Field Trip! (Kassian, Martyn, Geirrin)

Making sure he had everything necessary for the trip was turning out to be a frustrating task.  Every time he thought he was ready, Arath remembered one more thing that he would need, and raced around his home looking for it.  After an hour or so of preperation, he believed he had everything.  Besides, it wasn't like he couldn't Travel back home and get it if he needed something else.

Finally satisfied, Arath shouldered his pack and locked up his house.  It seemed foolish to use locks in a place where someone could just open a gateway to the inside of your home, but old habits died hard.  With a small laugh at himself, Arath strode off toward the travelling grounds.  He glanced up at the sky.  He still had an hour or so before the others would arrive, but that was fine.  He liked the time to think under the open sky.

Absently, he toyed with the rings in his coat pocket, pondering exactly what he was going to do in the Stone.  He had recieved permission to investigate the ter'angreal cache in the Stone of Tear once it was discovered that he had the talent to create objects of the power.  Events had conspired against him since then, postponing the journey, but at last he could finally do it.  He had decided to take a small number of soldiers and dedicateds with him to assist in the sorting process.  And perhaps one of them would have some useful abilitity concerning ter'angreal as well.  Stranger things had happened.

Martyn knocked on the door to Arath's house, waiting on him to head out to Tear. It had been a while now since he had last been there, the only time in his life he ended up in the southern country was when he had been looking for the Black Tower, and ironically ended up getting transported back to Andor again. Today, however, he'd end up getting a look at the Stone of Tear. Supposedly it was a storage of all kinds of items associated with the One Power even before the Dragon had risen to power there, though it didn't make a lot of sese compared to how the Tairen nobility treated those that had the ability to channel.

Oh, they weren't disrespectful to Aes Sedai, it's just that in general, they had a reluctance to deal with them that bordered a phobia. This was one of the reasons that he had decided to come along, perhaps the addition of one amongst their number carrying a normal sword and holding himself like he could use it would add a certain level of normality to their party. The last thing he wanted was to be seen as an alien of some kind, with people still half-expecting them to launch into a murderous rage almost any second now. In their history, they had seen too many false Dragons trying to take the Stone not to. And perhaps, he might also find some less destructive applications of the power, an incentive to channel that didn't rely on blowing heads up like melons, or setting them on fire. He didn't havea healer's mindset, but still... there should be something other to do with the power than kill, crush and destroy that Asha'men training seemed to revolve around.

Geirrin picked up his things and bolted out the door.  On his way to the travelling grounds he thought on their purpose for going to the Stone.  Supposedly there was a large collection of ter'angreal in the Stone and they were going to see what this collection entailed.  Although he was Tairen he had never been to the stone.  He had seen it from the docks though that was as close as he had come.  Commoners were simply not allowed in the Stone.  He was slightly apprehensive about the trip as he had grown up in a fishing village west of Godan therefore the Maule was more his place than the Stone would be.

Geirrin wondered what kind of reception he would receive.  There was no doubt that he would be seen for what he was, a low born Tairen.  Would they hold animosity towards him?  If they didn't like Aes Sedai how would they treat a male channeler?  Sure there was the amnesty but how far did that go to protecting them?

Geirrin gave the appropriate courtesies to the Attack Leader and then to Martyn.  He fidgeted with his pack trying to find a comfortable place on his shoulder.  He was told there would be four of them though he didn't know who the fourth would be.  Geirrin wondered if he would be of any assitance on this trip hoping that he at least did not become a hindrance.  He was strongest in Earth, Fire, and Spirit then slightly above average with Air and slightly less so with Water.  He found the last bit ironic.  For a boy who spent his entire life on or near the water and that was his weakest element.

Arath waited in silence as the men arrived, first Martyn, then Geirrin.  After a while, when it became apparent that Kassian wasn't coming, the Attack Leader motioned for the other two to follow him and began the short trek to the travelling grounds.  As they walked, he explained a few things.

"The Tearen's should ignore us for the most part.  They prefer to pretend that the Stone never fell, and talking to us more than absolutly necessary reminds them of the fact.  So unless you go looking for trouble, we shouldn't have any.  Just keep your coat on so they recognize you.

"When we get to the ter'angreal cache, don't channel!  I didn't bring you along just so you could burn the three of us out.  Be very careful when you touch anything, since you never know what might set a ter'angreal off.  Some of them can be used by non channelers as well.

"You'll usually be able to know a ter'angreal simply by touching it.  They feel different than normal objects.  I hear that there is a lot of junk down in the holding as well, so we'll need to sort through and dispose of some of it."

They reached the travelling grounds and Arath wove the gateway to the travelling room in the Stone.  "Basically, don't do anything stupid, and ask me before you even think about touching the source."

OOC:  If you wanna make a reply here, fine.  Look for the next part on the East board.
