So, we have our final 16 pieces to challenge for the title of DM's and the Band's favourite piece of Classical music in the "It's A Knockout" thread.

The final 16 pieces were as follows:

1. Jupiter by Gustav Holst

2. O Fortuna by Carl Orff

3. Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner

4. Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber

5. Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel

6. William Tell Overture by Gioachino Rossini

7. The Great Gate of Kiev by Modest Mussorgsky

8. Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov

9. War March of the Priests by Felix Mendelssohn

10. Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major, BWV 1048 by JS Bach

11. Le veau d'or by Charles Gounod

12. Night on a Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky

13. 1812 Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

14. Bolero by Maurice Ravel

15. Rhapsody In Blue by George Gershwin

16. Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn

Were there any obvious omissions from the list? Which piece do you think will win?

This thread is open to any discussion on pieces of Classical Music.

That's an interesting point....I might've nominated one of their music but I don't think I got around to nominating any pieces last week...oh well lol

There's still a lot of very prominent classical composers on there.

Personally, I would like to see The Great Gates of Kiev win. It probably ranks as one of my favourite pieces of Classical music.

I was about to say there was a dominance by Russian composers, but then checked - they only made up a quarter of the nominations.

Not a single piece by neither Mozart nor Beethoven? ::)

Hopefully this week's "Tune or No Tune" makes up for the disappointment...

Not really, it should be obvious by now that mainstream is not quite my cup of tea ;)
