Glancing up from the volume in her lap Tiassale sighed and regretfully lay it aside. Across the fireplace Andular glanced up from sharpening his sword (the man was forever sharpening or polishing something), his eyebrow raised in question.

“I’ve a new Recruit to see to, love. I should be back before nightfall.†Gently she bent to place a kiss on his unshaven cheek.

He reached up to caress her cheek briefly, “The parade of humiliation eh?â€

She tutted as she stepped to the looking glass, tucking several errant curls into the gold net at the nape of her neck, “It is rather horrifying isn’t it? But a Battle Sister will face worse than humiliation. Besides, I’ve no doubt Alyria will handle it gracefully as ever.â€

“The red haired one?†He drew the sharpening stone across the length of the blade again, “You should treat her gently Tia. She looks fragile.â€

“Fragile as that blade you hold, Andular.†Turning from the glass she picked up a package from the bed, one delivered days ago. She would not let Alyria greet her sisters in a gown too tight or short, nor one that still marked her Accepted.

“And do be careful sweets. Don’t cut off anything I might need later.†Flashing him a dimpled smile she left her apartments, walking towards the northern end of the Green Ajah quarters. Here the Recruits were housed until they had completed the tests necessary for becoming a full Battle Sister. Tia well remembered her own time spent in a tiny windowless room, - not so different from an Accepted’s chambers in truth - and bemoaning her fate and the casual dismissal of her abilities. She prayed to the Creator Alyria was strong enough to stay the course and that she as the child’s former Mentor could offer the support and strength she would need in these final days before she joined the ranks of the Battle Ajah.

She paused before the child’s door – I must stop thinking of her as a child – she is Aes Sedai now and she will be a full Green. I’ll see to that.

Taking a deep breath she assumed the expressionless façade she had practiced so diligently in the mirror for so very many years, wiping away any pity or sympathy she might feel for the child. Alyria Sedai! Not child or girl any longer. Remember that Tiassale. This will be enough of a trial for her. Knocking briskly she twitched at her shawl as she waited and prepared herself for the inevitable, wondering which Alyria would choose – tears or pity or a steel will that nothing could waver.

She desperately hoped it would be the latter. Raising her hand she knocked on the door and it swung open immediately. Tia regarded Alyria for a moment before speaking.

“It’s time to greet the Ajah, Alyria Sedia. But first I’ve brought you a present.â€

Alyria sat in her new room, madder than a nest of hornets that had just been disturbed. She looked around the room, trying to get herself focused before anyone showed up to her room. The room was almost a plain and small as her Accepted quarters had been. The walls and flooring where all white, only the appearance of her own items let you know you were in anything but and Accepted's quarters. the room was completely windowless, the only light was provided by the candle Alyria had lit when she was shown into the room.

What was even worse was the fact that the woman she respected had denied her entrance to the Ajah. She had told her that now she had more to learn; she had to prove her worth to the Ajah itself. Not only that, but it semed all her hard work was not even going to be recognized. Alyria breathed in a cleansing breath, letting the anger of her denial fade. She felt her anger harden, making her feel like she had a thicker skin than she did a few moments ago. She held herself straight, pushed her shoulders back, andheld her head high. She would not, under any circumstance, let anyone tell her she could not be a green sister. She would prove to Sirayn, and the rest of them, that she was worth her weight in gold.

Alyria pulled out a small mirror out of her belt pouch. She looked in, seeing a coldness in her eyes that was not there before. Alyria fixed her hair, making sure it was neat and smooth when there came a knock at her door. Alyria looked up, the door swinging open before she even bid the woman entrance.

The woman standing before her was a welcome face, one that Alyria knew she could trust completely. Yet as Tiassale stood there looking her over, Alyria felt that wall surrounding her emotions come up again. She would not allow anyone to know her true feelings, that she was hurt and saddened by Sirayn's refusal. Alyria rose from the bed, tucking her mirror back into her pouch as Tia spoke.

