I've got a really, really obscure 'what am I'

 

I was a gift from one very major character to another very major character.

I am of the highest quality, but was not necessarily used in a way I was made for.

At first my recipient was incredulous, but after a short amount of time they thanked my previous owner.

After the chapter I appeared in ended, there was no explanation of what happened to me, but I was never mentioned again.

 

What am I?

Nah, Owayn, this is an actual object in the WoT universe. No Christmas there, but the recipient does think about 'feastdays' when they see it for the first time.

 

Lynchgrinch, that's a good guess. I had to actually look up whether the belt buckle fit the criteria because I couldn't remember. It turns out that it is in fact mentioned in a number of chapters after that (in RJ's offhand clothing descriptions which I don't pay super close attention to most of the time). Otherwise it fits as far as I can remember.

 

Needless to say, the buckle isn't 'who I am', but one of the people you mentioned was involved in the exchange of the actual item.
