Physical description: Braelin has dark red hair and blueish-green eyes. He is of average height and build for an Aiel of his age.

Character history: Braelin is the eldest child of four. His siblings, one brother and two sisters were 14, 12, and 10 respectively. Braelin's father and mother are both crafters. His father is a blacksmith and his mother a weaver. Braelin learned his father's craft and was quite skilled at it though he had no intention of a life of crafting. He kept it a secret though, not daring to bring up the subject to his parents. His father had often remarked that Braelin's skill would soon outshine his own.

 

As was common with most Aiel youth he spent much of his time hunting, wrestling, and doing chores when not helping his father. He was good with a bow, passable at tracking and a fast runner to boot. He enjoyed games of chance and contests pitting his skills against others. Braelin also liked placing wagers on their competitions though he seemed to lose more than win which meant that he spent more time smithing than he wished in order to pay debts. Many knew the quality of his work and baited him into competitions knowing they could best him as long as it was not bowmanship or a foot race.

 

Braelin continued to hone his skills with the bow, tracking, and wrestling. He practiced with spear as much as was allowed by one not of the warrior society. In the event of a raid all Aiel with the exception of a rare few were expected to pick up a spear. If his father or mother had suspected that it was anything more than that they would have put a stop to it.

 

On his 16th nameday he eagerly awaited the opportunity to prove himself worthy and be admitted into the warrior society.
