I always assumed it was an acronym.  But I know it is an actual english word that means like the peak of a bare, rocky hill.

I think you mean THOR with the H. Tor is a bare peak like Karana said. That is their logo in fact.

But yeah, considering the logo, it seems quite likely it is the meaning of peak that is intended. It is quite easy to see a certain symbolic value in that.
