that's all you do in school no other ones? Just making sure, It's different here

Yes :)

We do A levels here. At my school we can choose up to 5 subjects in year 12 (most people choose 4, I think but some do 5 and some only do 3). In year 13 most people drop a subject to get 3 A levels (because that's what uni offers are based on for A levels, e.g. AAB) but you don't have to drop one...

AAB? SOrry I didn't get that part.

In SA you have to do four subjects

First Language

Second Language

Maths/Maths lit (maths lit is the equivalent of junior school maths)

Life orientation (which is a joke)

Then you have all sort of other subjects that can get taught and they differ depending on the school, most offer the usuals (Science, Biology, History, Geography) but some schools get more specialised (engineering, agriculture etc.)

You have to choose at least three of these types of subjects which leaves you with a minimum of seven subjects, though you can do more if you choose

My subjects are:

First Language: English

Second Language: Afrikaans (a local language mostly of dutch origin, though its easier than dutch)

Maths

Life orientation (which is still a joke)

My chosen subjects are:

Science

Biology

IT (Information technology - web design, java that sort of thing)

and because I don't think that enough I do two extra subjects:

ADmaths (I guess this is the equivalent of further maths, we do ADmaths lessons in the same time that everyone else does normal maths or maths lit)

French (which I do once a week for 45 minutes)
