Because not everyone understands why certain plots are so important. There are many characters with parts to play and some people dislike the distribution of PoVs, the balance between the core characters and the semi-main characters. Some people feel that the second half of the series goes downhill because of slower pacing.

I personally dont feel that theres anything wrong with the later books. Suffice it to say that if you were looking for an epic series, you found its dad.

LoveToWin:

The first couple of books, or even the first four, are relatively fast-paced. I flew through them back in the days (1995). I can tell you that as the series moves on it grows both wider and deeper, storywise. The complexity of this saga is unbelievable and that means that the farther you get into the story the more wide and deep it becomes. I almost gave up on RJ and his world when I reached Crossroads of Twilight when I saw that the prologue alone was almost 100 pages long. That caused me to put the book away and it took me a long time to re-charge my interest battery and finish it.

When I realized that the story still was great I continued and am now waiting for The Gathering Storm like a child waits for Santa Clause and the presents! :)

Anyway: If you expect all the books will be as fast as The Eye of the World and the following two, three books, you will be let down. Books 5-11 are more challenging on a climbing scale. :) Still, very very much worth the time spent reading them.

Hands down I have to say that The Wheel of Time saga is the best work of fiction I have ever read. It beats Tokien, King, all of them. The complexity of the storylines, the fully developed and still developing characters... oh lord.. ;) I think I will read this untill the day I die!

So, go ahead and read all of it!