“It’s time to greet the Ajah, Alyria Sedai. But first I’ve brought you a present.†She said, sounding like a teacher on the first day of school. Alyria walked across the small room to greet her. She looked into Tia's eyes, feeling that coldness soften a bit as she looked at her mentor. She kept the emotional facade that she had learned during her time in the tower. She reached out and took the package from Tia, turning it over in her hands.

"Thank you Tiassale for this, but it was not necessary." Alyria continued talking as she opened the package Tia had handed her. "I look forward to meeting the Ajah I will be a part of. I will never give up you know. I will gain entrance to this Ajah on way or another." Alyria said, sounding a bit cold. The breath caught in her throat at the dress inside the package.

Inside was a dark, forest green dress, made of layers of satin and velvet. It was fitted around the bosum and waist, flaring out a bit at the hips before falling straight to the floor. The sleeves were long, tapered down to the wrist, the buttons seemed to be made out of a silvery, black stone. There was velvet trim along the hems and bodice, in an even darker shade of green. The neck line was deep, yet modest, in the style of Mayene. Alyria looked at the woman before her, trying to form the words to thank her.

"Tiassale, it is stunning. It must have cost you a fortune. Thank you so much." Alyria said, happiness seeping into her voice. She smiled at Tia, happier yet, when her smile was returned. "May I put it on?" Tia nodded. Alyria dropped her last Accepted dress to the floor, happy to be rid of it. She pulled the dress on, allowing Tia to help with the row of buttons up her back. The dress fit like a glove, revealing Alyria's shapely figure.

Sliding on her newest black slippers, she turned toward Tia. "Why don't you tell me what I can expect from the other Sisters in the Ajah? Will they accept me as one of them or turn me away as Sira has?" She looked into Tia's eyes, feeling her emotions once again, fade into the background.

"Why don't you tell me what I can expect from the other Sisters in the Ajah? Will they accept me as one of them or turn me away as Sira has?"

Tiassale gave a vexed tsk, “Sira is it? She is the Captain General of the Green Ajah, Alyria and until the day she names you a full Battle Sister, and well after for that matter, you’d do well to remember that.†Still she was relieved to see they had not broken the spirit of the girl. Aes Sedai, she reminded herself yet again. Still there was something different. Bend but do not break, child.

“You are a part of the Green, Alyria. There is no going back from here. The only question is….shall you be a full Battle Sister with all the voice and authority that holds within the Ajah or find yourself a lackey to some aged Green in need of a living cane? Or worse yet overseeing Novices and Accepted on the Farm for the next several years?â€

Tiassale stood, “Today is only about making you known the Battle Sisters in residence at the moment. Tomorrow will begin the harder task of earning your full title. The Green is harder than other Ajah’s, Alyria Sedai. We have to be.â€

“Hold close to your heart the knowledge that amongst any other color Ajah you are Aes Sedai, and a Sister of the Green. And act like one. If you cannot play this part how under the Light will you serve the Tower at Tarmon Gaidon?â€

Tia softened her tone, “Now come, the Sisters are waiting. Hold your head high Alyria Sedai.â€

They left Alyria’s small chamber and walked silently together towards the northern corridor of the Green Quarters, each deep in her own thoughts. Tiassale gave Alyria one last look up and down before she nodded in approval and knocked sharply on the door.

“Sister, this is Alyria Sedai. She is bound to the Battle Ajah, yet not a part of it.â€

((OOC: My first post as an aged-up Aes Sedai :P Woohoo!))

Aramina looked up from her desk as she heard a knock at the door. A new sister, she thought with a small smile. It wasn't everyday that you made a first impression with a new sister. Of course, she made it a point to know the Accepted who seemed to be likely to choose the Green Ajah, it was different meeting someone as Accepted and Aes Sedai, then as one Sister to another. She stood and looked quickly in the looking glass, making sure her appearance was appropriate, as if that were ever in question. Her front of her long brown hair was pulled back in an intricate braid with the back hanging down in curls to her waist. Her forest green dress was slashed with a darker green through the bodice. Full skirts swished lightly as she walked across the floor to answer her door.

