I just got called a pom by an aussie and I not heard it before so I googled it and it is slang for British in Aus, NZ and SA apparently :)

I knew the Aussies said it (though I thought it was more to do with the English rather than Britain as a whole) but I had no idea the South Africans used it too. Bet it's got something to do with cricket

 

I'd agree wit the English part, wouldn't sound right to call a scot a pom, don't know anything about it pertaining to cricket though
