DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Greetings from sunny Iraq!

Hey everyone! I'm glad I was shown this website; it's good to know there are a lot of dedicated fans of the WoT and Robert Jordan.

A little about myself: I'm an enlisted soldier in the U.S. Army currently deployed to Iraq. I started reading the WoT series about 8 years ago (I was 15 at the time), and have been reading and rereading the series off and on between then and now. I had a pretty long hiatus and hadn't read beyond Crossroads of Twilight for a few years even though I had purchased the Knife of Dreams.

Couple of months back I noticed one of my team leaders reading the Eye of the World, and I asked him where he got it. He told me one of our LTs had given it to him in an attempt to actually get this guy to read something. I guess he mentioned this to the LT and he stopped by my room asking me to come with him. It's was pretty unusual for an officer to stop by and talk to me, so I assumed I was in trouble for something. He brought me to his room and opened up a file on his computer and showed me a treasure trove of WoT related material. Photos of Jim Rigney, DragonCon/JordanCon, all the cover art and fanart, even PDF files of the first ten books. Turns out this LT is Jim Rigneys 2nd cousin! I was stunned. He told me stories about him and his home (not to mention that impressive library), shared some interesting tidbits about where some of his ideas came from and photos of them together when he graduated from West Point.

Needless to say I jumped right back into the series and actually completed Towers of Midnight about 20 minutes ago. I'm really impatient for the last of the novels to be released and that's part of the reason I signed up for Dragonmount; I've never actually had to wait on a WoT book before haha. Sorry for being long winded everyone, and I hope to be an active member for some time!

Hey thanks for the warm reception Veranza! I appreciate the offer but we're leaving in a couple months (finally) and they're shutting the mail down soon.

I can tell there's a lot of content in this site. Care to explain the Accepted and Green Ajah to me, or should I just go to the noob forums to find out?

Hey there Xander, and welcome to DM! I'm going to let V explain the system here, since she knows it pretty well. Please give your LT and your team leader a high five from us

Basically in the White Tower there are two ways that you can go; Aes Sedai or Warder. When you go Aes Sedai, you have to rank up like you would in the books; novice, accepted and then full Aes Sedai. You have to fulfill different requirements for each to move onto the next level. Participating in certain forums, classes, events, so on and so forth. Once you are raised to the Accepted level, you are able to formally request to be invited into a certain Ajah, in which there are seven, as per the books; Blue, Brown, Gray, Green, Red, White and Yellow. Each Ajah has their people and activities and each member goes where they feel the most comfortable. I personally felt the most comfortable with the Green Ajah. Since I have not completed my tasks to become a full Aes Sedai, I cannot put Sedai after my name.

As for the Warders, they have their own tasks and leveling that I am not 100% certain on because I am not fulfilling those requirements, but you can go there to the boards and ask for some loving there.

Hopefully that helps you out! Any other questions, let me know!

Or, you join the Band of the Red Hand, which happens to quicker path to glory and greatness! Oh, and we come before the White Tower boards, so you don't have to scroll down as far! Must be a perk!

I hope you enjoy your time at the site! And continue to keep asking the questions if you get lost and want some help!
