty of serving maids and innkeepers. People from the local village had even come to join in the festivities. Kedyn had been setting up most of the day, volunteering in a small self punishment for what he had been like for the past couple of weeks.

It had been started to boost morale, it seemed almost tradition after what they had done after Emonds Field, but it gave the soldiers a day off and free drinks and it did wonders for morale. Kedyn though had foresworn drink for the night, he had had enough lately for years. Besides he had had way to much during the last celibrations.

The sun began to set, and in the twilight the music started and the first of the soldiers began to arrive. The din of conversation and laughter began to rise and already there were men asking women, soldier and civilian, to dance in the grass. Kedyn smiled and closed his eyes for a moment to cherish the music and the noise, happy and content for the moment, hoping it would last the night. Lavena may be gone but Kedyn was slowly coming to terms with the loss thanks to his friends, old and new, embracing her memory and begining to move on.

Today was for those that were alive, tonight for those lucky enough to have survived the Band's work in amking the world a better place. A place to toast those fallen and sing a song for their memory. For tommorow was another day, what would come a mystery to all. All man could do was live day to day, and pause every once in a while to remember what lay behind them in the winding path of life.

"Oh we will drink all day

And spend all our gold at night

The only groudn you'll own is your grave

But you'll give it all away just to pave

For your Dance with Jack o the Shadows"

Joining in with Rowul, Carnhain added his rich tenor to his uncle's bass. He had grown to secretly love singing, and actually had begun to sing as he fought as for some reason it helped keep his bloodrage under control.

As the song went on, men began adding verses. They'd jump up on the tables and shout out lines- whether sung well or poorly- to the crowd who'd cheer or boo as couples danced to the tune.

Leaping upon a table nearby, Carnhain began his own verse, and other cavalrymen joined in as he sang.

"You'll sleep on the ground beneath your mount's feet

You'll smell of sweat and dung- you'll smell so sweet

Then in the morning at the bird's first tweet

You'll dance with the Jak o' the Shadows!"

Taking a deep draught of his ale, he heard cheers from the men- especially the other cavalrymen- while a few Infantrymen booed because of the contents.

Ingtar joined in with Carnhain, cheering when they completed the verse. He took a large swill from his ale. He had a nice large plate of food in front of him, a large mug, and a nice, plump, serving maid on his lap. The cavalry roared away with half drunken bliss and Ingtar gulped his ale. He buried into the food and got a re-fill on the mug. He pushed the maid away and got up from his table. He grabbed his mug and went into an open area. He began dancing away, cheered on by his fellow cavalry and everybody else in the Band. He danced and drank at the same time, unfortunately, he wasn't very good at it and spilled more on himself then down his gullet. Ingtar went back to his table and found the maid waiting for him. They walked towards an empty room...

Mehrin had never sung "Dance With Jak o' the Shadows," and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. His voice did not lend itself well to singing; he sung the way a peacock did, only a few octaves lower. It was no suprise to hear the song being sung as he approached the training yard from the Field of the Fallen. Behind, a single flower at the base of one of the myriad of white crosses was the only evidence Mehrin had been and gone. Tonight was not a night for the dead, though. Tonight was a night of life, of joy. Of drink...

Soon, Mehrin found himself at the end of the table where the drinks were served. He had bypassed the ale completely, opting instead for the local brandy. On his return toward the entrance, he caught sight of Kedyn with a look on his face that, for the first time since Cairhien, wouldn't curdle milk. Seating himself on the corner of the nearest table to the scout, Mehrin said, "It's about time that you became approachable again, Kedyn."

Jumping down from the table, and spilling ale over his wrist at the same time, Carnhain went and joined Kael and Mehrin as he caught Mehrin's comment.

"'Bout time too." Carnhain said laughing and cutting off his friend's reply. "And from what I hear, he's making a move on another one of his scouts." With an elbow in the ribs and a wink, the cavalryman was up to his old mischeif again.

Kedyn shook his head and added to both the cheers and the jeers as "Dance with Jack o' the Shadows" begna to ring out across the field. The Band adding it's single voice to it's theme song as it were. A dark song, dancing with death and all, but it lifted spirits tremendously.

"It's about time that you became approachable again, Kedyn." Kedyn turned to look at the Band's commander, Mehrin Deathwatch. He smiled at the comment glad that the commander was friendly enough, Kedyn had been less than welcoming when Mehrin had come to him before.

