ta'veren

RJ did say it was unlikely that a Ta'veren would remain so if they converted to the Shadow. He didnt say impossible though, and I can see why he didnt. If something only obtainable from within the Shadow was vital to Rands success, Im sure he might remain Ta'veren still, because at the end of the day the Ta'veren corrects the Pattern, not the Ta'verens wishes. So if Rand was Ta'veren, maybe instead of people making promises and unreversable oaths, certain Darkfriends might follow him only to be killed in a battle they would otherwise have avoided. Even though Dark Rand might want them to do stuff, the Ta'veren side could still work against it. I suppose a Dark Ta'veren would feel very unlucky.

Ta'veren come neither from from the Light or the Dark, they are of the Pattern.  The pattern produces them to correct itself and so if the Pattern needed the Shadow to grow in strength it would issue forth a Dark ta'veren.

At least thats what I believe.

Here is what RJ had to say on the matter.

The Wheel creates ta'veren at need, making someone who is already alive one. You aren't born ta'veren. Can you imagine being around a ta'veren who is teething? It would be possible for a Darkfriend or Forsaken to be made ta'veren, but it seems unlikely. Ta'veren are part of the Wheel's self-correcting mechanism. When the Pattern seems to be drifting too quickly, and especially if it is in the wrong direction, one or more ta'veren are created. I can't really see how making a Darkfriend or Forsaken ta'veren would help with correcting the drift of the Pattern.