She pulled open the door and smiled lightly at Tiassale Sedai even as she spoke.

“Sister, this is Alyria Sedai. She is bound to the Battle Ajah, yet not a part of it.â€

"Welcome Sister." Aramina said to the new Sister. "I believe the Green Ajah suits you well, and you have a great woman to lead you towards your destiny." She said, nodding to Tiassale Sedai. "Your days will be hard and exhausting, but remember that in the worst days, you are not alone. You are, as they say," she smiled at Alyria then "one of us now. I would be honored if you would visit again when we can get to know one another better."

After all, knowing of someone was different than knowing them and Aramina had never been the kind to let details slip through her fingers. Alyria Sedai was an unknown in her equations and that wasn't something she could allow to remain for long. A friendly meeting would let her know the other woman better and get a feel for her alliances and strengths. Only time would tell her true weaknesses, but Aramina Sedai was a very patient woman.

OOC - WOW! I was gone or a bit and you aged up!!! Cool deal...

IC -

Tiassale knocked on the door, smiling at the woman who opened it. “Sister, this is Alyria Sedai. She is bound to the Battle Ajah, yet not a part of it.†Alyria looked at the woman standing before her. She had long hair, pulled in a braid in the front and appeared to be hanging loosely down her back.

"Welcome Sister." The woman said with a slight smile "I believe the Green Ajah suits you well, and you have a great woman to lead you towards your destiny." She said, nodding to Tiassale Sedai. "Your days will be hard and exhausting, but remember that in the worst days, you are not alone. You are, as they say," she smiled at Alyria then "one of us now. I would be honored if you would visit again when we can get to know one another better."

Alyria looked the woman in the eyes and then began to speak. "I would thoroughly enjoy that at some point Sister, but I fear I have alot of work to do before I will have some free time. Thank you for the kid offer though." She stood there while Tiassale and the other sister talked for a minute, drawing in everything they said. Once the sister closed the door, she looked at Tiassale and gave a small smile. "She seemed nice. I hope there are others like her."

(OOC: Sorry this was so long in coming...RL bites)

IC: Loraine pushed away from the table and stretched, leaving the book open and a ribbon marking her place. She hadn't been home very long and the heavy feeling of this room hadn't changed a bit since she'd left. Even Kyn had noticed it, which was why he'd taken himself off to the Yard before the sun was up this morning.

She'd have gone with him, but waiting for the knock on her door kept her in this room, rather than watching him work through his forms. It was one of the list of things she missed about being out in the world, rather than cooped up in this Tower. She sighed. Kyn's emotions must be playing a much larger role in her thoughts than usual, since she'd never once felt out of place here. At least, not until she'd been raised...

She turned towards the door as the knock she'd been expecting rang out and checked her image in the mirror before moving towards it. She pulled it open slowly, a smile lighting her delicate features. There were fine lines appearing in her forehead and she felt that much older for them as they shifted under the deep green emerald hanging on her brow.

Tiassale stood on the other side of the door and Loraine nodded quietly to her before her gaze slid to the woman standing next to her. “Sister, this is Alyria Sedai. She is bound to the Battle Ajah, yet not a part of it.†Loraine nodded, remembering those words better than she'd hoped to, remembering how they'd cut, reminding her of everything that she'd done and everything she still had to do before she could wear a shawl on her shoulders. Moraine hadn't had that problem and it stung Loraine more than she cared to admit, then. She understood it now, but that wouldn't help the woman before her.

"It is a pleasure to see you again, Tiassale Sedai, and it pleases me greatly to be here for such an important day for you, Alyria Sedai. I'm sure every door you've opened has offered you some piece of advice to help this day, this shawl, and this choice more easy worn. I will be no different, though I offer some small piece of a thought to keep you on track in your coming trials. Every woman walking these halls has been where you are. We've all fought and clawed for the shawl and faced even worse since. The day will come when this will be more clear for you, no matter how rough it may seem now." She smiled. "I pray that day comes quickly for you, so that you may appreciate all that is about to come your way. For not appreciating it will lead only to heartache later."