Kedyn opened his mouth to reply when a familier face walked up, anouncing his own opinion. "'Bout time too. And from what I hear, he's making a move on another one of his scouts."

Kedyn added his own laughter to his friends at the last part. Miria's deal that she had forced onto him had proved rather interesting and their antics that day had not done anything to help them. If anything it made everyone their beleive that they were lovers, adding to rumors. Even if none of them were true.

"Well, she helped me a lot. And well..you have to move on with your life eventually. You can only grieve for so long. Though I think swearing off drinking for a while will help to." Kedyn chuckled shaking his head again as he took in the drinks in Carnhain and Mehrins hands. The roars of song and dance played all the harder as the men of the Band began to migrate in force.

"You have no idea how nice it is to hear something that actually makes sense come out of your mouth," Mehrin said before taking another drink from the tankard in his hand. "Even if you're mistaken about the alcohol," he jokingly added as an afterthought.

The crowd was pressing in. Mehrin was glad that they had a chance to be happy for a time; without the opportunity to forget about what had happened in the past, one could quickly lose one's mind. Getting back on topic, Mehrin addressed Kedyn over the swelling noise. "So you're after someone under your command, eh? I can't order you to reconsider; I wouldn't anyway. Everybody needs something to keep them from going insane around here."

"You have no idea how nice it is to hear something that actually makes sense come out of your mouth, Even if you're mistaken about the alcohol,"

Kedyn laughed loudly at the comment, feeling good to finally be able to that again. Joking around with friends, finally not consumed by self pity and despair. Though he knew he was far from mistaken about the Alcohol for him at least. He wouldn't touch that stuff fo a long time to come. Miria would kill me anyways, if she caught me with anything like that anyways.

"So you're after someone under your command, eh? I can't order you to reconsider; I wouldn't anyway. Everybody needs something to keep them from going insane around here."

Kedyn smirked and shook his head, Light this little game he and Miria were playing was an interesting one. He had promised. "I don't think I'm the one doing the chasing this time. I seem to be just a rabbit running through a snare infested trail," Kedyn called back over the rising clamour. "And I know full well what it means, she being under my command. Lavena was under my command after all. But I won't deny the going insane part. I'm surpised you haven't already Fearless Commander. I can't say I', jeolous of you."

Mehrin laughed at Kedyn's answer. So the man was going to give up drinking for a while. There was nothing wrong with that at all. Maybe I should... nah. Out loud, he said, "My free time is spent training, drinking, or sitting in the Field of the Fallen. Who's to say that I haven't snapped?" The grim look on Mehrin's face only lasted for a few moments before laughter crept through it yet again. He had no doubt of his sanity; he had to be insane to have remained!

"I think the only thing that has kept me from losing what's left of my sanity is the memories I have of those that I've loved," Mehrin added before downing the rest of his brandy. To avoid that territory, Mehrin shifted the conversation back to safer grounds. His eyes floated over the crowd, finally stopping at one man whose scowl seemed to deepen with each drink he took. He caught Kedyn's attention and directed it towards the man in question.

"You see him? I'll wager a gold crown that he starts the first fight of the evening. Do we have a bet?"

OOC: Short, I know, but this thread has so much potential that it would be a sin to let it die.

It was a good thought, that the memories of those he had loved could keep him going. The light knows how many loved one's Kedyn had left behind or outlived. His family which he hadn't seen for a good many years and now Lavena. Kedyn shook his head and took his mind out of those memories, determined not to ruin the day.

"You see him? I'll wager a gold crown that he starts the first fight of the evening. Do we have a bet?

Kedyn turned his gaze to the man Mehrin was motioning to. The man was on the verge of punching someone and the seemingingly endless drinks he was comsuming were not helping, rather making the situation worse and worse. It was almost a rigged bet.

Kedyn scanned the crowd around the man to find a potential candidate for who he was going to fight with, or someone who would start it first. His eyes picked tidbits from each person, having been trained to see more in a glance than others would in a conversation of studying.

"I'll take it. The one down behind him a bit is shooting some dangerous looks. I'll put a silver mark that those to fight and the smaller one wins." Kedyn motioned to a man, half a foot smaller than the first and looking much more sober, though in the mood to match the other.

Miria was scowling slightly to herself when she finally arrived at the training yards. The celebration was well underway by the time she made her appearance, and her lateness was part of the reason for her scowl. She had spent so long fussing over her appearance, something else which irritated her to no end. She had never overly cared about her looks before, but for some reason she wanted to look her best.

