Req for NOVICE: Sanah Kooper

After what felt like forever Sanah set her eyes on the White Tower. Despite the ever growing numbness she suddenly felt all the butterflies bouncing around in her stomach, she looks over to Narime Sedai wondering what she is thinking. The rest of the group are all huddled away within there own group talking amounst themselves not even noticing the White Tower until we were crossing the bridge.

 

During the journey Narime Sedai had not favoured any of the girls, she expected chores to be done and done again, and nothing else. Sanah while becoming increasingly impatient to find out if she really can channel, continuously bugging the Aes Sedai to test her;  the same thing happens she says: "You'll be tested by the Mistress of Novices in the White Tower child." then set some penance for annoying her. So while grumbling away she does the penance, and while everyone is asleep she gets up and waves a stick around to ease her frustration.

 

Sanah never knew what the warders name was but she liked men and didn't mind looking; however she never stared for long because the other girls always came along to bully her. One day her temper got the better of her and she punched one in the nose, she couldn't even remember what it was for but it sure felt good until Narime Sedai came round to break them up.

Meanwhile in all the days with travelling to the White Tower, Sanah watched the Aes Sedai wondering why she was ignoring them all; so instead Sanah set about with trying to imitate her. The way she sits, talks, moves, right down to the expression on her face. After all that she thought how boring she must be, a blue she said she was after this trip one thing Sanah has learned, she has no desire to be a blue. Then she began thinking what the other Ajar’s were like, she wanted to be in one where there was fun, freedom with the men, but also quite serious; Sanah is not one to walk out of a fight if she believes it’s worth fighting for. But in reality, Sanah hadn’t really been in one, she always liked to believe that she was as brave as the warder.

 

So then there’s Tar Valon, all the girls heads kept looking left and right and wondering where all the shops are. But Sanah had only one building in her eyes, the White Tower. Sure she looked around sometimes but a city was a city. Then as if some miracle came by the Aes Sedai looked round at them and said:

“Stay close children, I will not be pleased if I have to fetch you.”

Then she looked ahead once more, her warder looking everywhere at the same time watching his Aes Sedai.

The butterflies in Sanah’s stomach grew more and more, if she weren’t in a saddle she would be frozen stiff. Getting annoyed with herself Sanah did some breathing exercises to help calm herself down. They didn’t work much.

 

As they rode through the gates of Tar Valon, Sanah saw merchants and poor alike hurrying in and out. She also saw women in white dresses, some with a stripped hem at the base and cuffs of the dress. Then she saw the Aes Sedai themselves, you couldn’t miss them the ageless faces all of the sudden turn their heads and look at the girls. Sanah felt them weigh her and she felt like in that instant they knew her inside out. The horses stopped.

“Dismount children were not standing here all day.”

Sanah was the last to get off her horse, the other girls were already taken away by a girl in white with a stripped hem.

“Sanah” The Aes Sedai said “Must I repeat myself. For that I shall take you to the Mistress of Novices myself and have you punished.”

Sanah quickly got down from the horse, meanwhile thinking that she will be glad to have this stubborn iron fist of an Aes Sedai out of her hair.

 

Following the Aes Sedai into the tower was in it self a great chore, because it was then that Sanah knew for sure that there was no going back. She had herd time and time again from people that walk into her father’s shop that the White Tower was not finished with you until it says so, if not never.

The hallways seemed never ending, all the tapestries on the walls. The white, and different colour tiles on the floor, Sanah suspected that they must represent something. Keeping close to Narime Sedai, she tried to look everywhere at once. Every time they passed an Aes Sedai she couldn’t help but look them right in the eye, and they stared back as if expecting something in return. When she gave them nothing they gave a sniff. Then Narime said: “You keep setting your penance higher don’t you Sanah. You have a stubbornness about you. You’ll need it, however you must always curtsy to an Aes Sedai, and never challenge them while you are a novice or accepted. Do I make myself clear.”

“Yes Narime Sedai. May I ask a question?”

“If it’s about testing I have told you time and time again, the Mistress of Novices. Otherwise ask away.”

“How should I curtsy, Narime Sedai?”

The Aes Sedai suddenly stopped at a door and said.

“The Mistress of Novices with give you that answer, now answer all her questions, honestly, and I hope for your sake that you make it.”

“Yes Narime Sedai and thank-you for brining me here.”

Narime gave Sanah a quick smile and said “Now shall we before we waste anymore time.”

 

She gave a nock on the door and to what sounded like a murmur opened the door. The room was not what Sanah had expected, it didn’t seem like a room where punishments would be carried out. Then her eyes were drawn to the woman sitting at her desk looking at them. Narime grabbed Sanah’s arm and brought her forward.

“This one I brought myself, she not only wishes to be tested but is also requires punishment due to not having any respect for an Aes Sedai.”

While Narime walks out Sanah said “Thank-you Narime Sedai”

Narime didn’t even hear past the slamming of the door.

Sanah gave her best curtsy to the Aes Sedai although not very good while giving her a challenging stare. Not sure what to say Sanah decided to wait patiently.

I presume this is your Meet the MoN rp? This should be done on the RP board, not here at the OOC board.

 

Before you post it there, though, I would like you to make a few changes. Please read the Tips and Guidelines (link http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,37683.0.html), but of utmost importance is the following:

 

1) Role playing is done in third person, past tense. (For example, "She walked down the street and was lost in thought.")

 

Thoughts/Speech are the only exception. They should be present tense and first person. Thought should be indicated with italics, speech within quotation marks.

 

2) An Aes Sedai would not drag a bunch of girls to the Tower without testing them to see if they can learn to channel.

 

 

Please read your post through carefully, even after spell-checking it. Some words will be noted as spelled correctly, but it is the wrong word being used.

 

For instance:

 

She also saw women in white dresses, some with a stripped hem at the base and cuffs of the dress.

The noun is "stripe", the adjective is "striped". Stripped has an altogether different meaning.

herd = a group of animals; heard = to hear someone talking

 

There are also a few sentences that make no sense:

 

After all that she thought how boring she must be, a blue she said she was after this trip one thing Sanah has learned, she has no desire to be a blue.

 

Then she saw the Aes Sedai themselves, you couldn’t miss them the ageless faces all of the sudden turn their heads and look at the girls.