Loraine nodded again, her smile widening a fraction. "Congratulations on your current success and may it only serve to light your path for the future, Alyria Sedai."

OOC: alright this is my first post in about...a year and a half? So bear with me here...

IC:

Kara sat at her desk in her room. The Green quaters were here home now more than any other place on the face of the planet, and yet...sometimes she felt so stifiled here. But then again, that was the way she had always been. Kara had always wanted to be out and finding adventure. Of course, what she had overlooked for year was the fact that there was plenty of adventure right here inside the tower. A fleeting memory of fighting one of the forsaken inside this same tower flashed across her mind.

She rose from the desk in a deft movement that hadn't changed in the years. Years...those were things that seemed to be piling up on her quite quickly. She looked out the window onto the world. The great set of stairs that led up to the tower was bustling with people. She knew in her heart that the world that they were walking into was a different one than she had. Life had been so different when she had come at the ripe age of 17. It had be so...calm. Now it seemed like the whole pattern was tipped on it's side and some force was shaking. Hard.

So much time had passed since then. Not only was she a full sister now, she was a Defender. Years of leading expiditions, and fighting in small skirmishes had finally been recognized. The Gold Katana that hung on her wall marked her as one of the most battle experienced women in her Ajah. There were others, and there had been thousands of others before her. But that didn't make her any less proud of what she had acomplished. Time and experience had taught her so much.

Spinning on her heel she looked at herself in the mirror. The ageless face of a Aes Sedai stared back at her. On first guess it could be said that she was in her early twenties. But Kara knew better. It had been well over a hundred years since she could call herself twenty. So much had changed, but what hadn't? Her hair still hung only to her cheek bones. Just as short as the day she had walked into this Ajah. She could clearly remember being turned down. The rejection. The anger. Then after all that, the realization that she wouldn't give up. Slicing off her hair was only the begining of her transformation. The black pants that hugged her hips were next. After that white dress had come off, she had adopted a more practical form of atire. A dark green tunic, and coat finished the outfit. And of course, a quick mental check told her that there was a total of five different knives hidden on her person. One in each boot, one hidden in her 'battle corsit' as she called it, one in her sleeve, and one in her hair clip. The hair clip was for rememberance more than anything. Kara's hair was too short for it to hold all of it in. But all the same she wore it. Her name was engraved on the blade that was hidden in the simple clip. Given to her at her initiation....Much like the bracelet on her forarm. A focus with a green jem in the middle in the shape on a katana. Sira had given that to her.

Mentaly Kara caught herself. Sira was the Captain General now. She couldn't just call her Sira where others could hear. Siryan Sedai was much more appropriate. That woman had taught her so much through the years. Whatever Kara had acomplished, or learned, it was because Sira was there to push her. They had shared so much. So much history going all the way back to when Kara was an accepted mouthing off in Earth Weaves. She grinned in spite of herself. That had been a fun class.

The knock on her door was expected. She strode over to it, and was met with Tia and the girl trying to gain acceptance by the Battle Ajah. Kara remember what it was like to stand there. She smiled. As hardened as she was in the battlefeild, she didn't have the heart to cut this new girl off at the knees today.

“Sister, this is Alyria Sedai. She is bound to the Battle Ajah, yet not a part of it.†Tia said.

"It is good to meet you sister. Don't be discouraged just yet. There is much more ahead of you. The time is coming. I promise you that." Kara smiled. "And since I can't lie, you can trust me on that!"

Thankfully the girl smiled a little and almost giggled. Kara knew full well that those smiles would be few and far between in the months to come. Battleworn was one thing, but being coldhearted was beyond her.

"Your trial is half over. Don't give up. There are many rewards to gaining full acceptance into the Battle Ajah," Kara leaned in as if she was telling a secret. "Like you finally get a nice room!" Again the Alyria smiled. She was going to need all the smiles she could get.

"Congradulations, and I know we shall see great things from you."