Her eyes flicked over the crowd of people, many already well into the festivites, the ale and wine flowing freely. She knew the reason she suddenly cared about her appearance. That reason was across the field from her, talking and smiling jovially, looking devastatingly handsome as always. He was the reason she had spent so long perfecting the blonde waves that fell just past her shoulders, the reason she had actually donned a dress for the first time since arriving at the band. She had once felt comfortable in skirts, yet now she felt strangely self-conscious, her hands smoothing the emerald green of her gown absently.

Miria had never bothered to go to this much trouble for anyone before, and the reasons why still baffled her, even if she couldn't help herself. It was a strange game she played, acting the part of a lover, when in actuality they were no such thing. Her eyes took in Kedyn, facing slightly away from her. He had agreed to their plan readily enough, yet did he realise that she was starting to wish more and more it was real, and not a game? Did he no it was thoughts of him that kept her awake more often than she slept? Of course he didn't know, she had not even breathed a hint at what she felt. How could she? He still grieved over his lost love. Besides which, he was her commanding officer...he was grateful for her help, for certain, but she dared not push her luck. Still, here she was, looking her best, all for a man. Fool!

Hesitating, Miria very almost turned on her heel and headed back to her barracks, until another of the foxes spotted her, greeting her warmly and drawing her out of the shadows. No escaping now. Plastering a bright smile to her face, she accepted the wine offered, though she didn't drink it. She engaged in conversation, quietly accepting the compliments offered her way, the whole time looking for a chance to flee. What was she thinking? Obviously she wasn't, more the point. She had never faced this sort of dilemma before. Burn him for doing this to her!

A smile bloomed on Kedyn’s face as he spotted one of the reason’s for his new found happiness. He sat back and watched from a distance as she hesitantly holding a glass of wine, talking with a few other members of the Band. It had taken a few moments before he had been able to recognize her in the green dress, her hair an immaculate creation of curls. Although Kedyn had found the woman wearing a dress he had grown used to seeing her in breeches and a shirt instead of skirts.

Kedyn turned and told Mehrin he would be right back, and that he was watching the two men for their bet that was still going on. Threading through the crowd Kedyn made his way to the Littlest Fox, Miria being the newest one added to their ranks. The last to refill their lost ranks from Carhein.

Kedyn had wondered constantly why he seemed to enjoy sending time with Miria so much. Why he was constantly poking fun at her and partaking in the façade they put on for the benefit of the rest of the Band. He had thought of a few solutions, and many scared him as much as how much she reminded him of Lavena sometimes. He couldn’t, not again.

Sneaking up behind her Kedyn wounds his hands up almost into balls. Pinching her sides just above the hips with the the knuckle of his thumb and index fingers, he leaned in close to her ear and whispered. “Boo!â€

Dashiva carefully walked into the party area, looking around cautiously. He'd spent time in his tent listening to the festivities and finally decided to at least take a look around.

Although he still had the Band scout uniform from when he'd been spying here, he decided against wearing it. Plate armor would also look out of place, so he went simple and wore his Black Tower blacks.

At least his coat had silver lightning bolts embroidered on his sleeves which was more than simple Asha'men had, and his pins added a little more color. Buttoning the high Andoran collar all the way up, he'd made his way through the shadows almost skulking his way to the party.

Taking a mug of beer from a tray, he held it close to his chest without any intent to drink from it. Already a space formed around him as people of the Band noticed the blacks, and his Shienaran warrior topknot and made him sigh softly.

Then he started looking for a good secure spot to put his back to and watch without risk of someone still mad at what he'd done to stick a knife in his back.

Grinning at Kedyn and Mehrin's bets, Carnhain was surprised when Keydn suddenly lept out and started wading through the crowd. The surprise turned to amusement when the cavalryman saw Miria though.

"So Mehrin, what so you think of Keydn's new lady love? Two gold marks says we catch him kissing her before the night's through." Laughing, Carnhain wondered whether the commander would take the bet.

Miria very nearly lept a mile into the air when she was suddenly pinched, and a breathy voice whispered in her ear. She whirled, coming face to face with a grinning Kedyn, wine slopping over her wrist. Her stomach did a little jump, the way it always did when he smiled at her that way. A slow smile curved her lips in return. "Didn't you know it's rude to sneak up on a lady like that?" Belatedly noticing the dampness at her wrist, she looked down, wincing at the red wine marring her pale skin.

