FF XII

Dark Justice

I just finished the Final Fantasy XII and just wondered:

Is it just me, or is it too easy?

Its a fairly long game, and many things to do that is not necisarily done in a heartbeat. (and i ws running around doing hunts and stuff. So I finished in about 90 hs..) But I find it being a tad bit easy. I finished the last bosses with only 3-4 KO, and not a single restart. I remember VII & VIIII, and they, at least to my memory, were not even close to being as easy...

Any one else have the same expirience?

Any one else think VII is the best FF game ever?

well. Storywise it might be the best game. Also the freedom to roam around doing sidequests is also very good. however it lacks a bit of fun time, like in VII.

Like the chocobo racing, and the arena fighting are things we most likely wont see again very soon in any games, but it was great.

Do you also think the last long cave section was just WAY too long? And the bosses werent even really hard... i struggeled more against the little anoying tomatoes and its brother vegetables than against many others.

Did you ever really use the espers & quickenings& I found id rather use my MP for more important stuff...

I spent a lot of time powering up everyone early on so the boss fights in the story line weren't that hard.  One thing I did was get everyone licensed in everything.

I did find the hunts to be on the brutal side and I never used the espers, they kept dieing right after I summoned them.  But I did use the quickenings, when you got a x10 chain going that did some damage.

And the offensive spells I thought where useless most of the time. 9 out of 10 times I could do more damage with my weapons, and buy the time I got to the more advanced spells I had already out grew them.

And using the defensive spells didn't take much MP.  I used techniques and ether to keep my MP at a high minimum to use defensive spells.

The one thing I found annoying was my archers would keep deciding to charge an enemy.  And some hunts I armed everyone with a bow or gun to keep them out of melee range!

Haven't finished yet (having a kid will do that), but I'm (I think) about halfway through. I've kept up the pace pretty well through this one and have found a lot of the bosses challenging enough to have to level up a bit before I could beat them.

I'm not finding that fine line between too tough and too easy though. The bosses are either so impossibly hard that I have to level up a bunch, or so ridiculously easy that it's no fun.

But I'm loving the storyline, and can't wait to get some more espers.

Just about everything the storyline requires you to do is pretty easy. It's when you get into the sidequest stuff, like marks, that things start ramping up in difficulty. Behemoth King, Zodiark, and Omega would be at the top of the hair-pulling list. That said, I did still really enjoy it (I actually just started a new game the other night right after finishing off Kingdom Hearts II), second to FF IX on my favorite FFs, and I don't care what Sin has to say about FF IX.

The only time I can recall bothering with an Esper was in the Orthros fight - Belias annihilates him in like five seconds - and the only time I relied on Quickenings for anything after the first few hours was when it came to peeling as much HP off Zodiark between it dropping below 1/3 and him turning invincible.

FF XII is a very good game. It has a great in-depth storyline that has many twists and turns, and amazing game play with an awesome new battle system. But I have to say that it is not the best FF ever. It defiantly has to be FF VII or FF IX in my opinion. Just because a game is all new and shiny doesn't make it better than it's predecessor.

XII is really easy, but its amazingly fun.  its such a divergence from the rest of the series, and as long as you can ignore Vaan and penelo then the story is star wars.  Hooray for Han and Chewy *cough* i mean Balthier and Fran.

FF VI > FF VII  Sepheroth may be super badass, but hes nowhere near as evil as kefka.

The story is *not* Star Wars just because it has an evil empire and a mobile superweapon. You could say the same thing about Secret of Mana if you wanted. Half the RPGs ever made have an evil empire taking up a majority of the plot.

Square is a noted fan of star wars having a biggs and wedge in almost every game.  and with 12, balthier is a skye pirate w/ a furry co-pilot.  But i didnt say it was star wars, just that han solo and chewbaca are in it...sort of.

I have found the best place to get large kill chains and Gil, is in the Stilshrine of Miriam. In the section called the "Walk Of Prescience" and "Walk Of Reason". Tons of undead there that all add up in kill chains. 3 or 4 runs through and you kill everything. To respawn the zone (and kill nothing but the undead on the bottom and second tiers) all you have to do is run back through 2 zoning points (killing nothing) then run back. You will get their rare drops and stacks of bones which sell remarkably well as dose the skin. After you get to be level 25 or so it becomes really easy in there and the xp drops per kill but the drops and (for the gil) and the LP from the massive chains are well worth wasting time there. I built up a 900 kill chain in one sitting once, took hours but it was fun :D
