why would he allow graendal to take the rulers then, it would be easier for him to compell 2 people instead of at least a dozen (advisors).

The real power in Shara has always been the Ayyad, so it wouldn't matter if the Sh'boan and Sh'botay were still there. There's also the question of timing.

If Demandred's clothes are the evidence, I would like to put forward an alternative theory: he's hiding out in a boutique. Just think about it for a second. It gives him access to the latest fashions. His army is an army of sales assistants and tailors, ready to sell, cut and adjust those fahsions to fit - the Trollocs are going to look fabulous come TG, while the forces of the Light will be hampered by too many ruffles. Now I just need to comb LoC for evidence of anyone starting to dress better from that book onwards - what Demandred is referring to with his "Have I not done well, Great Lord?"