"See what you've done?" She muttered, more teasing than annoyed, as she waved her wrist in front of him. "I'm starting to think trouble follows you." She murmured with a twinkle in her eye. "Though I don't want to apply that name to myself." Handing him the glass she fished in her belt pouch and withdrew a handkerchief, wiping at the stain vigorously. Served her right for trying to make herself look fancy, just for his benefit. Backfired! She should have known.

When she was satisfied that none had landed on her dress, light forbid, she turned her eyes to his empty hands. "You're not drinking? Good to see. Light only knows how much would end up on your clothing." She grinned cheekily at him and forced her eyes away from his strong, calloused hands, lest she start imagining them on her skin. Argh, too late.

She snapped her eyes back to his and fought the blush that threatened to stain her cheeks. If she didn't soon learn to control those wayward thoughts of hers, well she hated to imagine what colour her skin would permanently be! Thankfully some drunken shouts interrupted her thoughts and gave her an excuse to turn her head, absently pushing aside several stray curls as she caught glimpses of two men having what appeared to almost be an friendly scuffle. Miria shook her head. She would never understand men, of that she was certain.

Miria poked Kedyn in the ribs playfully, without thinking. Her fingers encountered muscle, and she instantly pulled her hand back, as though burnt, as though the searing heat of his skin beneath his shirt could reach her. "You don't see women doing that, using their brawn instead of their brains...or is that because it's the only option they have?" She turned her deliberately innocent expression towards him, though her eyes glinted mischieviously. She leaned a little closer, her voice lowered so only he could hear. "I'd say you weren't the same, but the ease with which I best you makes me think otherwise." The grin she awarded him was nothing short of wicked, always enjoying teasing him so. Perhaps she enjoyed it a little too much, because he always seemed to end up causing her to blush, and would unwittingly fill her head with all those interesting thoughts she desperately tried to ignore.

"See what you've done?" Kedyn grinned to himself, rather overly pleased with the little amount of misheif he had been able to cause. What he had intended to happy when he had followed through with his little plan had worked perfectly. "I'm starting to think trouble follows you. Though I don't want to apply that name to myself."

Holding the glass of wine Kedyn snorted in laughter at the comment, the image of Miria following him as if she was his shadow was a rather amusing concept in itself. "You're not drinking? Good to see. Light only knows how much would end up on your clothing."

"If one lesson of yours ended up in this thick skull of mine was that drinking isn't the best of ideas. It dulls the wit and I need all of that to handle being around you." Kedyn turned as the familier sounds of a fight started from behind him. Smiling ans shaking his head Kedyn realised that he had lost the first bet, Kedyn could have sworn the shorter would have been the one to start the fight. He still had a chance to win some money back.

"You don't see women doing that, using their brawn instead of their brains...or is that because it's the only option they have? I'd say you weren't the same, but the ease with which I best you makes me think otherwise."

Kedyn turned his head and leaned a small bit closer. "The reason women dont do that is because they get men to do it for them cause they don't fight there own battles. And you best me? Red looks good on you Mir." Smiling Kedyn looped his arm with Miria's and turned back towards the commander.

"Here I want you to meet someone." Kedyn changed his position so that instead of their arms looped he had taken Miria's hand, interlacing his fingers with her own. He led Miria away from the fight and towards where the commander was standing, and Carnhain were standing, giving her a few pointers. "I wouldn't salute him or call him sir thought, and I wouldn't try and wrap him around your finger as your trying to do me love." Kedyn smiled cheekily.

Stopping a few feet from Mehirn he nodded to both Carnhain and Mehrin. "Miria, this is Lieutenant Carnhain Stromblade of the Cavalry." He motioned to the blond haired former tinker. "And Mehrin Deathwatch, Commander of the Band of the Red Hand. Carnhian, Mehrin. Miria Landen, my newest Scout."

"If one lesson of yours ended up in this thick skull of mine was that drinking isn't the best of ideas. It dulls the wit and I need all of that to handle being around you."Miria beamed at the compliment, glad that he had taken her advice to heart, and thrilled that he noted her wit. In turn, she needed every scrap of wit she possessed if she was going to save any face with this one. He was a formidable opponent.

