In celebration of International Women's Day, the Red Ajah at the White Tower Social Group is presenting International Women's Week.

If anyone would like to participate, they can find the main topic (with links to further events) here.

You can also find more information on the worldwide activities here: http://www.ariyena.com/IWW/

You can organise your own activity, or join in one or more of those already posted up. I've organised the following WoT inspired activity, for instance:

Activity: Wear the ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai in support of equality everywhere.

The Flame of Tar Valon is the official symbol of the White Tower and the Amyrlin Seat. It is the opposite of the Dragon's Fang. The Flame is an ancient symbol, though its original meaning has been forgotten by present-day people. In the Age of Legends, the Flame, along with the Dragon's Fang, was part of the ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai. Since the Breaking and the splitting of the Aes Sedai to remove the men, the Flame has taken on another meaning. It is no longer connected with female channelers by the common person, and its origins are lost to common knowledge by the passing of years, but superstition still regards the Flame as a sign of female Aes Sedai.

As the Ancient Symbol of the Aes Sedai represented the equality of male and female Channelers, so should it represent the equality of genders, races and nationalities in our time.

For only when there is mutual respect, can there be true equality.

Print the above symbol and paste it on something, or make it from whatever material you wish, then wear it in support of equality and enlightenment. You can also choose to use it as your avatar on any site, or for instance on Facebook.

Location of the activity: Worldwide, wherever you are you can join in this activity.

Date of the activity: between 23 February and 8 March 2011.

Pledge yourself: post a comment here if you wish to join in this event and make sure to include the name of the site you belong to, your handle, location and the date when you will wear the symbol.
