Too new...but so old.

Hello all,

 

  I'm 40, parent of 2 wonderful children with a equally wonderful wife and work in the health care. I presently live in the great state of Tennessee.

 

  I've known of this site for several years but after reading The Gathering Storm (TGS) and after finishing last night I just had to register. I'm dying to talk with others who have read the book and get their feedback.

 

  When I found out Brandon Sanderson was writing the final book(s) I was interested to see what he has done before. I read the Mistborn Trilogy in Oct / Nov and just finished the books when TGS arrived. I generally enjoyed the first book, had issues with pacing and plot on the second and really, really enjoyed the final book in the Trilogy.

 

  I still had my doubts about his ability to dive into the WoT books and finish what Mr Jordan had started. After reading TGS I no longer have any doubts. It was simply a wonderful book and he has risen to the occasion and beyond. The book was beyond my expectation and to me it seems that Sanderson has matured greatly as a writer since the Mistborn Trilogy.

 

  I finished the Mistborn Trilogy and thought...young adults who enjoyed Harry Potter would enjoy these books. I finished TGS and thought...Mr Jordan and Mr Tolkien would have finished this book with a smile of satisfaction.

 

  I'm hoping to find folks who enjoyed the book(s) as I have and I really, really hope to discuss what people believe will happen next. I am literally beside myself wondering how the next books will begin, end and everything in-between.

I still have to read the books by Sanderson. I might do that while I wait for TGS to be published in paperback, as I refuse to pay the over-the-top prices for hardbacks. But I have a whole heap pf other books to get through first though.

 

Have a good look around the site. There is much to offer, with the ORGs (groups based on those in the books with differing themes, for example, the Band of the Red Hand is music and travel with a dash of eating out) and the Role Playing side down the bottom. Then there are the book discussions at the top. There should be something for everyone. If you get lost and/or confused, don't hesitate to ask questions - we will do our best to help.