"The reason women dont do that is because they get men to do it for them cause they don't fight there own battles. And you best me? Red looks good on you Mir." Miria only just resisted the urge to poke her tongue out at him. She could hardly help it if her complexion was fair and prone to blushing. Especially whenever he was nearby. He looped his arm with hers and turned her as she tried to regain control of her features, his hand suddenly lacing intimately with hers.

Heat travelled up her arm like a lightning bolt from the touch, though she found she liked it very much, his hard, battle-calloused hand against her smaller, softer one. "Here I want you to meet someone."Miria obediently followed, listening to Kedyn's advice, again overwhelmed with the urge to poke her tongue out at him when he warned her not to try wrapping the commander around her finger. Settling for a slight jab with her fingernail in his palm and a meaningful look, she was suddenly face to face with the Commander an Carnhain.

"And Mehrin Deathwatch, Commander of the Band of the Red Hand. Carnhian, Mehrin. Miria Landen, my newest Scout." Miria nodded and greeted them both with a bright smile. "I take it Carnhain didn't tell you that we have already met?" She grinned cheekily at Carnhain, but her words were directed at Kedyn. "Though it wasn't the most formal of introductions." She raised a brow at the blonde man, recalling how he had barged into her tent the first night she arrived.

The young Lieutenant grinned. "That it was not!" he said, clearly remembering the night he had gone in search of Kedyn, only to stumble upon Miria. A sad shadow also crossed his face, remembering Lavena. She had ben one of his closest friends besides Rowul and Kedyn.

As if trying to shake off greif- a puddle beside Kedyn's- he turned to his best friend, grinning insolently and laughing conspiratorilly. "Yes we met a few nights back in her tent! I coudln't help noticing her beauty and as you were...away...I though I might enjoy a visit." With all the winking and elbow jabbing, it was obvisouly apparent that what he was implying was not in the least bit true, yet it lit Miria's face in bright, red, light.

ooc: conspiratorilly...doubt that's a word...or if it is it's not how it's spelled...

"That it was not!"Miria grinned in agreeance, she had been shocked to the core to find a strange man barging into her tent in the middle of the night, though a slow blush crept over her cheeks as Carnhain continued. "Yes we met a few nights back in her tent! I coudln't help noticing her beauty and as you were...away...I though I might enjoy a visit."

Light, the way he put it, it sounded as though they had enjoyed a tryst together! Of course, he was jesting, but that didn't stop the blush from heating her cheeks, and Kedyn's mock outrage didn't help a whit, the teasing evident in his eyes. "Yes, it appears Carnhain here likes to make a habit of barging in on sleeping ladies and scaring the wits out of them." She said dryly, shooting Carnhain a warning look. Were all the men in this army such wicked teases?

Trying to turn the tables some, a wicked gleam entered her own eye. "Though Carnhain was apparantly looking for you...do you make it a habit to sleep in every tent but your own?" She said cheekily at Kedyn, before blushing at her own words, belatedly realising just how bad they sounded. Good heavens, she was going to be permanently red for sure, she thought as she looked down into the wine in her cup, willing the redness away.

With an insolent grin, Carnhain replied to the scout's suggestion at his gender preference. "Kedyn's lucky he can get me, my presence is often requested in many yound ladies tents." An outright lie, but a joke nonetheless. Kedyn had always been the one with lover's not Carnhain. Never the boy who had never learned to love.

Kedyn cocked an eyebrow and feigned a look of silent outrage as he listened to the origins of the first meeting. It at least was better than when his friend and Lavena had first met, from what Kedyn had gleaned Lavena had apparently walked into the bath house without knowing it while Carnhain wasn't wearing much. Though when Miria was facing away Kedyn's face changed to one of pure humor from the blush creeping up her cheeks. A look of silent acknowledgement to Carnhain's tease.

"Though Carnhain was apparantly looking for you...do you make it a habit to sleep in every tent but your own?" Kedyn laughed freely at Miria's comment and how innocent it was compared to how dirty it could be taken. "I did, though that habit has seemed to break since the barracks make it so much harder to sneak around."

"Kedyn's lucky he can get me, my presence is often requested in many yound ladies tents." Kedyn smiled at the words, said in jest perhaps but it still made a silent pang in Kedyn's heart. He knew how worthless Carnhain would think of himself and how he didn't think someone could love him.

"Well mister pretty boy, I'm just suprised they accept you. That rather awful horse stench seems to have become a rather permenant part of you." Kedyn faked a rather dramatic look that spoke of his disgust. "It's a wonder anyone can be near you for long."

