Why do so many readers hate Path of Daggers?

The problem with tPoD and CoT is that both were originally meant to be part of a larger book--originally RJ intended tPoD and WH to be one book, and CoT and KoD to be one book. In that light both tPoD and CoT are good--for the first half of a full book.

As a book by themselves they are unsatisfying, and lack a real climax. That being said some of the best stuff in the series occur in them.

I didn't know that either Luckers, it does make a lot sense now that I think about it.

Not to be all negative, but the whole series would have been better if some of chapters had been compressed, and edited so that these four books actually made two. As I said in my earlier post, the whole getting to the farm and bowl action could have been at lot shorter (in words and pages), same with the Perrin getting to Faile bit. I don't recall the chapter, or book now (cardinal sin I know :)), it takes two or three pages for Perrin to cross one side of his camp to the other.

After aCoS, it has always seemed to me that more and more filler took up the books, until KoD came out - which is a brilliant book.

Ignoring the post by binaryworm, I think one of the reasons I like Cot and WH might be because I didn't have to wait for the next books to be released. I came to Wot pretty late so all of the books except for WH and KoD were out and by the time I got there they were released.

There are parts of the story that are not as interesting but they had to be told. Robert Jordan was a great enough author to realize that regardless of how the fanbase would react.

You fail if you like Crossroads of twilight or winters heart.

Or possibly...Just hear me out, I have a mind of my own. I know that was completely mind-blowing for a tool like you, but it happens sometimes.

*note for the confused - this post refers to a since deleted screed by a banned poster who threatened to hack the site (and used "we" to refer to himself) - Kivam*

Personally WE don't care how annoyed you are with the series. You obviously must like the thing otherwise why spend time writing that post. Though we think you made some fine and cogent points and many we agree with, we found your tendency to wander and become only semi-lucid toward the end to be redolent of what we now refer to as the Jordan Syndrome. We are sure that out there on the Left Coast there should be some fruit and nut farmer who could supplement your diet and help you to overcome said malady. We find your self aggrandizing threats to only show more proof that you have collectively gone off the deep end without your floaties.....

I came to the series late. I had seen it for years and the cover art always turned me off. And still does, EotW particularly. Why does Moiraine appear to be riding a shetland pony? Where did it ever mention her liking miniature horses?... Oh wait, I'm rambling.

My occupation was and is driving. For the last 20 years I've averaged 115k miles a year, the last five or so I've slowed some. So, in order to keep reading I had to learn to listen. Thus I became an audiobook fan. One day while looking for something to help me keep driving and finding only self help drivel and books I'd listened to before I finally picked up EotW and a fan was born. The problem was, all the books were not ON audio, nor could I find the next one always. You see, I rented the books at that time and the kiosk's had limited numbers, genres, etc.

So I listened to the story catch as catch can up until Winters Heart I think it was. ACoS and tPoD (the only two I own actual books of) were the LAST two I listened to actually as they were the last to be "audioized". I only had to wait actually for Crossroads and KoD. So I've always taken the series as one long arsed story. I've since listened to it a half dozen times in sequence and out. Picking a part of the story that I particularly wish to refresh my failing memory about.

Yeah, the story flags, flails and flounders here and there. Parts of it infuriate me because it drags, characters annoy me with their foibles, and "as she folded her arms beneath her breasts" causes me to alternately laugh at RJ's writing cliche, nod my head in agreement or roll my eyes depending on my mood. But I love the story, the detail in the world he created, the motivations of characters important and not... All of it.

I only hope Sanderson can recreate once or twice in the next installments a Jordan hallmark. The ability in describing a scene to bring a sense of overwhelming joy, pride for a characters' accomplishment or tears in a situation.

I don't hate on any of the books. Some are better, some are worse, none are bad. But none stand alone either at least not to me they don't.