Carnhain laughed. "Horse stench! The ladies love a man who faces danger rather than sneaking away from it! And who's calling who pretty boy? I'm not the one with all my cavalry women on my arms and in my bed." he said with mock indignation. The fact that the two men could joke about a topic so close to both hearts- though sometimes it seemed to Carnhain that he had none- proved their friendship.

"And you, sir," he said readressing Kedyn. "aren't much better than me. You sit atop Arrow about as much as I do, mind you and that horse seem to be heading away from the people I gallop towards!" Broad grins were spread across all those in the group, along with many a blush at the crudeity of the jests.

"I did, though that habit has seemed to break since the barracks make it so much harder to sneak around." Miria barely resisted the urge to poke her tongue out at Kedyn again at his teasing, finding the image of him making his way around all the women's tents was a disturbing one. In the end she just pulled a face at him and stabbed his palm with a fingernail, where their hands were still joined.

Miria smiled along with their banter, what seemed to be playful anyway, though again the picture of Kedyn with scouts 'on his arms and in his bed' bothered her no end, why exactly she didn't know. Afterall, they were playing a game, pretending, even if she knew she no longer pretended, she had no right to the feminine anger that surged at the thought of Kedyn with another woman.

Deliberately pushing her thoughts aside, she shot Carnhain a teasing grin. "Scouts just think with their brains instead of their brawn is all." She said. "Though with Kedyn, I sometimes have to wonder." She grinned, winking at Carnhain, forcing the picture of Kedyn in an embrace with another woman far out of her mind.

"Scouts just think with their brains instead of their brawn is all. Though with Kedyn, I sometimes have to wonder." Even with all the teasing bantering back and forth Kedyn could not deny that today was one of the best days he had had in the Band. There was something about the joyous air, and spending time with those you cared about that was enough to make the smile on Kedyn's face permentant, and is laughter quick to appear.

"I am so glad everyone seems to have such confidence in me. And I don't blame you for not having all those cavalry women on your arm, I took all the best new recruits for the scouts in that aspect." Kedyn laughed lightly and put an arm around Miria's shoulders, pulling her close in the sembelence of a hug.

Kedyn took on a look of supreme arrogance as he went on. Sniffing and pointedly looking down his nose at his friend. "And it is not my fault if I am just to important to be spent on fighting on top of those four legged beasts. I doubt you would be able to even find that spear line if we scouts didn't point your horses in the direction for you." Kedyn broked his pose laughing to himself.

"I am so glad everyone seems to have such confidence in me. And I don't blame you for not having all those cavalry women on your arm, I took all the best new recruits for the scouts in that aspect." Miria couldn't help the little flood of pleasure at Kedyn's words, though likely they were more part of their act than anything else. Still, she enjoyed the compliment all the same, especially when it was combined with the warm pressure of his arm about her shoulder.

Miria smiled to herself, enjoying the light hearted joking. If she hadn't been there for the change, been the driving force behind it, really, she never would have believed Kedyn was the same man that had encountered her on the road to the citadel. He had been so sombre, so cold...but now his smile was never far from his lips, his voice warm and always teasing, especially when aimed at her, it seemed. It was typical though, that she had tried so hard to bring him out from behind the walls he had erected, only to find the amazing man underneath far more dangerous. If only he wasn't so darned appealing.

Fidgeting with her glass, Miria tried to fight the blush that threatened her cheeks once more with where her thoughts had started heading. Did he have any idea how distracting he was, when he smiled like that? Lifting the goblet, she took a deep swallow of the strong wine, letting it warm her belly, focusing on that instead of the warmth emanating from the arm around her shoulders. Not accustomed to strong drink, no doubt it would go straight to her head, but perhaps that would prevent her from opening her fool mouth and sprouting just how Kedyn was affecting her. Besides, she'd only have the one glass, her fingers tightening around it to prevent her hand from sneaking around Kedyn's waist. Game or not, something told her she would be heading for the point of no return if she did that.

"Are you sure you could find the line yourself?" Miria asked sweetly, a mischievious twinkle in her eye as she jumped back into the conversation to distract her from her wayward thoughts. "I noticed you do have a terrible habit for misplacing things...like, oh I don't know, knives..." Her voice trailed off and she grinned impishly over her goblet, taking another sip of the potent liquor as she joined Carnhain in teasing Kedyn.
